    • @rogerrange4829
      @rogerrange4829 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While I agree the stands seem too high for my taste, they're not my models! 😁 Beyond that, it's not like base height matters at all in 8th/9th edition 40K, as Cover isn't counted the same way it used to be, so base height really doesn't matter, gaming-wise, so do whatever you think looks best for your purposes!
      I'm currently struggling with how to mount some of my Orlock Wrecker models in a take-off flying position (as they seem to have been sculpted on the decent). I do prefer the clear plastic flight stands over a solid black stem, but I'm going to have to get very creative with how to make it work to get the model where I want him over the base, and when in the proccess to attach it... 🤔

    Great conversion! One suggestion I have for doing the metal wire flight stand is to coil it exactly the same way, but to drill a hole through the base and push it up through, then green stuff over that. It'll give a 100% bulletproof attachment, and give you more flexibility for basing style

    Drill a hole in the center of the base and run the wire up the middle. This allows you to flip the model over and fill the base with epoxy or glue, and maybe press in a metal washer to add weight to the base. Also, given the other players I've talked to, the reason to use boxed poses and stands is that they tend to result in models being closer to the table and easier to place behind cover.

  • @scottgifford467

    Love the re-posing! I know you said no to an exhaust 'stand', but adding a bit of dust kicked up by the landing guy (maybe a doughnut of fluff with a thin matte varnish spray to lock it down) might take up some of the space and sell the 'landing' motion. Also, if you weigh down the bases, you can bend the wires to move the apparent center of gravity of the mini closer to the rim of the base. This can give the minis a more kinetic 'off-balance' look rather than appearing to hover. Thanks for the great video!

    Also, I defnitely agree with you on the smoke plumes, but I also don't like having them supported by something that isn't terrain where possible. To fix this on my Screamers of Tzeentch, I'm going to make some half-destroyed obelisks and arches and just just have the screamers posed like they're flying over them. When using flying models I like to have each of them lower to the ground than the last because it makes the appearance that they are flying, but they still look like they are engaged with other models when charging

    This is great. You think like I do and as an illustrator, you completely understand why the new proportions are better. Now I just have to decide whether I'm doing the same thing with my new box of Sanguinary Guard. I can't tell if I wanna go to the expense. But I hate that cartoony kit! It looks older than it actually is.

    Awesome conversion work! Conversions are one of my favorite parts of the hobby (which is why I like Necromunda so much), and this is an Ace project. Also, thanks for not leaning too hard onto the GW criticism; that's one of the thing that turns me off about the scratch-built community in general.
    And I totally agree with you concerning the Primaris versions of classic units; that's clearly the direction both the products & the lore are going. There's still a place for the old style/scale SM kits, but they almost certainly won't be making any new ones that way...

      It's funny, I hate building.. It's a chore since I want to paint without building first, BUT I obsess over conversions. Love them and made completely new minis out of parts

    08:11 buy acrylic plastic rods, probably 4mm diametar will be thick enough to carry marines. and you can cut different size rods.

    For the base, try drilling a hole through the base, and poking the wire through before putting the model on it. That allows for more freedom for base decoration.

    I'm a maker not a gamer, so apart from building & painting some orks [to accompany my scratchbuilt ork buggy, I'm not really into Warhammer Lore - but these adaptations are superb little sculpts and will look phenomenal painted up. Great one Eric
