You did a great job with showcasing cards and narrating your thoughts, to the point where I was getting anxiety seeing your timer tick near zero before you make your selection hahaha, real nail biter draft strats!
I'm trying my best to give the people what they want. I know people aren't familiar with the cards so I'm trying to give as much time as possible for people to figure out what my considerations are. But yes, I also got nervous haha!
Your content and the way you explain everything is really great. Im learning alot from watching you! I just started with sealed and got my first 6 Wins ever today :)
At 57:47 a better play would be to block with the Chrysalis and sac both spawns and use the enchantment to kill the glyph, right? Or am I missing something? Though i guess then you wouldn't be able to play the altosaur the next turn so maybe not. Anyway, thanks for the great content, I learn a lot from your videos!
I wouldn't sweat talking through the cards this early in the set. Just what interests you, its not fair to try and talk through 14 new cards in every pack while trying to keep your thoughts straight. Doing great sir.
i had a great start with this set yesterday, double 0-3! woohoo The biggest challenge i'm having is correctly determining my land count, and how many spells lands vs normal lands i should play. My first deck, RW energy, i tried 13 lands + 4 spell lands, since my curve ended at 2x 4 drops. Then for my second deck, GBx, I played 15+5 spell lands, 3 of which were Fell the Profane but it just didn't work out. Notable losses were to Mono Red and then Sultai - where they had the black connive land and just kept putting +1/+1 counters on evolution witness. I also ran into Hope Ender Coatl TWICE, and even had someone steal one of my 7 drops with the izzet coin flip counter spell. It wasn't fun.
This set is gonna take me some getting used to. Out of 3 drafts so far I had a 3-3, a 7-1, and a 2-3. Green white modify is absolutely busted is the only thing I know so far lol.
Your take on the eldrazzi basically trumping any mid range strategies feels like its true. Its still pretty early but the big bodies and annilator kinda abilities are game changers. Nice plays and strong draft,
interestingly, a disproportionate amount of red aggro decks are trophying on 17lands. Maybe that’s just because aggro naturally preys on clunky d1 decks but perhaps aggro is sleeper broken?
i got excited to see this video description when i sat down after work today. im going to a draft on friday and was thinking of different archtypes i think are strong. Temur eldrazi did cross my mind but i think simic or gruul eldrazi might be more stable in a limited format. also golgari eldrazi. you get the removal and ramp to make it to dropping your win cons. and maybe some discard madness/ playing from graveyard shenanigans. also BUG/Sultai eldrazi probably can work. card draw, ramp, removal. been brainstorming a lot.
Excited for the content Paul, double videos? Oh yeah!! Wanted to note for you that nesting grounds can be incredible with Nadu since it's a double trigger and you dont need to have counters to move.
Really love the commentary, pack two I would have taken the energy looter simply as a two mana body, which you ended up doing pack three. Also, the weird signals is probably folks not knowing what the good cards are.
Awesome deck. Was like hes goin dimir, then jund, then simic and ended up 7-0 with temur n the best common in the set. If they r watching on youtube they can pause to read any card in the pack when u r draftin. I wanted to know the one white rare from early access yet it seemed more of a constructed card. As always enjoyed the video n this set looks fun to draft.
I've found that it doesn't really matter much for the top end cards. You will usually have enough ways to generate spawn tokens that you end up being okay.
yeah, I agree that eldrazi invalidate midrange strategies, especially given writhing chrysalis is the best midrange card we’ve seen in a while. congrats on the first of many trophies!
Now, we really have our top end covered and we wanna be focussing on cheaper cards. Oh wow, there is rhis bomb costing 8 mana, which I really habe to take. But now, we really want to focus on cheaper cards... rinse and repeat. 😅
On a serious note, are there any good rares in this set? I’ve done about 6 drafts and the only rare I’ve taken was Nadu (2x) and it felt like an uncommon. It’s a big switch coming from Outlaws.
Congrats Paul !! Good luck for the season !
Thank you!
@42:45 you didnt have colorless mana

So true, i realised just how good when watching other drafters and getting annoyed with them haha
Great job, Paul. Really enjoy the content.
Glad you enjoyed!
I love your humility. Post 1st game “Ok we ramped a little better there”. Your videos are great thank you!
Thank you!

Great to hear and congrats!
we see your effort and appreciate all you do, keep it up!
Thanks, will do!

You should take a look at the comments! But yeah I’m doing my best to balance both
Thanks Paul
No problem!

Oof sorry to hear about that start

I still haven't drafted it but I want to try!

Great content. Keep it up.
Btw. You couldn't emerge because the emerge cost had an actual colorless cost, and you didn't have a colorless source.
This makes a lot more sense haha
Lets go Paul!
Let's goooo!!!
Excited for the content Paul, double videos? Oh yeah!! Wanted to note for you that nesting grounds can be incredible with Nadu since it's a double trigger and you dont need to have counters to move.
Great callout! Nadu is busted!

Absolutely right on the signals.
Excellent emerge usage riddlemastered all the opponents out!
Riddle me this
My favorite part was the opp who cc at 27 life lol
Paul you will most certainly hit rank 1 this season you have to defeat Eken you are our last hope lol
Tough task but I'm up for the challenge. They're already rank 1 haha
Isnt it likely he drew the land off of cycling the goblin? @ 44:30
probably

Happy comment
Watching the draft it looks like you skipped on several temur landscape lands. Even when you had a few eldrazi with colorless casting or emerge costs

66 percent games in hand win rate is wild
Yassss
woohoo!

look
@@haumph yeah, I mean this time you got a lot of 2-drops late, so it worked out just fine.
I think you do the best you can regarding hovering over the cards lol. If people want to read the card they should do the research on their own time…
In an ideal world but I know people aren't actually going to do this!
Why not try to do two drafts a day. We can see more content and you can get to rank one! I believe in you
It's a lot...
Yeah I get it. Just want to say waiting for you video to come out every morning and watch them is one of the biggest fun everyday.
It’s your job but ya
It seems that it is much easier to trophy when onee is not playing against hall of famer
Yeah I just need to dodge them for sure haha
So many passed eldrazi ...
Can't take them all even if I tried!
Some of these opponents have to be paid actors.
It's day 1 of the format.
with those tickets you can get a free draft.... by paying 2800gems LOL
Day 324 of asking for a twitch stream

The rares definitely feel weaker but the uncommons are really strong. Particularly the eldrazi
