I applaud you taking up the gauntlet in favor of windsynths. It does amaze me that more music educators don't bring windsynths to their students. Keep speaking up. Students would so benefit from their use.

wonderful video I have a areophone 30. I recently got a play a long app. Tomplay it allows me to use all the sounds or as Roland calls them scenes.
i plan to use both for all my classes. thank you for a great video.

Just one word: EXCELLENT! Playing myself - but far from your level of professional musician - with the AE-30 Pro (and also owning an AE-10 and an AE-20), I was looking for a long time for a video able to demonstrate to a not very informed, and even sometimes hostile, public the immense acoustic and technical possibilities of the current electronic wind instruments. It is a bit by chance that I discovered yours yesterday on TH-cam: it is a real treasure of inventiveness and representativeness, and of course of musicality. Be assured that I will put this video forward to convince the most reluctant of those to whom I wish to make discover these "electronic" (some of them hate this word!) instruments. And of course, I subscribe immediately to your channel. Thank you a thousand times! Pierre, from Paris (France).

I’m pleased to of came across this post, it is what I’ve been looking for. I have looked at a number of different options and your presentation has helped me to understand the difference between the serious and the toys.
I have subscribed to your channel. Cheers from New Zealand 🇳🇿.

It was a super promotion for e-wind synths musical instruments.
    Thank you so much.👍

This is the coolest instrument I've ever seen, synths have been invading my life lately and it got me wondering if something like this existed with features I was hoping were included and wow they were and it is, if not more than what I was expecting looking into this instrument. TH-cam had recommended your channel to me after some digging and wow you're explanation and musicianship is off the hook, got me 100% convinced I should pull some strings to get one of these 🤘 cheers

Great presentation and I totally agree with you My AE30 has been a game changer for my Alto saxophone learning as i can play anytime of the day or night to practice and fingering is basically the same

    I paused the video,
took up my Ewi Solo and stopped playing in desperation. I've still to learn sooooo much. After this comment I'll start practising again. Thank you for a very inspiring video.

I think the banjo and glockenspiel sounded relatively convincing. For wind instruments, I think it doesn't encapsulate the sense of drama that a person generating the sound themselves creates, and sounds a little like a pipe organ more than wind instrument. Nevertheless very interesting to see such virtuosic performances on the wind synth. I can see the usefulness for high school band leaders. However there is something else about actually being the larger part of the sound generation of brass in particular that seems primordial and magical. (edit: i see the pipe organ gets covered towards the end)

The primordial aspect of sound production is very much of value; couldn't agree more. Even so, the advancements on these wind-synths has been most impressive and I for one am more than happy to see a music educator step up so as to bring more players on board. So many of our youth are locked up in housing situations that preclude practicing at any time of the day or night, and even when possible the noise can really cause severe interpersonal distress. It's my hope that with the new tech far more of our youth including drummers and keyboardists and so on can step up with high end skills quickly. The low cost and flexibility coming on board coupled with the ability to practice night and day without bothering neighbors etc, it's a real plus. A core set of skills can be developed with those wishing to switch to the real instruments able to do so later on down the line, so even then the primordial grunt of the real deal can come back into play. Very much enjoy seeing the rise of this movement, the comments sections associated with postings like these reflective a truly mindful engagement. Really, I'm much enthused about this movement. Best to you.

Great video - and kudos for promoting wind synths. I’m a sax player that got into wind synths years ago. (I currently focus on AE-30 and NuRAD.). I love the additional dimensions they have opened for me. And my son, also a sax player, got into it a few years ago. His band teacher was forward thinking enough to allow him to play his EWI5000 for his senior solo. The band and audience loved it.

Nice presentation! I’ve always thought that the EWI 4000s is the best-sounding all-around wind synth ever; it’s a shame that Akai stopped making them. Matt Traum’s soundbanks really allowed for the full potential of various wind synths. However, I have to disagree with the EWI being used to try to sound like existing acoustic instruments. Yes, it’s a pain to afford expensive acoustic instruments such as that contrabass clarinet, but I believe wind synths simply sound best with synth tones. That’s what they’re meant for.

I agree. If Roland had left the SuperNatural sound engine out of the AE-30 I wouldn't have cared in the least. Even with ZEN Core I don't use the "realistic" tones. Synth sounds all the way for me.

I find with equal breath preassure the low notes have more volume than the high....blowing harder as on a sax should be equally louder. It needs breath tweaking or an added thickness in the HIGH range. If I could havo a volume spike in the high range AND more breath resistence in the highs it may feel more like a sax...Any ideas?

I am speaking about the AE-30

    • @unclemick-synths
      @unclemick-synths ปีที่แล้ว

You'd have to customize scenes I think to achieve that. Personally the difference doesn't bother me vs my alto saxes but that might be because I only ever use synth type sounds. I also use very different blowing techniques to play those sounds than the sax.

I use a Lekato stereo radio link with my AE-30. Bought off Amazon.

I find the dynamic volume on the ae-10 better than the ae-30.
    Do you find this true?

Not in my experience. Maybe you should look into the settings of the AE 30 ?
