POSEIDON best IA mission. Kudos for the whole Underwater Vegas idea, and for putting Tideripper as the boss of it. Watching that leviathan gently swim in a giant aquarium was really... Something I'll never forget.
I spent maybe 2 additional hours looking for a way to get around it! I was so intimidated! When I gave up and said Fark it and swam straight for it did I realise that was the whole plan 🥲
Definitely the most memorable mission so far! My gosh how majestic and aetherial it was. I knew I was f*cked when I saw it swim by. Hate this glorious mothersnacker!
While the Slaughterspine is the new king of hunter-killer machines, the Tideripper pulls in a real close second. Those water attacks are no joke and the theme making the player think of the days when sailors would speak of cryptids, mermaids and monsters of the deep suits it perfectly.
When I fought my 1st Tideripper and saw the disc on his. I thought it was a satellite dish. But when it started spraying purgewater allover the place like a damn sprinkler. I was running in circles like a maniac; I was getting washed(literally). It was hilarious.
This is probably one of the most epic machine fights/theme. I guess since a new machine type after the classic Thunderjaw. Sure Plesiosaurs may not be as well known as a T. rex but they are still familiar enough that people know what they are. Plus it’s a Kaijuesque flipper beast that lumbers out of the water to fight you.
I remember coming across an upgrade that needed a Tideripper part, and I thought "What the heck is a Tideripper??" So my husband looked it up before I ever came across one. I kept guessing what it could possibly be... a Walrus? A seal? A shark?? He told me I'd never figure it out in a million years. When I first saw it during the side quest with Talanah and Adamis, I realized he was right. I never would have guessed I'd be fighting a gigantic murderous robotic Nessie.

@@Zyk0th I totally agree. I’ve been playing through the game a second time, and I did Poseidon’s quest much, much earlier. Granted, I knew what was coming. But I do think that’s the best time to see a Tideripper for the first time.

I remember having such a hard time with this machine on my first encounter. It was a super tough battle! But now I have it all figured out. Freeze, shoot off the tidal disc, refreeze, shoot vulnerable spots on the face, repeat. Goes down pretty fast when its water bending shenanigans are disabled! Hands down, best theme of HFW, imo. Can't wait for the Burning Shores DLC!
Freeze works pretty well, shock does too! If you're comfortable with the disclauncher, you can get a 2-in-1 effect of shocking the Tideripper while tearing off the tidal disc. And, once it gets stunned from the lightning, it makes it pretty easy to tear off other components and take it down too!
@@WiddershynIf you have maxed Elite Ropecaster, it's pretty easy to stun him and destroy their water disc. I also extract his tail to resource farm or selling for shards if i have enough XD.
The enemy progression between zero dawn and forbidden west fits the lore quite well. At first, the Thunderjaw and groundbreakers were the only true threats, most of the rest being comparatively small and much less thoroughly weaponised. Nowadays, those machines are everywhere: Although the groundbreaker is no longer a concern of Aloy's, many more take its place: slaughterspines, tremortusks, tiderippers... and one Horus you can fight if you go to the end of the currently available storyline. What's next? Perhaps Hephaestos will try to replicate that great beast in more variety, leaving Aloy with many, comparatively ankle-biting Hori, with less protection and size to allow for more elemental flexibility and agility? Perhaps it will work on smaller machines, such as a smaller groundbreaker, perhaps tasked with recon and acquisition? (I made fanart of that, it's private rn but I named it the tunneller) Or perhaps it will look to Aloy's versatility and come up with something completely different? Who knows? One thing's for sure: I can't wait for the next game to show up! Keep up the great work, Guerilla!

I had gone to Kappa with only 4 freeze bombs and a limited number of freeze arrows. The amount of times I wanted to bust my controller over my desk was soooooo many, because I just couldn’t bring it down and it would always kill me before I could reach the loot boxes around the arena.
When I first that theme, I felt in love with it. Like, the music makes us feel we are actually facing an aquatic beast. The violin rhythm in it is so enchanting, I'm feeling like im underwater in an epic fight. It's so cool.
I don't know if I'm the only one to notice, but the Tideripper has the shortest health out of the big machines. I am impressed by how this is a combat music froma water-dweling and water-based machine! It seems like a normal environmental soundtrack especially the first few seconds of the music.
While watching/fighting Tiderippers, or just swimming around, I sometimes wonder just how much trouble players with thalassophobia have with the water sections.

Going into the kappa cauldron was the most scariest thing I’ve ever done in this game. When your about to exit the cauldron, the game releases a tideripper under water and you have to find a way to lower the water levels.. meaning you have to swim by it 💀💀💀
They do have a thalassophobia setting in the game which lights up the underwater parts and provides unlimited air from the get go. Don't know how much that helps, as i don't suffer from it myself, but it's the first game i know of that features something like that. 👍
