    Generally good, but you missed one element of Tonya Harding’s punishment: She was banned for life from ice skating. And not just as a competing athlete, but as a coach, an adviser or anything. Apparently, she was even banned from ice rinks entirely, even for pleasure. That’s a hell of a blow for a person who felt the only thing she was good for was ice skating.

    I cheated. I was in a softball game between parents and kids at a birthday party. The kids had a huge advantage because the parents throwing the party had gotten a member of the UCLA softball team to pitch. The pitcher proceeded to fan every parent who came to bat. I was third up, after two easy strikeouts. When the woman pitched to me, I leaned in and got struck by the ball. "Take your base!" The pitcher protested that I had deliberately leaned in and that the ball had been in the strike zone. The ump winked at me and said "Take your base!" I managed to steal the final three bases, putting one point on the parent's scoreboard. It was the only point we made -- that pitcher was GOOD. I, like the other parents, wanted the kids to win, but certainly wasn't going to be humiliated by a shutout. My other at-bats were normal, and the woman pitching congratulated me afterward on taking one for the team. Which I had -- her pitch HURT.

    4:37 I think that one is one of the worst cases of cheating I’ve seen. It’s one thing to cheat; it’s another thing to fake certificates, beating disabled teams who were trying their best, lying about having a mental disability, and having such a higher-up be behind it? It makes me so angry, and I don’t think I need to explain why.

    Worst part about cheaters is that they will always try to defend why it was okay for them to cheat, and try to drag you down if you don't agree. I've questioned my own talents and abilities before due to cheaters who put me down just to find out they were cheating. Karma will always come around and bite them in their scummy ass though.

    • @KororaPenguin
      @KororaPenguin ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a cheater in an MMOG (one of the _Call of Duty_ games, IIRC) who first pretended to mistake the hacks for a glitch, and then pretended to realize--Good heavens, these are hacks--and blamed it on a made-up "friend". Unfortunately for her, she'd already accidentally streamed herself using EngineOwner.

      Cristopher James respectfully, nuts to that. A kiwi shot put thrower Valerie Adams won Olympic silver to Belarusian Nadia Ostapchuk, who took gold, in a highly suspicious turn (it’s a small sport, they know who should win before they get there). Nadia got to have her moment in the stadium with the Belarus anthem, she wasn’t confirmed cheating until too late (and she was sloppy, she knew she wouldn’t get away with it). That’s a moment Valerie was robbed of and will never get back. (This was London 2012)

    I reverse cheated to get out of a wrestling meet. Anyone could challenge for the A team to go to the meet. My friend in the weight class wanted to go. So I threw the challenge in points, but kept it close so the coaches wouldn't suspect anything. Two problems though. He kept going around bragging. I was an intermediate and kids would stop racing when they were close to 20 wins so they could sandbag and win them at a National or Double pointer or the Worlds so guys like me a real intermediate had no chance at the big events. Motocross was even worse because you could pick your class so you had experts racing in the beginners class and lapping them.

    I was caught cheating in Kendo once, though it's more "unethical practice" than flat out cheating, I didn't take illegal substances and I didn't alter any of my gear in any way. I'm a big guy, 6'2" and weighing in at 240 lb. at the time, and in competitive kendo when a fighter steps out of the fight ring they are hit with a -0.5 point penalty. Normally, a match is over when it lasts 3 minutes or when one fighter is 2.0 points ahead of another fighter, so I used that to my advantage to purposefully shove my opponent from the ring. Now, shoving and pushing are LEGAL in kendo, however the main point is striking designated areas on the opponent to score points, so after the seventh time I shoved an opponent out of the ring, one of the high-ranking sensei called me out and told me that, while what I'm doing ISN'T illegal per se, the sport we're engaging in is KENDO and not SUMO, so he'd like me to rely more on my sword skills and less on throwing my weight around. He didn't ban me from the match, nor did he gave me any sort of penalty, but I decided that it's better to realize when I've been had and not push my luck, so I dropped the tactic. I ended up getting second place in my bracket (ikkyu and shodan), and I offered to have a rematch with the guy I shoved out the ring four times, we had a 5-minute bout with me declared the winner as the final score was 7-4. People in my group still call me Mr. Sumo now and again but that is normally said as a joke.

I had won the gold. But I knew I fouled. I went over to the ref and told him I fouled. We attempted the jump again and neither of us could make it and we tied. And Williams had only been on the pitch a couple of minutes, too. If he'd handed the capsule to a teammate who'd been on from the start or something it would have seemed less suspicious as well.

    I play pokémon, yugioh, and mtg (trading card games or tcgs). While these games are not technically sports, they are played competitively in tournaments all over the world. When playing these games in a tournament setting, you can be disqualified for breaking the tournament rules and some players have even been banned from these tournaments for life. One time I was playing in a yugioh tournament and my opponent had deliberately damaged the sleeves on my cards thus “marking” my cards while shuffling them in an attempt to get me disqualified. After he handed them back to me, I immediately called over a judge and told them what my opponent had done. Let’s just say the guy was immediately disqualified from the tournament told to go home. I just hope that guy never tried to cheat his way to victory again.

      @@Tori-Chan_Or_Bird-Chan Up until that time, I’d never seen anyone use that method either. But, as you know, cheaters will use all kinds of methods to cheat their way to victory and they may not use the same method every time. Some cheaters will stack their deck in such a way that they always draw a good hand every time they shuffle their deck. Some will even try to stack your own deck against you. Some will try to play with banned/illegal cards, some will try to play with marked cards, some will play a card and not do what the card says they have to do, and some will find a good card in their deck, hide it in their hand, and then put it on the top of their deck after shuffling. Catching cheaters is not easy and if you think your opponent is cheating, don’t be afraid to call over a judge and tell them about your suspicions. Even if you end up being wrong.

    There's more to the Spanish basketball one.
    1. The person who broke the story claimed that, as a reporter in his day job, he was doing an undercover expose on the cheating. However, he only came out and blew the lid on it after people had been coming out and saying they recognised the players on the team as non-intellectually disabled people. Basically, it's extremely likely he was just trying to avoid the fallout.
    2. Russia then *wasn't* awarded the gold medal because they couldn't provide sufficient evidence that their players were eligible either. So to this day, the event is listed as having no gold medal awarded.

    In a little league baseball game, the games either ran 6 innings or 2hrs whatever came first. We were down 5-1 going into top of the 5th inning. With about 50min game time left as well. Well, we ended up scoring 3 runs making it 5-4, going into bottom of the 5th with 25min left of game time. We were able to get 3 outs with 2min left in game time. And apart of the rule I stated earlier, if you start the top of the 6th before clock runs out, you complete the full 6 innings, and start means all players on field and batter is ready. However, our opponent somehow had 2 of its players somehow lose their gloves. And wasted the 2 min left so ump called the game since the 6th inning didn’t start because players weren’t on the field. My coach tried to argue with the ump saying they are purposely “not finding” gloves to end the game so that we can’t get a chance to bat. The ump said “not my problem, rules and rules”. This game basically put us out of the possibility of a medel, which they give to 1st and 2nd. My coach went to the league office and filed complaint along with other parents of my teammates. They said while we cannot prove that they cheated, they changed the wording of the rule the start of the 6th inning is as soon as 5th inning is over, not when all players are on the field.
