    Argentinian here. Price control has only one effect, regardless of it's implemented: Shortage of goods and failing businesses. Not to mention that eventually, when the situation becomes unsustainable, prices will sky rocket beyond believe. If you add subsidies and printing money, you have the perfect recipe for inflation. Price control has been tried for centuries in many different countries. It never worked. Please learn from our mistakes.

    Several states already ban price gouging, several developed countries outside the USA already do. They're all fine. Yeah, the literal dumbest implementation of a price gouging ban would be bad, but that's not arguing in good faith. You are otherwise correct that price controls are unlikely to address the underlying issues.
    I agree with the second point and am uninformed on the third.

      Yes, you are correct the price gouging bans do exist in many states and the application varies but they typically apply during declared states of emergency and for essential goods.
