If anyone’s curious how this compares to a VW Golf R off the mark give this video a watch th-cam.com/video/ryVYKNJ7k-8/w-d-xo.html For those who already know the outcome of this race, let that be our little secret 😏
I had one of these a few years ago and I can honestly say I agree with every word Calvin's just said. Every time I climbed into it, it put a smile on my face and the sound it makes is just about the best of any car you can find. I only ever received appreciative looks, acknowledgements and thumbs up everywhere I went (and even from a few celebs in London I recognised). Seriously, never any nasty looks - let out at junctions and people moved out the way on motorways. Never experienced that before or since but that is the charisma this car exudes. It is very heavy, and feels it, but also feels very solid and well built. It was surprisingly reliable but expensive when anything did need attention but I didn't mind as it genuinely had every feel good factor. It's not the fastest car on the road but the way it shifts you is a sheer joy. And you can genuinely accommodate 4 six-footers with proper comfort, something you could never say of a 911, Aston or Ferrari - all of which I'd tried but rejected for one reason or another. The tech is dated now but it provides everything you need and it all works. It's a great car, incredible value to buy, expensive to own and run but worth every penny for the sheer joy it delivers. Calvin's review is spot on...
@@panueldunuel7449 I always used the main dealer to maintain my extended warranty and they were expensive, but a reassuringly good service. If you buy used from a main dealer at present they're including 2 years warranty and servicing, which is worth quite a lot and gives the reassurance you need with what will always be an expensive car to own and run.
@@panueldunuel7449 Reliability , I never experienced any problems other than a cracked suspension wishbone (picked up at the service and covered by the warranty) and the battery often running flat when I used it infrequently. This is common to all high performance cars, though - my quattroporte is the same as have been other manufacturers. You just need to keep the battery regularly topped up. Other than these (and the fact it can quickly eat through the expensive tyres) I never experienced any reliability issues.
One of the best looking cars. Plenty of power for passing people on the highway. It's also a two tonne tank so, like an SUV, you'd definitely come off better in most collisions.
Thanks Calvin, I’m looking at buying one of these at the moment...after watching your review in full , I’m now convinced. Great channel, essential petrol head viewing. ATB .
Nice to hear someone mention the seats are comfortable, most of the reviews moan about the seats not being supportive enough (in which case sod off and buy a car that’s a dedicated sports model not a grand tourer). The infotainment system is borrowed from Citroen which is actually a good set up and easily upgraded The main caveat to owning a used Maserati is buying one that’s got top level service history and the owners looked after it, if even one item has been skimmed on then walk away
I have the 2014 GT Sport model, the seats are incredibly comfortable! I drive it daily and have taken it on about 10 road trips from 3 to 8 hours in the last 2 years. Most comfortable road car I've ever driven over distance. The seats are perfectly ergonomic for long hauls. A full tank of gas will usually get me 450 miles on the highway. But only about 300 in the city. A grand tourer's gas tank, 22.8 gallon to fill from empty.
Great video! Love the passion in it. Car looks astoundingly good and the biggest back seat going for a coupe which is what is selling me. Think I'm going to get one as a barnstorming family car.
Great Videos Calvin, Very clear narrative and easy to watch. I think I have watched most now! I love this car and it is great Value used now. Your Videos are very under rated and you should have way more hits/Subscribers for all the effort I can see you put in :) p.s I have seen you driving about in the GTR ;) Just Subscribed. 👍
nice car ,im looking at maseratis on a budget ! fancy something understated but classy, keep up the good work calvin, all the best .....................
Cool review , looking to buy 2013 facelift 4.7mc shift carbon spec, I’ve noticed prices are slowing going up for these beasts ...I like Maserati because there’s too many common cars out there like the BMW’s and Mercs Audi
Hi I had a CL63 and I can tell you I have had many cars from Bentley continental gt to M6'S etc love coupes and can say the CL63 is one of the best all rounders I've owned, its quick, amazingly comfortable, the spec is just amazing, it's the longest car I've owned (9 months) so my advice is go and test both and see what you think. Am considering a Maserati which is a step up in branding but just bare in mind the CL63 will leave it standing!m, but something just draws me to the Maserati so will go and test drive one soon. Good luck 👍
This is quite a bit more money than both M3’s so probably not too comparable. Out of the 3 though I’d still go for the Maserati. It’s a higher level of car, a V8 M3 would definitely out perform a Maserati but a Maserati is a Maserati. It has Supercar presence for for sports car money.
Awesome! I really like this. Im currently doing a series on here trying to find the ultimate car for £30k.. are you telling me I need to do a video on one of these and that it could be a contender? ;) check out my latest video with a 2017 Civic Type R, keep up the work bro.
Aerial Supercars hi mate, funnily enough I done a similar thing last year and ended up with the gtr. I just watched your vid and thought it was brilliant. I definitely think the Maserati is a good shout as a contender. I reckon F10 M5’s are also very good value for money.
Calvin's Car Diary the GTR is a good shout. Obviously not 30k though. The idea for the series started as I am looking at V8 Vantages etc people kept saying they would rather a new car the a 6-7 year old car. Fancy doing a video together? 😎
However.....the elephant in the room is ----> Can you afford to maintain it? I own one. It's not cheap to keep up with the maintenance and if something really goes wrong....not only will you be out HUGE cash, you will have to wait forEVER for the parts to come from the "source" in Italy. The love affair will be short lived. It's like a hot summer romance when you buy one, then years later you realize how toxic it was.
You struggle to compare it to so many different things, “it looks like a Ferrari, but…”; “it feels like a Bentley but… “; it’s up there with Porsche…” ; “I’d compare it to an Aston Martin but…” How about it’s just a Maserati? 🤷♂️

