    Take a bath
    Put some perfume
Make yourself a dish full of fruits
    Watch a motivational video
    Wear bright color clothes
And remember at the end of your feelings is nothing but at the end of every principle is a promise.
    Good luck ♡

Shiny :D elaborate on the last one? I get how feelings don’t reflect worth or productivity, but they are important, the second part, principle and promise is a little unclear for me?

Summary: (But I'd recommend watching the whole video, as it contains much more than this)
    1 Do some excercise
    2 Clean your space
    3 Listen to feel-good music
4 Start easy task while listening to feel-good music
    5 Listen to classical music
6 Power through even if still not motivated
    7 Use Pomodoro method
    8 Make a to-do list
    9 Have a shower
10 Go outside / get some fresh air
11 Watch a study with me (but set a timer and make sure to be careful with how much time you spend)
12 Read an inspirational or your favourite book
13 Write a letter or do something to make yourself relaxed
Lovely video Ruby! It will be super useful. Have a productive week everyone!

Love this video! And love you Ruby! You're my number one inspiration and your videos really are helping me reach my goals. This is my 5th year now in a virtual school, and if there's one thing to know about virtual school, it's that it takes a lot of self-motivation just to get the day's work done... Especially with distractions such as social media, video games, and TV.. I started in grade 6 and it would take me until 9pm to get my work done because I wanted to play instead of doing it when I was supposed to. I would constantly procrastinate, especially in 8th and 9th grade which is when it got worse. I would always go to bed feeling horrible in 9th grade because I would get no work done in a day and I felt like I was melting away into a little pool while I watched my brother succeed. He was always self-motivated. He would get up at 6am and finish all of his school work by 10am, spend the rest of the day doing fun things, and was the at the very top of his class. Now I'm in grade 10. Just recently I found your channel when I was at an all-time low this year (in terms of procrastination.) Since then, things have started to change. It might not be a quick change, but whenever I am able to check something off my to-do list, I feel amazing. I'm staying more organized and productive! I always watch a few of your videos throughout the day when I feel unmotivated. They've helped me so much and I'm just here to encourage you to keep doing what you're doing. You're beautiful inside and out, you help so many people, and you're the perfect role model!!

    • @ballwa8
      @ballwa8 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Going to bed at 8 and waking up at 6:30 is a terrible idea - you'd get about 10 hours of sleep, which is way too much for most of us. The recommended amount of sleep you need is 7-8 hours.
First of all, you need to figure out why you want to wake up early. Do you do it so that you can get some studying done, or some cleaning? Maybe you want to work on some personal projects? Or perhabs you just want to take a nice walk around town before you head into school? Whatever the reason may be, there are a few things you need to do before commiting to a new bed-time and a new rising hour. These are just some stuff that helped me to wake up at 5:00-5:40 almost every day.
You need to experiment with different sleep-durations if you can and then find out what is the best for you. I find I am the most fresh when I sleep for 7 hours and anything between 7:30 and 8:30 is fine, but more would definitely result in me being sluggish.
Then you figure out when you want to wake up and when you have to go to bed in order to get enough sleep (take note of the amount of time it roughly takes you to get to sleep after going to bed). For instance, say you want to wake up at 5 and you do best when you sleep for 7 hours and it takes you about 20 minutes to fall asleep - that would result in a bed-time of around 9:40.
You also need some time before going to bed when you just wind down and do some activities you find relaxing or amusing - this can be meditating, watching TH-cam videos, anything really that makes you happy - as I find I sleep much better and much easier if I have some time for myself feeling relaxed; for example, taking a shower is something I would recommend.
Then there are easy tricks: place the watch on the other side of the room, maybe on a shelf, get a water bottle or a glass of water next to it or close to it, so that you can drink as you wake up, turning on your lights when you wake up, etc.
Hope things go well and that I could help!

Im in my thrid year at birmingham university and i can tell you most people do very little work in first year! I think lectureres just tell us 8 hours a day to encourage people who are doing very little to do more but there certainly wasnt enough work for me to do 8 hours a day in first year. So dont worry too much you are definitly doing enough. Enjoy first year while it lasts bescause you will definilty be working 8 hours a day in third year!

  • @duck6100
    @duck6100 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

personally, and people might find this a bit depressing, but for me being productive isn't about whether or not I'm motivated to work, it's about not being motivated to work but doing it anyway. I just find it helpful to acknowledge I'm not motivated so then I can force myself to do things anyway, even if it's literally the last thing I want to do. It sounds awful but I have January exams and I'm aiming for above 75%

    Hi Rubby !
From the perspective of someone who's finished uni (and I've done 2 masters !), you definitely work enough hours per day ! If you start studying at 5-6 till 11-ish everyday, then you work for 5 to 6 solid hours and as you are an active student, you might work faster than your pears which is totally normal and fine. It's definitely a good thing and you get time to read and socialize on the side, so you got the best of every world. Well done to you girl, it's something to be proud and there's nothing to fret about !
    Hope this reassures you !

    Hi Ruby,
I totally understand the transition into a new type of school and not having enough to do / work on. I experienced this when I transitioned to graduate school from my undergraduate program (USA-based). I found that I have a lot of extra time, on top of my studies and my assistantship/job. I'm still trying to find productive means of filling up the time including reading, walking, etc, but I also schedule in my "unproductive" times where I can just vegetate and not do anything. I still feel like I have too much unproductive time so I empathize with trying to find your balance in college. Hope it turns out better!

You are such a kick-ass, really pulling of the studying!!! I am even surprise you also stuggle sometimes. That actually makes you even more natural and relatable! Thank you for your videos. 🖤Greetings from Prague

Hi Ruby, i'm a third year university student and I know exactly how you feel when you say you should be doing 8 hours but dont have enough to do! That's literally me at the moment, im so on top of everything/ahead and im sat around feeling bad like i should be doing more but sometimes there just isn't'! Just take that time to chill and do extra hobbies and society things! Or volunteering/work experience :) xx

Really enjoyed this video! Please make more like these, this video is so relatable and I like your videos that are very real and raw because you are not alone in feeling unproductive.

Ruby, I hope you realise that pretty much no one actually does as much uni work as is "recommended". You're way ahead, so don't worry about not doing enough or being done early - that's great! First year is usually relatively easy in comparison to the following years, so just don't burn yourself out and enjoy the free time!

Wake up at 5am and finish work at 11am and then spend the rest of the day reading books and hanging out with friends 📚 - sounds pretty awesome 👏 my lack of organisation is probably why I don’t even have time to read books.

In regards to you not feeling like you've done enough work, I'm in first year as well and I was in the exact same position until a few weeks ago (we start earlier than Exeter) my course is a bit intense and now that we've gotten round to exams I find myself filling up the time no bother, so definitely don't worry, as long as you're on top of everything then you're doing the right amount of study :)
