    Argentinian here. Price control has only one effect, regardless of it's implemented: Shortage of goods and failing businesses. Not to mention that eventually, when the situation becomes unsustainable, prices will sky rocket beyond believe. If you add subsidies and printing money, you have the perfect recipe for inflation. Price control has been tried for centuries in many different countries. It never worked. Please learn from our mistakes.

    Several states already ban price gouging, several developed countries outside the USA already do. They're all fine. Yeah, the literal dumbest implementation of a price gouging ban would be bad, but that's not arguing in good faith. You are otherwise correct that price controls are unlikely to address the underlying issues. I agree with the second point and am uninformed on the third.

    • @moneywithpriscilla
      @moneywithpriscilla 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, you are correct the price gouging bans do exist in many states and the application varies but they typically apply during declared states of emergency and for essential goods. A nationwide ban would likely have a different result. Thank you so much for sharing your opinion and for watching!

    This video could be more. I’m not seeing any worthwhile case studies or graphics. You’ve mentioned index funds but I think it’s worth looking into the opportunity costs of index funds including the support of the past engines that exist. “Old money” manipulation is rife in index funds as well as supporting things like factory farming, nuclear weapons, environmental pollution and general lack of innovation. That being said, when money sits in a bank, the bank is going to invest your money however THEY see fit, so it’s worth finding stocks, banks and wealth generation engines that align with your values and ideals as well as stocks that are gonna grant you a few extra grand when you die but your kids can’t drink the water or breath the air. Food for thought, keep it up though, good that you’re learning and sharing, I’m on the same ride 👍🏽

      Thanks for the feedback. I did give examples in the video, both verbally and with a chart. I think the whole concept is pretty clear and straightforward. It comes down to what you mentioned at the end - either you invest your money wisely and gain or the bank will. Anyway, appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!

      @@williamhodges3941 I was referring to this video and your concern about the current times. As for what you personally should do, that's not something I can speak to based on a few sentences in a comment. It depends on your goals and many other factors.

      @@moneywithpriscilla By your logic, I'll keep saving on top of investing.......

    • @firefalcoln
      @firefalcoln 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@williamhodges3941 your discourse comes across as nasty. Net worth isn’t savings. In this context savings isn’t even someone’s stock portfolio plus immediately accessible cash in the bank. That’s how some people define savings, but not others. In this case It’s just the immediately accessible cash from one’s bank and wallet that doesn’t need to be traded and isn’t borrowed against someone. If 99% of a 1.7 million net worth is in home equity for a home that one is still paying for, then one should almost certainly have more savings money that’s more accessible. If a 1.7 million net worth is all in cash under the mattress, that’s more than enough accessible cash. But then one should probably focus more on allocating that money better rather than prioritize adding more to that saving’s pile. If you’re under 50 and have that money well diversified and have a good plan to continue to live below your means and hit your financial goals, then a 1.7 million net worth is probably plenty. Net worth only tells someone so much. If you want good financial feedback, at the very least you want to mention your age, where you live in terms of cost of living, and what you have as financial goals to give someone an idea of if a 1.7 million net worth is “enough”.

      That's dumb. People should not hire an expert for everything they do. You shouldn't hire a tax guy if your taxes are simple. You shouldn't hire an engineer to design a simple little deck. And you shouldn't hire a CPA if your just want to put 15% in an index fund.

    Ideally you want a quarter plan. 1/4 to taxes. 1/4 to 401k. 1/4 to housing.(ideally mostly a mortgage) 1/4 to everything else.

    • @moneywithpriscilla
      @moneywithpriscilla 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting structure!

    • @jacobjohnson4763
      @jacobjohnson4763 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is most certainly not ideal. 25% effective tax rate is way too high. More like 15% plus your state tax rate. And 25% to housing is also too high but that’s very subjective depending on where you live and what you make. But the goal should not be to spend 25% on housing, it should be to spend as little as necessary.