Calvin's Car Diary the MC Shift granturismo S has the same gearbox as the 599. The ZF auto is different.
Who gives a Golf a second look R or otherwise its just a Golf. My Mas always turns heads
Oh I do love these Maseratis so much. I am checking the classifieds now! Awesome video as always mate.

I'm considering getting one, what is the service cost and reliability like ? Cheers

Great review....I've had mine, a 2012 for 4 yrs and 16k miles...love every second of it😎🍻
darren schwartz any issues? Been looking at an 09 plate around 50k miles

Pavlin thank you 🙏🏼
Totally agree.I bought an audi RS5 a year ago because of calvins review and now i have just bough a nissan GTR after watching the GTR diarys.👍
That sound is beautiful and youre right - so much car for the money! Good review mate 👍
gotta get the 13 model or up. that face lift around the bumper is game changing
Or an 08 and a body kit...
@@sahmedt9 yea older models are amazing even
nice one bud! im considering one of these =) good video, keep it up
I bought one today. I absolutely love it.
Zf automatica or cambiocorsa?
@@wernermuller9856 ZF automatic. My previous "toy" car was a V10 BMW M5 which was a great car but seriously let down by the gearbox.
In the day i loved the 3200 GT, beautiful cars and this is just stunning - something different from the norm

Maserati gets my vote over Ferrari. That’s juts me.
Like how you got that ambulance to drive by on cue..nice touch

Cant really decide which car I should buy between these two> GranTurismo or CL63.. Which do you recommend & why?
Hi I had a CL63 and I can tell you I have had many cars from Bentley continental gt to M6'S etc love coupes and can say the CL63 is one of the best all rounders I've owned, its quick, amazingly comfortable, the spec is just amazing, it's the longest car I've owned (9 months) so my advice is go and test both and see what you think. So strange, I was (as in last week) set on buying a C63 AMG but now I’m set on a GranTurismo S. Coincidence I suppose.
Great Review by the Way !!!! I want one but what year from 2008-2017 they look the Same almost what year you Recommend?
Why doesn't this channel got more subscribers? Really nice review and channel.
Timeless design till today, this car was 50 yrs ahead of its time, it's a Rolex in cars.
Awesome vid cuzzz
have you not driven the mc stradale yet?
Great review brother! I’m in market for a granturismo sport 2013 -2014
But what Year is this Mate?
another great video ...
This really helped me Calvin- Thank you.
The Cambiocorsa version has the same gearbox as the Ferrari 599, not the automatic version in your video
Calvin, keep up. Ienjoy your research.
Quick question is the maser gts that good? As I'm stupidly tempted.
Don't know about anyone else. You sold that car to me. It sounded so nice I would of ripped the radio out and threw it out of the window.
What’s the running cost and stuff
Would you prefer this to a 2015 Jaguar F-type?
All day everyday maserati...
man sounds like Kell Brook XD - this is gonna be my future car!!!
You have the zf automatic and not the f1 gearbox from the 599
Good luck with your team today
Does anybody know what color is that? Alfieri grigio?
Keep it up!!!!!
Need the 4.7 in there
Class video!
"I love how it feels and smells inside" - some dude in a car (2017)
smashed it bro
Calvin been eating too many pork pies since this upload ...😛
That ZF 6 speed is not the tranny out of a 599…that is the MC shift version
Driven many porsches none of them are as exciting as any maserati especially this one. What a car
It’s not the S version and it’s a ZF auto box
Interior like Alfa romeo 159 same seats
If I was rich I would get a Porsche Turbo S, Bentley Supersport, Maserati GranTurism life will be complete
if your in dunstable you need as much power as possible to get away as quickly as you can !
If you had to buy this, an e46 M3 or an E92 M3, which one would it be and why?

If u have Maserati GT,
U will have 3 girlfriend
If u got 911
U only can get one
Who wa so thin like paper
4.2 its already big Engine 👀

Great video but HOLD the damn Wheel when driving!
If you want comfort? Go for a Maserati, if you want speed? Then go for a Ferrari. Dude, you're driving around Fareham/ Portsmouth, aren't you?
Hi there,
