Really enjoyed your reaction to this fine album. Their next album Check Your Head is as large a departure from this album as this album was from the first album. You should check it out.
Hahah love the Ween comparisons. This is one of my favorite albums of all time but their next album Check Your Head is where they start mixing in their live playing and it changed my life when I heard it.
I’ve lOVED them since my Senior year in HS 86’ The year Licensed to Ill came out . I’ve seen them twice live in 80’s and 90’s 🔥🔥This is their Best album ,but then again ,that’s like choosing fav children. BB’s are in my DNA cause I still listen almost everyday .legendary& iconic … in everyway.
I would give anything i own to relive the moment this was released and that time period. Skateboarding, kickflips, method airs off launch ramps, girls and youth
“At the risk of sounding ridiculous, let us assert right off the bat that Paul's Boutique is as important a record in 1989 as Dylan's Blonde on Blonde was in 1966.” ~ David Hiltbrand, People Magazine, 1989, Critique of Album “Paul’s Boutique”
Great album pretty sure I have it memorized. I’ve had it since it came out and played it constantly it’s a favorite . Saw them live a few times great shows. It Changed rap.
I started to get into Beastie Boys last year (early/mid 2023). Only really knew them because of "Fight for Your Right" and "Intergalactic" before that. I decided to listen their records in full one day, and the second I finished "Licensed to Ill" and put on this record.... it blew me away. I honestly did not expect "Paul's Boutique" to sound vastly different than the debut album, and now it's honestly one of my favorite records ever.
Yea similar reaction I had. Enjoyed their debut a lot and went into this expecting a slightly more elevated version of the debut but it ended up being leagues above my expectations
tip: just listen to each track all the way through, then comment. you are missing a lot of crucial subtleties in the music because you are talking on top of it and necessarily not listening in those moments. absorb the song fully first, then react. that said, good job. check your head and ill communication are also incredibly solid albums, so keep going.
Listen to the words.. Nobody can do this, so they shouldn’t even try. I’ve never heard any band emulate them. Not the way these guys did it . Raw and Real ..
Great reaction to such a historic album. They thought they made the best album ever...but no one bought it, so they view it as a failure. The world wanted Fight for your Right Part 2, not Hey Ladies... Have you heard their next album Check Your Head? Its a masterpiece as well!
Your mic is too loud compared to the audio of the tracks. More ears and less of the rest. Skipping is a hard pass as well. They have a video that covers all the samples of this album for you.
Yeah, this album is legendary for being one of the primary reasons for the copyright laws that came after

This album will never sound dated

🌴🇬🇺 perfect analogy “like a victory lap”👍

Egg man is basically a remake of their earlier song Egg Raid on Mojo which was on their Polywog Stew EP when they were still a punk band.

it's insane that at that time when released that the album flopped...and now its one of the mt Rushmore albums for hip hop.

It changed me a little when bought that tape.
Run the Jewels and Rage Against the Machine and Beck, DJ Shadow, Chromeo, A Tribe Called Quest are all byproducts of this album.
Excellent work!! Try the Mollusk!
Paul's Boutique is my favorite Beastie Boys Album. I have them all.
Actually this album is one of the reasons for the sampling copyright laws. Along with a lot of Early Public enemy. One of my favorite albums ever
Kexp in Seattle played all the samples took over 6hrs

Great reaction!
Brav, I don’t like to drop hate on videos like this but your just driving me crazy 😂
Brav, it's alright if you don't like the video. I can't please everyone. What in particular don't you like?
How you gunna say "i dont like it" like a five yo without sayin why. its alright to disagree but explain yourself
Great reaction man! B-boy bouillabaisse is on the album as the last track. I had the cd back in the day
Listen to the words.. Nobody can do this, so they shouldn’t even try. I’ve never heard any band emulate them. Not the way these guys did it . Raw and Real ..
I prefer Beastie Boys but you should check out Run DMC for similar flow and rock/rap vibe. Same time frame.
Paul's Boutique is the greatest album ever made. Miles Davis said so himself...

I've heard a few songs off Check Your Head and I've loved what I've heard
You might have missed the secret message between transitions on one of the tracks...
Thank you 🤟
Some claim this is the best or most influential rap album ever. This album into Check your head are my favorite 3-4 years of the bands stretch.
This album set the standards for record companies to change the laws regarding sampling. This album had more samples than any other album in history.
Kick it and NNNNNNN-dRRRRROooooop are two of their own samples they use throughout their catalog.
Car Thief is one of my favs on here, plus Shadrach, and A year and a day.
Yauch does a lot on Year and a day, but Mike D is there too with a distorted, compressed voice.
My favourite Beasties album... B Boys Bouillabaisse is up there with the B side of Abbey Road
BOOOYALL BAZE, (It is a type of mixed soup, like the album, a mix of a lot)
Car Thief

damn son at least do it in the proper order before you criticize and understand how to turn up audio seriously
What do you mean "the proper order"? This is the exact same tracklist as anywhere else and I praise this album from start to finish.
Son of a gun, son of a bitch getting paid getting rich....... (Led Zep- Levee). The lyrics distracted your from the great Gonzo.
It's not Levee it's Mississippi queen ❤
The album is right there on the wall... Lol
It's a green screen. That's why it's black at the beginning before I state the name
