The term “ladylike” shouldn’t even exist in my opinion. Why can’t a lady behave the way she wants without there being a stereotype? Same for men honestly
Noor Husain regardless of how “tomboy” a girl wants to be, there are still times where you need to have manners and etiquette. Politeness is no stereotype.
Coconut Head obviously there are moments in time you just need manners, but why does it have to be called “ladylike”? I hate it when a mom yells at her child to “sit like a lady” when she isn’t. There are other names for it that don’t force the stereotype.

i once in college had gf for 3 years, who was more into politics, literature, social issues and any intellectual challenges than so called lady like behaviours.. having said that she would do the general make up every once in a while and she looked absolutely stunning, even though she would forget to wear earring in one ear or won't notice for an entire day, she lost her one earing..lol, simply didn't care..as soon as i pointed that to her, she would laugh big time, throw other one and continue like nothing happened.I knew few gals who would die of embarrassment if it happened to them, but my gal simply didn't care on such trivial things... I was very fond of her intellectual brain..she influenced greatly during those last 3 years in my bachelor study of electronics engineering...I would forever be grateful for..
oh ya she was quite sexy and daring and experimental in bed and intellectually stimulating at the same time....no wonder most of our dates were in library or writers corner cafe near our uni.. missed those days bigtime.. :( One thing she taught me best was learning was about learning everything in subject matter..not just going through syllabus and lecture notes from exam perspective..we would both go through all the books in the library in a subject matter no matter it was in syllabus or not and teach each other from the book we just read..even a day before the final exam..than exam seems so puny as we had virtually studied everything there is to study about that subject matter...Treating uni subject matters like magazines to study out of curiosity made last 3 years so easy to get distinction in BE, even though we spent all lecture hours either in my room, library or cafe....can't write enough about her.....she was simply amazing, frank and sincere..never had to bear a girly drama while being with her..
p.s she was short but always wore flats as heels were unhealthy as per her argument and reserved for absolute necessity like formal parties only..loved her..

Uhm, what’s wrong with being ladylike? A lot of women actually like it. Being ladylike isn’t just about being posh, and prim, perfect, or always following others. It’s about leadership, confidence, assertiveness, and respecting those around you. You can wear a pair of old, worn out sweatpants everyday, but that doesn’t mean you’re not ladylike. You can “act like a male” and you can still be defined as ladylike. In fact, you can be this posh, prim, perfect, well dressed a princess... but if you’re a horrible person on the inside you still won’t be ladylike because it’s what’s on the inside that matters.

I hate it when my mom makes me dress up for events, or even to go out for dinner. I put on my nicest t shirt, but I have to wear a dress. I can't wear my sneakers, I need fancy boots. Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize that everybody was going to stare at my feet all night. And I have to put on makeup and make my hair look nice. I hate it so much.

Make up freaks me out. I still don't get how girls can smear all that goo on their faces and have it look OK afterwards. I try it and I look like a circus clown. Not to mention I don't think any make up company makes a Concealer light enough. Every time a friend talks me in to letting them put make up on me I look like I came out of a tanning bed but only my face.

Maybe try a tinted moisture first or even bb cream. something light. then for eyes maybe a brown eyeliner pencil. easy to use and it's not as intense as black or other types of eyeliners. hope that helps if you still want to try. Of course you don't have to. I'm still off and on with makeup.

Do you really understand what it's like to be a girl in a society that has ideals about how to be a girl I just want to make you aware, the whole quirky meme is a bit insulting because girls who actually post things about that, are girls who are authentically different than average, and they're freaking sick of their family telling them to be like everyone else. So, they go all out. Why do some girls in the comment saying "this is me, I'll never become lady-like *sadface*" This shouldn't even be a big deal. Theres nothing wrong with it. Many girls I know including me are like this. Embrace it ladies, who gives a shit about how society wants you to be.. forcing yourself to be someone else sounds like a pain to me.

yup! and its because we grew up like tomboys because we are doing more boyish things than girls used to do 70-80 years ago. so its more natural for us to behave like boys than "lady-like". and I think that guys are ok with it, because they like us to be casual and not so preppy.

Bryan Hascall No, shure every woman is different. But one problem is present in every human : No matter how much you love a person there will ever be a thing that you absolutely hate about her. I made an example with a type of woman which I personally experienced, and that type actually occurs very similar in several women. Just to clear that there is no perfect man / woman. The ugly truth is that almost every relationship is broken by this problem sooner or later.
