That’s just scratching the surface of what was removed. A Sonic Team employee said that SEGA forced them to remove at least an entire game or two’s worth of content to avoid connections with Sonic 06, keep the same tone as the previous games and release it on time.
@@TheJ13579According to many interviews and a Video by MattMcMuscles, it was basically gutted in terms of plot, characters, and concepts before most of the actual work had been completed. It's very evident from even just looking at the environmental details and some set-pieces that so much more was planned but never followed up on. The fact that Sunset Heights doesn't have an actual location name, just "The City", shows that everything did not turn out right in production and development.
Sonic Adventure: Tails fought CHAOS 4, Flew the Tornado plane on a dangerous mission against the Egg Carrier, lost the plane and came back with a better version to face the Carrier again, Carried Amy back to Station Square as the Carrier was falling down, stopped Eggman from activating a missile, took out the Egg Walker and SAVED Station Square on his own. Sonic Adventure 2: Tails used his strong tornado mech walker throughout the entire story, shot down GUN robots, escaped GUN forces in the middle of the city, infiltrated Eggman's pyramid base and went toe to toe with Eggman's mech walker twice and put up a good fight. Also, catching up with the President's limo, traced the video call and located Eggman in the Space Colony ARK, created a fake Chaos Emerald that "has the same wavelengths and properties" to deceive Eggman. The same fake Chaos Emerald also SAVED SONIC'S LIFE when he attempted to do Chaos Control and was able to maintain himself from the stress and shock of Sonic's death- of which Tails believed happened after the space pod blew up- during a serious situation with Eggman and fought him without giving up for Sonic. Sonic 06: Hunts for the chaos emerald in the hopes to save Sonic's life where all of time and space is damaged to the point where time portals can pop up at any time and instant kill you. Sonic Colors: Translates the Wisps for Sonic. Sonic Lost World: When he's kidnapped, he managed to disable a cyborg/mind control device to fake out the Deadly 6 when Sonic thinks he's been turned to a mind controlled cyborg. Shadow: Hunts for the Chaos emerald by himself during an alien invasion and helps out Shadow during a G.U.N airship takeover from the aliens by himself.
One good thing came out of this game It was used as the starting point for the excellent IDW Comics Mind you the comics go out of their way to not directly refernce Forces and Infinite has literally never been seen or mentioned in them

That 'you play as batman' joke actually got me. A shame you aren't allowed to make a bat species. Your speech stringing up so many sonic titles is glorious.
I'm usually not a fan of the reviewer cutting in, But your comedy js always great Jadow. I loved your parody speech of all the sonic games and talking about sonics age
(Warning this is kinda long) It's sad when a game like this makes me have to say that 06 had a much more engaging story. Despite all of its inconsistencies, bad writing and wasted opportunities, you could tell there was at least some heart put into it. There was an attempt. The only thing I'd say is salvageable about Forces' story is Infinite. My guess is that Infinite's loss to Shadow affected him so hard because Shadow killed his squad, and he couldn't even hope to avenge them. He truly felt worthless, as a leader and as a person. That's why he gloats to Shadow so much, that's why he keeps doing stupid things like sparing his enemies, even as the Avatar starts to become a potential threat. Infinite is wayyy too hung up on making people remember him, making people live with fear of him. He's kinda trying to emulate the effect Shadow had on him. The character was still wasted by poor writing overall, in my opinion.
It also doesn't help that a lot of moments in the story makes it seem like he is a machine created by eggman, and that he just goes away after the final battle with no conclusion whatsoever. He really feels like a unintentional parody of the character he is trying to be.
I hear the question: why would Rouge be at Krystal's usual stead at the beginning of this video? simple: The Bleeding-Eyed Deity put her there! or did y'all think he'd take the humiliating send-off from episode 200 so graciously? he said it best to Jadow= "there is NO existence where you can be safe from ME!"
In my eyes and I understand that no one counts any of the animated Sonic shows, (though the creators of Sonic Prime went to great lengths to make the series cannon to the games,) in the anime series Sonic X, more specifically season 3, Tails lead his friends into battle against an army of alien robots known as the Meterex. Tails built a spaceship and he was its captain.
