This is incredible. Thanks for all the revisions and changes over the years. Definitely ordering this set when I can get a hold of the recommended AC Infinity fan.
So glad I found your videos! I’m wondering if you’ve ever thought about adapting your system to a mini split filtration system. I think Jay Bates has done a few videos on this topic. Also could be worth exploring using a quad filter with a mini split to see if it filters the air enough to still use the factory filter in the mini split. Mini splits are becoming popular in workshops and garages, so I think a product aimed at mini splits could be popular.
Great work! Recommend addressing very tall ceilings with a chain application. It would also be helpful to provide guidance on the placement and orientation for best results. I was under the impression that you want to create a circular airflow pattern.
Thank you! I will be working on a tall ceiling option some day soon. I'd also like to do a video entirely on fan location/orientation as well. Thanks for the comment!
I love all the info you've published, its been super helpful in my research of air filtration for my garage. Does the AC Infinity Cloudlift resume last state when power is restored to it? If I leave it on high and unplug and re-plug it in, will it come back on at high speed? I need this as I am going to use a "smart plug" and Home Assistant to turn the fan on with a remote (already used for turning on extra ceiling lights when working in the garage vs just moving cars in/out), and keep the fan running after I am done in the garage for a few hours. If not, perhaps the CAT fan is the right option for me. Thanks!
If you're not a part of the SLWG there may be a solid group of woodworkers that may be a good source of income for your work. If my grandfathers shop is any indication, these old guys don't know how bad they need air filtration. It's also one hell of a deal just being a member.
If you haven't "Subscribed, Bell, All," you're missing out. Looking forward to picking up the Model B: Charcoal Edition in a few paychecks. Can't wait for your video on making filters last longer. Clean air ain't cheap, but it's worth it!
Dude, next im going to need you to do the voice over for an instructional video on the Blem-Co 2023 Somolflange 32-rxq, with optional vemflarps and oscillating shamprons in the 42 megawatt range 😂
Have you tried to test levels at PM0.3 or lower? I know the sub-1.0 particles are super dangerous. I wonder if they are any differences in mechanics than what you're measuring. Clearly you'd need Merv17 or higher to really handle those, so maybe it's just a matter of the right set of pre-filters in front of them.
I love your kits but can you make one for the Lennox X6675 Carbon Clean 20" x 25" element? And I'd like the filters to be flush with the outside. We live in the desert and dust & pollen is a big deal here. I think 4 of these with a Cat fan would be awesome, but it's got to look nice of the wife will nix the deal. 🙂 Thank you. PS. Check out the Vortex VTX1000S S Line S-1000 10 in Fan 1081 CFM, Black and S-800 700 CFM ducted fans. They are more expensive, but they are quieter. We have one of each and they have been exceptional performers for us.
Do you think the filtering performance of this design would drop if we instead used 20x20x1 filters like in a typical CR box but with the Cloudlift fan?
Last Q! I don’t see an AC Infinity Cloudline 12”? There is the s14, but that’s 14”. That’s what your Amazon link goes too. Just double checking before I order things
Looks like they ran out of stock again today. Same thing happened last month. AC Infinity says that they restock amazon in the first week of the month, so there will be more before I am able to ship your kit. But if you want to order it now, you can order the 12" fan from AC Infinity's website directly.
A few questions: Love that you included different filter sizes for the 2 fan options. I’m in a tight space, but want to use the 12” fan. I’m leaning towards smaller filter sizes, 14x20, but is 16x30 going to be *dramatically* better? I’m in small single bay garage space. I’m also somewhat curious which filter sizes are most commonly used, from a cost perspective. If 14x20 exists, but it’s less common, will my cost over time increase… or am I over thinking :) Lastly, are your hanging brackets designed to allow what you’d consider proper gap from the ceiling / wall to let the facing filter be effective? As I was noodling my own plans, I considered having that be a solid board, and using 3 14x20’s, and 1 20x20 for a more square shape similar to the generic hanging dust filters for woodworking. But maybe your rectangle design similar to canisters is better than a square? Or that’s less of a direct impact?
It's always good to have options! For the 12" Cloudlift fan, 14x20" filters will be on the small side. 16x30" filters will be noticeably better. If you compromise with the 14x30"s you will have 50% more filter area than the 14x20" for only a slightly longer footprint. Typically the larger the filter is, the more cost effective it tends to be. Some filter sizes are a bit more obscure so that rule is not always true. Yes, the bracket length is designed to allow for about 4-5" of space between the filter and the wall. I definitely forgot to mention that! All the filters are very important and closing them off will dramatically reduce performance of the device. If you want a one or 2 sided filter, you would need to still use the same number of filters. More filters is always better. Let me know if you have any more questions!
I'd like to buy the kit from your Etsy store but the recommended fan (AC Infinity CLOUDLIFT S12) is unavailable/out of stock on Amazon and on the AC Infinity website. Do you have an alternative fan you'd recommend? Thanks.
He's mentioned talking to AC infinity and said Amazon restocks every 2nd week or something. I can't remember exactly but hold tight and keep checking. ,
Thank you for the video. I helped in assisting your future R&D. I emailed you in Etsy concerning possibly please getting some help in my one room, one car garage approximate square footage if you will, but it’s in the basement, possible set ups. I’m all in to either purchase whatever clips and filter units set up or what have you. I’d appreciate any help thank you, sir Phil.
How do I find out the status of my order from 3 weeks ago. I ordered through ETSY. I am not on ESTY and don't want to create an account just to find out shipping information. There is no other way to contact shown on your website. Im not on twitter either.
Hi! Sorry for the confusion. You can contact me in the upper right hand corner of the Etsy page without making an account, I think others have done that before. Also maybe you can reply through the order receipt email you got from etsy maybe? www.etsy.com/shop/The3DHandyman I'm not sure if I just shipped your order or not. If you reply with the last 4 digits of your order # I can get you an update. That way you don't have to post your name in the comments.
I’d like to contact you. I tried to find a contact email on your homepage. I can’t seem to find it. I’m interested in various set ups, but I’d like to send you pictures and information to my area of need and various set ups. You would suggest how can I contact you directly?
Two or three hundred dollars for some extruded plastic and shrouds is craaaaaazy! Then you have to buy more crap and invest more time to build the stupid thing. I’d have considered not making my own and using a kit if it weren’t more than a high quality hepa unit.
Thanks! Absolutely the best videos on dust and how best to mitigate it that I have seen out there. Many many thanks.
The people are pleased. The people demand the pre filter video by tonight but with more jokes.
That's the next one up. The will be about 2 weeks if you want jokes. Haha

i think you could get away with just two hooks on the ceiling and let it hang like a diamond
Depends on the ceiling I guess. My wood shop has 8’ ceilings and the “diamond dangle” would get in the way.
You can definitely hang it like a diamond as long as you have the ceiling space 👍
