    This is one of the most useful learning videos I've come across to help with comprehension. The cycle of repeats with no pinyin to start is perfect. And lots of new words to learn. Random, short, useful sentences. A mixture of levels. Thank you so much. Denis

    Judging by the amount of words an expresions, I consider this as a intermediate level to be honest

    I love this thanks a lot. I used to speak Chinese when I was young but living abroad so long made me forget Chinese. And now relearning the language. I didn’t realise my level is still intermediate. I can understand most of these.

      I think it's hsk 2-4
      I think hsk 1-4 is beginner level
      And hsk 5 and beyond is advanced.
      4-5 years of college level studying.

    • @HaswellCore
      @HaswellCore 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      stuff like 辣椒 is HSK 5. Multiple words like 1st aid 急救 dont even have an hsk level cause you rarely need them. You should focus on 急 cause its hsk 3 and actually useful.

      This is how I felt when I went to live and work in hangzhou. It does get easier. For example, going to starbucks, I'd ask to practice Chinese and they say okay...but it took me one month to hear and understand the phrase, "to have here or take away." I learned basic mandarin before going and so I had a scattering of words but not put together to use. This is great. Keep going with it!

    The Chinese dictation is perfect. I just wish the English speaker spoke normally (without the “acting”) and at natural speed. It is for chinese listening practice, not ESL, after all. Actually, it’d be 100% better without the English voice altogether.

    I find this content really helpful! Thanks a lot! I am also curious, I have seen quite a few videos with the title "Efficient/Effective Chinese listening practice," do you know if the efficacy of this method of repeating the sentences in this way is backed by a body of research? I'm very interested in the research on language learning and I'm just curious if there have been studies that substantiate this is the most effective way to train your listening skills, or at least more effective than various other methods. If so, I would love to read this research. (Either way, I find it is helpful myself). Thanks again!

    the repeated native reading of the phrase, before and after the translation, was very helpful; but it wd have been even better if there had been a word or two of vocab included in the corner space, as it was not always clear which word corresponded to which.

    The Chinese speaking/reading portion is great, the English reading voice is little hard to listen to. Is it even needed to have the English phrases read out loud. Presumably, we all read English at this stage of our intellectual development and only subtitles in English would have been enough. Or if the English translation had to be read out loud, may be the English-speaking voice could have tuned it down a little bit. After all, we are here to put an emphasis on Chinese language listening skills not English language listening ones. I, personally, felt my brain being pierced by the English-speaking voice which sounded like talking to hard of hearing people.

    This would be amazing if....
    It was divided into smaller pieces to make "rewinding" way easier to manually repeat phrases. That seems like an easy fix. Next time have 2 native speakers read each sentence. So it still gets read twice but once by a female and then followed by a male. I have experienced that method before and it helps a lot. Also, leave the English out.

      It's been one month, how has your learning improved?

    • @nicoleraheem1195
      @nicoleraheem1195 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can change the playback speed to 0.5 or 0.75
      But do not start with this video If you are an absolute Beginner.
      This is more of Hsk2-3 content.
      Which is 600 characters More than an absolute Beginner.
      I'd suggest you start with
      1.) ChineseForUs- HSK1 lessons for vocab and after a month of studying Hsk1 vocab, listen to their Chinese stories to test yourself.
      And
      2.) Lichao chinese Hsk1 because he teaches out of the standard book.
      Also, hsk 1 flashcard apps helped me alot.
      I learned Hsk1 vocab in 2 months but it took a Little longer for me to get accustomed to listening because I was watching Chinese dramas back to back. I didn't focus on listening to hsk 1 too much which caused a delay. So, with that being said, use this two channels and watch them at least 20-30xs until it stick.
      I learned 10 korean phrases and 15-20 korean verbs in a matter of two weeks, because I played the phrases at least 30xs, for hours, while I was at work and on the train, on the way home.
      Little progress is better than none at all.
      Chinese for us and Lichao Chinese is great to get you accustomed.
      Then, you can get the first 100 chinese Character book from Barnes and noble for about $10-15
      Or
      You can download the book for free at www.pdfdrive.com and use a separate notebook to practice stroke order.
      Take your time
      Don't move on to the next level until you've mastered the first .
      Don't stress about grammar just remember how someone is saying it and remember the order of which it's taught.
      Just as babies do.
      You are a baby when it come to learning Languages you don't know, so think like one lol 😂 but smarter and more experienced.
      If I could go from knowing how to say thank you in Chinese from a Jackie Chan movie in 1996 lol 😂 to passing Hsk1, being able to say basic phrases and stuff in a matter of months, you can too.
      One word or one Character at a time, right?
      💜Stay strong and don't beat yourself up for not knowing something that you haven't been exposed to or haven't been taught to know.🙃
      Take your time. You have time.✊🏾❣️

    • @nicoleraheem1195
      @nicoleraheem1195 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a matter of fact, with any learning video that you use, on TH-cam, you can play it at 0.5 to 0.75 speed to make it easier for you😁
      I play chinese dramas at 0.75 more now, than when I first started my Journey in January 2020.
