Playing Ys memories of Celcetta for the first time on my Vida is what made me fall in love with the series and I did not *STOP playing it until I unlocked the platinum and then I follow through with getting Lacrimosa of Dana as soon as it came out and I’ve been playing both it and Monstrum NOX on PS4!!!
You could say I’m a full-fledged fan of the series now!!
    Awesome video dude!!

Same here. I read the spoiler before playing the game. But I'm glad I decided to play it anyway. Amazing from beginning to end.

Awesome review! I completed Ys 8 on PS4 a few weeks ago and it has made me want to go back and play the other ys games. Just found your channel thanks to Tarks Gauntlet and am glad to be a new sub! -Danny

Glad to have you on board. Thanks for the subscription. memories of Celceta is another great game available on PS4. I'd recommend that one next it's got the same party structure as 8.

Good review! Just bought this. Am new to YS and jrpgs in general, not to mention using a controller on PC. Picked up a lot of tips from your clear explanations of the game’s features.

There is a fruit smoothie recipe you can find that resets the food buff, allowing you to eat food again. Just like the game rations your number of healing bottles (and entices you to spend them for EXTRA potions instead of healing), food buffs restrict you from spamming their use for healing. If anything, the game is extremely generous with healing as you can have tons of fruit to heal, and ripe fruit to even revive.

I know I'm late but this was a really well done review! If you're still active I'm looking forward to whatever reviews/content you have planned for the future especially if it's JRPG related.

Fantastic video! Ys 8 is one of my favorite games of all time and is a stellar experience that I’ve come to love a ton! This video did a fantastic job reviewing the game and capturing what made it so special. You earned yourself a subscriber! Also you are correct about it being a good starting point in the series it was my first Ys game and since then I’ve played 1 and 2 along with origin! Again fantastic video and I hope you have a fantastic day! (Who’s your favorite character in Ys 8 btw)

Thank you for the kind words. Favorite Ys VIII character. That is a hard one. Laxia and Sahad were really cool. If I had to pick one I think I would go with the blacksmith lady. Absolutely thought she was awesome.

@@GamingWithSpoons Kathleen is a fantastic character but my favorite character has to be hummel. He’s just so cool but a close runner up has to be ricotta she is just really wholesome. Ricotta’s interactions are just really sweet and her quests are so cool.

I actually hated hummel at first but he really started to grow on me after a bit and I liked him. Ricotta was interesting but in a good way.

Definitely the Ys games all have connected lore but are all stand alone like Zelda. I totally recommend starting with this game. :) Hope you enjoy it.

You certainly can play this game without playing the predecessors, but a word of warning just HAS to be given!
You see - Chances are big you like this game so much you are at risk you want to buy the other games in this series. This can have major implications for your available free time, so be warned...
All joking beside. Yes you can play this game without needing to play the other. I will even add another game from Falcom that's (as far as I know) not reviewed on this channel. It's a game that is a hybrid of the Trails series way of story telling and the action game-play of the Ys series. It's called Tokyo Xanadu eX+, and it's a game that play's in modern day Japan (so no fantasy world location wise). It's a stand-alone game that has no connection with either the Trails or the Ys series (apart from the game engine). I personally liked that game very much, and I really hope it gets a successor. That said - Take a look at the Steam or GOG page to see if it's your "cup of tea". Keep in mind that this game has no English voice acting, only Japanese. This did not bothered me that much, because the English subtitiling is good enough, and a lot of games I play are the same in that respect. A little hint - This game is often available at a (very) reduced price, so it's worth it to keep an eye on the store page(s).
