    EPISODE 53.
Having installed the new Stem, it’s time to replace all the frames in the bow of the boat! Eight awesome volunteers show up and we get straight to work, training them to build double-sawn Live Oak frames. We start out at half-speed while everyone learns their jobs, and then gradually increase the pace. My old friend Joe is helping out with filming and editing, while his girlfriend Nadine cooks for us. I have a feeling that the tea-break banter is going to be strong, this month!

I stumbled across this channel perhaps a week or so ago, I really don't know. Pretty much been watching all 53 videos nonstop. I think my wife may have left me a few days ago. I need a shower. And a shave. I must eat something.
Seriously, this has got to be the best thing on TH-cam. Bar none.
What a great contribution from the Albert Strange Association in sponsoring Finn.
Someone one said if you can't help everyone, at least help one.
Hats off to Leo for passing on his knowledge at the same time as learning new skills himself such as man management etc.

This video series is a fantastic example of how human society functions. Leo just started filming his SOLO adventure. His insane idea that he could save this ship. But he is a genius at making videos, though I suspect to this day he does not know that. His crazy devotion to this idea of building a WOODEN boat, for no other reason but love of the history, the passion he brings to it, inspired people all over the world, to come join him in his endeavor. (The trucker who delivered the boat from Oregon to Sequim, built a chainsaw jig for this project. That is how Leo inspires the best in people.) I find this one in particular delightful. Several people derived so much satisfaction from their first stint that they are back for more. You rock Leo.

While I have no doubt you could have rebuilt Tally by yourself...I also doubt I would have lived to see that completion. So appreciative for all the volunteers!!! My major regret is being too old (almost 70) to throw my hat in with the rest of the volunteers. But I'm sweating vicariously at home and saluting as each new frame finds its home on Tally. I'm 72 and do woodworking every day, but not this kind on the Tally Ho. This is real physical work for the young, strong, flexible, and resilient. I'd last about two hours, and then I'd be in the way. As Clint Eastwood would say: "A man has to know his limitations." Dear Sir.
I'm from Greece and have been following the rebuilding process since the beginning.
    I am an industrial automation technician (1970 - 1980)
Computer Engineer, Computer Network Technician (1980 - 2007)
    Special Developer (2007 - Today)
There is something that has really caught my interest in your work.
That is why I'm writing these words to you.
You have a great love for what you do, and that is the basis on which you rely.
But the great thing about you is that.
You pay very close attention to your measurements and your drawings.
You do not go (out in the air) but you do very carefully everything you have planned to do.
Paying very close attention to your measurements, counting the very last millimeters in cutting and machining the wood.
Which is very rare for a "wood craftsman"
Well done, you're great and you deserve a lot more than you may have so far.
Continue in this way and with your keen interest in rebuilding the ship "Tally Ho"
I am sure it will be the most beautiful boat ever made.

    One thing bewilders me...
    This is episode 53.
The support Leo engenders is absolutely deserved- I have never been so invested in anything on a screen since Breaking Bad-
So how do 103 people give it a thumbs down ???

Looking at the stacks of planks Leo is working with for just one ship and I cant help but imagine what a shipyard in the 1700's or 1800's. There must have been thousands of stacks of lumber of every imaginable size and type of tree. Must have been astounding to see.

Fascinating as always. You exhibit so many talents beyond boat building. Your people skills are amazing and your willingness to patiently train and delegate is so generous. It must be tough to turn over such exacting tasks to others when their skills at unfamiliar jobs is so important to the long term goal. You are doing so much more than restoring Tally Ho!

It appears that everyone is bringing skills to the boat project and taking new ones away. It can't get any better than that.

Leo and Cecca (and the flexible team), while triggering my own architectural practice in Switzerland, I have been stimulated by projects and websites like "30x40.com", "Acorn to Arabella" and now "Rebuilding Tally ho". I am sure you inspire and stimulate thousands with your drive and determination. Your reflection on "risk" when you cut off the end of your finger (lost the episode number - 40 something?) was a fantastic lesson on the need to "get up, go forward, keep going" and the very real need to shake off risk aversion. More strength to your elbow(s). Ash

FYI, Lestoil works wonders on getting roofing cement out of clothing, and off of your skin. If you pre-treat the clothes in a 5 gallon pail mixed with water and Lestoil before running through the washing machine, almost all of it will come out. Providing you can stand the smell, it’s a bit strong.

Your title said "Crew." Man, I really had my hopes up that you were getting ready to sail already and that this was possibly a seamanship training vid. Possibly some of these wonderful folks will be back next year as members of that "crew." I really love biweekly Saturdays and your latest videos, Leo. Cheers!

A song last video inspired me to track the group 'Wandering Jane' ( from Scotland) down and buy their CD. It just arrived and now I think about Tally Ho when I hear it. Thanks.
I so enjoy watching the building process. Takes me back to my youth when I did this for a living.

I've loved all of the videos to date, but this one is charming beyond all. That being said, watch that up and coming yard master setting the hands to their tasks. I'm looking to come up this winter when the help is hard to find, and throw a few days or the project.

I'm looking at the closing shots with Leo talking to camera and the new frames in the ascendant - What a great sight. It's not just the skill and the work rate that is so admirable - It's the sheer determination - I reckon Leo could rule the world if that's what he decided to do! Brilliant brilliant project - there still a long way to go but this is starting to look so good.

since the frames have to be cut with angles they come in distinctly left and right handed pairs, but I'm sure if I were doing this build I'd end up with more left than right or vise versa, glad you've figured out how to do it right !!!

As you publish each new episode it becomes apparent that your acquisition of the saw (Ep 22) if not required nonetheless has allowed the pace of the project to speed up significantly. In retrospect, a very wise decision to acquire it. I always enjoy watching it in action. Thanks for the uploads Leo and a viewer's thanks to all who are helping...