    • @bugermcking4968
      @bugermcking4968 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jacobjohnson4763 A normal middle class person, with normal middle class ambitions, shouldn't shoot for making over $90k. If you make over $90k you should look into cutting down hours, while still hitting $90k (like get down to 30 hours a week on average) But Ideally you make $90k. Then your 401k contribution would be $22.5K, your monthly budget for housing would be 1,800, meaning your mortgage portion on that would be $1k a month on a 30 year mortgage.(which is about a $200k house) I'd want to live in a not very expensive city where that price gets you a decent little ranch house in the suburbs or maybe a slab house if the markets too tight, but I'd want at least 2 bed and 2 bath in a decent neighborhood. Then if you have extra money from your budget like if interest rates go down you put that money on the mortgage to pay it off sooner, but expect to pay 25% for your working life. This house price allows you to take advantage of the primary residence tax.(which lets you sell your primary residence tax free for the first $250k) Meaning when you retire you can sell the house and get tax free money to buy another property or invest.(moving out of the city when your young and retired usually makes sense for tax/investment reasons, you can often get something in a poor job market that's just as nice as you had in the better job market for half the money, then you can invest half of the cash from your house into whatever) Next taxes on $67.5k of taxable income is about 23% when you add employment tax and federal tax and an average state tax.(the rest you will be paying in sales tax) Lastly you have about $1800 per month to do everything else. (which you should be able to do pretty comfortably) With this plan you will be able to retire comfortably in 25 to 30 years.(depending on when you pay off your house)

    • @bugermcking4968
      @bugermcking4968 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jacobjohnson4763 67K in taxable income in a state with at least a 4% or 5% income tax(which is half of them) and a property tax of about 3k to 4k, which is most of them, will put you at 25%. You can get your property tax and income tax down by moving to some states but that usually equals an equally big drop in income, so 25% seems fair. As to the housing thing you need to own if you ever want to retire. Which means a mortgage, which means $1200, for anything good that you want to live in forever, which is also near a good job. Which is 25% of your income after expenses.

      @@jacobjohnson4763 If you're paying well under 25% in taxes, for federal income tax and state income tax and payroll tax and sales tax and property tax, you are not making enough money. And housing cost ideally should be about half equity building cost. Which is smart considering it's a good diversification in case housing prices go up 53% in 4 years or you lose your job and can't afford rent.

    This is a great start for those new to budgeting, but for me spending 75% on needs is way too much. I have some aggressive goals and need to keep the discipline to spend less. I got hit by lifestyle inflation and now have a hard time cutting back significantly. Trying to save closer to 35% of my income to rebuild my emergency fund

    Are the continued direct deposits still a thing for sofi? I haven’t heard anyone mention that. I just thought you had to have 5,000 in the account to get the full APY

    • @moneywithpriscilla
      @moneywithpriscilla 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I just checked their site and continuous direct deposits are still required to earn the highest APY. The alternative that they list is to deposit at least $5k every 30 days. But, there is no minimum direct deposit required, so you can set the amount super low!

    This was a great video. I listened to it in the background while cleaning. There were no visuals so I didn’t have to watch.

    Thank you for this breakdown. I definitely want to try it. I only use Instacart and they jack up the prices by a couple bucks. I wanted to see the selection and the items you showed are worth previewing the trial offer. So, thank you.

    Not understanding why you disabled comments on apple high yield account? Why start a yt channel if you cant debate nor let others have a conflicting opinion

    Appreciate the video and price comparisons. It looks like if you ordered once a month you might be even with their monthly subscription cost but if you order huge orders or 2-3 times a month saves more money. I bet many do the $12/mo to see how they like it and forget to cancel or cancel upgrade to yearly. If you paid yearly and tried it once and realized the time it takes to get stuff, cost of shipping maybe or damaged goods etc you definitely lose with this.

    thank you! I was wondering if Thrive was just over-hyped or even legit. I just got signed up after seeing this video (after reading other online reviews first). You really nailed all the questions I was wondering about as well. Thank you for your video and the way it was presented 👍 excellent job!

    Great video! I have most of these except for the online savings. Any cybersecurity concerns with online savings accounts?

      Thanks for watching! Cybersecurity is definitely something to be conscious of. I personally haven't had any issues with my HYSA provider, but looking into the protocols of the banks you may be interested (multifactor authentication, encryption, etc.) is a smart move!
