Glad there are others out there who enjoy fixing these things up as well. I got hooked about 6 months ago with youtube learning how to refurbish and clean them up, upgrade the hard drive and so on..
@@retro_vg_repairs3339 For me it's bringing back something that was probably going to a landfill somewhere to life. Although the latest original Xbox I've picked up is probably beyond repair. Probably the worst cap leak I've seen.
I actually liked the "duke" controller for the Xbox and it's my preferred controller when playing the Xbox. I never realized that a lot of people did not like it until a month ago. The only thing with my "duke" controller now is that I need a new left and right joystick as my are worn. I have a model "S" controller as well but prefer the Duke.
damn thanks in 2019 you can't find anything anymore especially files such as xdks now that the isozone is gone (RIP) and especially programming but you gave tons of really helpfully and really interesting info thank you got a new sub to
Just got one manufactured in late 2002 in very good condition but needed to iron out somes hiccups it had ordered a new laser for it and shell be good to go
I've owned one since they first released Day 1, prefer the 'Duke' Controller. Now in my late 50's I still play it every now and then mainly for Elder Scrolls Morrowind. I now have every Xbox they made except the series 'S' as I've just managed to get an Xbox series X but I'm not a Fanboy as I have all the Playstations up to PS4 as well. Both systems have their +ve & -ve points. Retro gaming is really taking off now and prices for consoles and games are rising. :-)
“A little addicted” hahaha thats a lot of consoles. Good for you though. I dont know a lot about techs but in sounds like a good habit to get in to. You mustve learned a lot.
All i know is the hitachi dvd drive is rare, samsung dvd drive has the best laser although it has ejecting problems, Phillips brand is 2nd best with no problems, Thomson dvd drive is unreliable 100% and must be avoided at all costs. Those are primarily built from 2001 to about mid to late 2003 Edit: dvds on xbox don't run in 480p, ps2 fat model scph 50001 and onwards support 480p dvd playback

@@Zooumberg if the exterior of the body is in good shape, keep it. You never know when someone will be looking for one.
@@grizzlyaddams3606 Yeah I'll put it away somewhere. I was going to mod the case on my other Xbox, but I think I'll keep it at stock.
fantastic insight and observation articulately put forward, informative, accurate and fascinating, great up load.

yeah the sticks wearing out is unfortunate. I have no idea where you could get replacements. Nobody sells em as far as I know.

For the original xbox all games ever made are dvd
Dude nice cd choice!!!!
I'm :50 in and you already have my sub.
The DVD player kit was to make the console cheaper because of Dolby licenses
