Competition Cams are the ONLY valve train components I’ve ever or WILL trust and use in my engine builds. Other companies are good, but if you demand perfection, durability and technical support, CompCams is the ONLY way to go, bar none!
Nice video and clean shop! You mentioned at the beginning that you were omitting the details of cast cam cores. Lately it has come to my attention that whoever is supplying your castings are leaving alot of "Spatter" on the parts and after grinding the profile, this material is left on the camshaft and shipped to the customer. These pieces are not bonded to the camshaft very strongly, and they end up falling off when the lifters seat and go through the oil pump and luckily get stopped by the filter. If those Cores were shot-blasted before grinding it would eliminate the problem. If you shipped me a camshaft that looked like the ones I have seen, I would ship it back to you! Your Q.C. Department really should address this problem. All of the Billet's look good, why shouldn't the cast units? What do ya say?
I see that jack pirtle cup. Man that's some good chicken. I use bullet cams but comps been around for so long. I bought a hi energy 268 in the 70's and designed by Harold brookshire. I'm old 😅
JUST RECENTLY I ASKED COMP ABOUT A 60mm CAM I HAVE, I ASKED SPECIFIC QUESTIONS, BASICALLY GOT BACK INFO I HAD ON BOX, PLUS LOBE LIFT WHICH I MEASURED MAYSELF,I HOPE THEY CAN HELP ME MORE IN THE FUTURE, I'M LOOKING TO REGRIND AND CHANGE SPECS IF IT CAN BE DONE..GREAT FACILITY,AND GREAT CAMSHAFTS..
Without getting too deep into the chemistry of the REM process, the chemicals that are used in the REM work well with iron but are not optimal when you get into the more complex steels that are used in camshaft materials. MSE is a mechanical process to polish the cam surface.
Hey Chris. There are cores made for that engine. You can call our tech line or use our instant chat to talk to a tech. Later in the week is always better and we'll see if we can make what you're looking for.
Awesome video,,thanks for making. I know your calling it a cam core,, I think it makes more since to call it a cam blank.. when I hear The word (core) I immediately think of a used part..
I just installed a xe262 4x4 in my Chevy 350 and within 5 minutes of the break in period it wiped a lobe. Now I have to pull my engine and take it down and see what damage all that metal did. Sorry camshaft material

Comp website is garbage. Too much bullshit comes up when doing keyword searches that are totally unrelated to intended part.
