    Josh had a drill progression with that video that I found helpful getting the elbow out in front. And I think he does mention if you do a wide-rail reach out, you can grip-lock it way to the right like that. I did the same thing lol.

    Thanks, appreciate the re-visit on this, hard to execute things we think we know on a consistent basis, or any basis. You are the Wendy's double to Overthrow's taco burger.

    I think it was Tyler Tiede recently who posted about grip/snap that I think is helping. I still do the four finger power grip, but I really only pinch hard between the forefinger and thumb. The other fingers are still in the power grip position, but I try to keep them loose. More time needed, but I think it's helping get the disc to rip out rather than letting go. Working on that and Josh's elbow/deep pocket drive at the same time.

    So funny, I was out on the course yesterday and decided on one tee to try Josh’s suggestion of getting the elbow through the body before the shoulders swing around, and the exact same thing happened to me, shanked it hard right. HARD right. I told the guys that I was just tinkering with my form lol

    1:29 reaching straight back behind you works fine if you have a fast enough arm to get into the pocket before you overrotate your shoulders to a point where the hand falls behind and come into your left shoulder/pec

      Yeah I reach straight back or even a little too far behind me, and I’m average about 460ft and can get some over 500

    I have made couple comments earlier about foot work and timing. In my opinion those are still the biggest issue with the form and I would say fixing those would add at least 20-25 meters to your throw. Plant foot is open when you brace. Try to keep it at least 90° from the target. Your "reachback" is too early and you fall down to your throw. Try to fix it by taking shorter last step and actively delay your shoulder turn a couple milliseconds. I'm not sure if there is point to add different fine tuning methods to your shot when the foundation isn't there yet. Those new things could make it harder to be consistent and in the worst case could cause injury.

      Wow you’re right, I went back and watched his slow mo in slower mo and his front foot was facing forward and his back foot was facing backwards, feet wide open.

    The wide rail can be a useful cue but I don't think that is the fix you need. Also you started out with an extreme wide rail, which can only cause those "griplock" style problems. In my opinion when you start with a change like this you need to make incremental changes. Reach out to the 7 o'clock position instead of 6. Once you dial that in, see how your form changed, and see if you need to try more of an 8 o'clock position. But I think you need to prioritize your fixes. From the ground up your plant foot is really open when you brace. It needs to be perpendicular to the direction of the throw. Regarding your swing I think you can work on pulling the disc deeper into your pocket, in addition to slightly increased wide rail. Regardless, even with your current form you can throw pretty far and the discs come out really smoothly. You've made a ton of progress, Dylan! 🙂

    Watch your latest video with the new found power, you are rounding, your release is when your shoulders are starting to be facing your target and it's why you yanked a few of them to the right. VS the arm forcing your shoulders around after release.. Just my $000000001 I enjoy your channel my friend!

    OT would say you dont want to reach out as much if you are trying to slow your shoulders and do more arming. Thats why it went so far left on the first try

    i am emphasising a Deep Pocket, and having some of the same straight pulls and turnovers that you experienced.
    Im going to try deep pocket AND keeping my front shoulder Driving Through the shot… i believe my Deep Pocket has me over rotating at release. I need to drive through the shot

  • @chefdave28

    The core of the issue is the notion of "reaching" either back, wide-rail, out. There should never be "reaching"; the muscles of the throwing arm should just be engaged enough to hold the disc but not for throwing. I think of it more like a "bonuce-back" or "bounce wide-rail". Everything is the body should be allowing you to get to that position besides your throwing arm. Once you engage the muscles of that throwing arm to "reach" your throwing potential is lost.

    From watching your form, you need to keep your hip up on the x step. All pros do this. There’s a video somewhere where they have Simon, Calvin, Gannon, and Cole all doing the same shot. All of them have there hip higher up than you do.

    Your reach back is your aim. That's the problem with this technique. I've seen Catrina Allen have that problem. It's not a griplock, it's the biomechanics of your aiming.

    • @theemonegro
      @theemonegro 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem with your theory is Simon eagle mcbeth Gibson heimberg buhr Isaac Robinson Ezra aderhold David Wiggins Jr, double g, Thomas Gilbert, what all of them do is us the elbow as the aim. you get into the power pocket properly and where the disc is pointed before hand doesn't matter. Or are you going to try and say Ricky wysocki can't throw 450-500?

    • @Jasbalken
      @Jasbalken 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@theemonegro I'm not referring to leading with the elbow, it's the reaching OUT part that causes the problem with the aiming and why he shanked his drive off to the right and had to consciously correct his bad form.
