Nick, I could watch this for hours, awesome. Everyday, every hour appears an adventure. Courage and conviction, your calm and confident strokes show you are at one. Let us know when you might take out some fellow paddlers for some real experience.Cheers Will D.
Well done Nick, so inspiring to watch. Bit scary how far west that tide took you but very glad you completed the trip safely. Loving the look of the new boat and also I like to see your set up on the deck and your camera positions. Keep going, your passion is infectious. Best, Reuben
I can't believe you did it!! So you should be pleased with yourself. That's amazing. I found at times I was forgetting to breathe, nervous for you in that lumpy sea....
Well done. Just found your channel, subbing. Love the British kayaks. I’m 63 I paddle a Volan 160, love it. I haven’t paddled the open water yet but soon. How old are you ? Again, nicely done !
Dear kayaker friend: I hope, before the trip, you did a practice capsize with all the gear collected around the spray skirt's release loop. I noticed, upon landing, it took about 15 seconds to release the skirt. True, not hurrying as one would upside down. Yet there was a lot to be moved aside, which is likely more complicated when upside down. Aside from my obsessing over where the release loop was, I loved your meditative, solo journey.
Thank you for your concern. All is well with my system. I was on a year long kayaking journey and I have many years of kayaking experience. Best wishes.
beautiful boat! Wonder if you also have occasional lower back pain after paddling for hours? If so, any tips on how to mitigate/prevent? Thanks a bunch.
My shoulders are fine. I like the big blades for their power and the paddles themselves are so light, I don’t notice the effort. It was a good experience to remind myself of what I can do. All the best.
Thanks Jimmy, it was a slog for the last few hours but I was really impressed with the kayak. I’m not sure I’ll be making that crossing again anytime soon.
Good work. Took a while getting that spray deck off tho, lol. Bet you was knackered.

Legend.
Glad you made it but I'm glad not many people try that. There must be some hefty currents and waves.
Amazing passage. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you too and best wishes.

Bravo 👏
I've been wondering what you up to, Nick! Now I know, brilliant challenge, even by your high standards.
Thank you so much, you’re very kind.
What are you using for toilet functions on the water?
Why so long on the leash?
New boat looks stellar? Good luck.

How are the shoulders after a long paddle with the big blades? Useful couple of days training. All the best.

What was average speed? What to hull is it?
Difficult conditions on the way back. You made it eventually.

@@NickRayLifeAfloat I would only do it on a RIB with a couple of big outboard engines.

Not quite viral yet but it’s nice knowing folks are interested. 😊
No GPS?
He did mention "GPS" and then looked at his wrist. Must have been a small unit.
Tired after 20 K you shouldn't be out there alone 😱
Paddle leash way to long.
Not really. I think it’s how you intend it to be useful. For my expedition paddling, this is the ideal length for me. It’s a personal choice.