There is one hole in eggman's space exile plan. Sonic characters don't need oxygen to breathe apparently because they've been shown multiple times to be fine in space with no protection 💀
thats actuaply engenious, usually sonic dies in space only because theres a bottomless pit... or in mad space case you burn up in the atmosphere. So its totally possible all those guys are just swimming trhough space towards somethimg to avoid burning in the atmosphere
maybe the custom character is the humble hero type, just fine with helping save the day, then again, its meant to be audiance surogate, and i get the feeling most of us want to essentially want the glory of it
and the custom protaglead to the creation of Whisper the wolf since she was initially made in the character customizer then handed off to the idw artists to make her what she is now
Ol so the explaination for why silver is still arround is in sonic colors ds, to make a long story short silver WILL always exist in the future... he just will, but to make sure that the future doesmt go the way of solaris or the way of ifrit from rivals 2 he time travels to the current present to give assistence (except in colors DS where he just wanted a vacation and just so happened to sneak into eggman's interstellar amusememt park)
I bought this game when it was on sale on the PS Store out of curiosity. I beat it in a couple of days, deleted it to save space in my PS4's memory and aside from one or two levels, pretty much completely forgot about anyting in it. That should say something.
If they really wanted to make a darker, edgier Sonic game, in which a ragtag resistance fights to liberate the planet from Eggman, they should have just made a SatAM game! Yeah, yeah, I know that Sega isn't gonna do that anytime soon (thanks, Ken Penders, but a guy can dream, can't he?
Yess! A Satam game would've been gold! Have it be a game where you are the underdeveloped underdog, against a powerful force that punishes you for the easiest of mistakes, where stealth is a priority becuase death isn't savable from the rings this time. A much slower pace yet still enjoyable game. Maybe something where you form a hard resistance against Robotnik that actively engages him in warfare. Just something along those lines. Would be pretty cool!
I liked Sonic Forces, but the game could have been more fully realized. Not for the story because no one plays Sonic games for the story, but for the gameplay, level design, your avatar, and more. The levels could have been made less linear and a bit more open, with different paths to take based on the weapon abilities you have. There could have been more customization options for your avatar. Shadow could have been more combat focused instead of being a Sonic reskin. He could have had his abilities from Shadow The Hedgehog such as guns, chaos control and blast, melee, and vehicles. The physics could have been better than what was there. Sonic Forces had potential, but was sadly not properly done.
One extremely minor nitpick: Mania isn't a fangame, it's an officially licensed Sega game made by an employee who happened to have made fangames in the past If SEGA slapped Denuvo on it for no reason, then it means that they consider this a fact as well
I once made this statement with a bunch of my Discord friends and I still stand by it Crash Bandicoot has had more successful games than Sonic has in his 3D era
About sonic 06 considering to be a good now that because most people have experience a fan project called p-06 which is complete remake sonic 06 which fix the game and add some details and improvements the project is developed by chaosx and now we have sonic and shadows levels silver levels aren't released yet
My theory is that sonic team made full stages but chopped them up into smaller stages to pad the level list out ngl. Like some of the stages could be easily reworked to fit together so much better and longer. I beat this game and i felt like if they made solid longer stages with lets say act 1 being modern sonic act 2 being classic and act 3 being avatar alone. Like you all working towards one goal in stages with each character doing something in his act that effects the other
@@Darklordjadow1 yea i feel its also why theirs "challanges" that feel like cheaply made 2d stages made of those dark grey blocks. Tbh i hated those stages as it just felt so lazy and slapped together
Sonic forces characters described with quotes Sonic: "that was easy" Tails: "jesus, why aint you doing something right now, when i know that you can" Knuckles: "leader in name only" Amy: "shes the girl character" Silver: "i dont know what im doing" Chaotics: "there here incase their needed" Avatar: "dull suprise!" Classic sonic: "..."
Hey, Jadow. Ya wanna know the reason why the writing in Forces is utter sh*t? It's because it was written by two people who don't know jacksh*t about Sonic in general. Two men who go by the names Pontac and Graff. They've written for the games from Sonic Colors all the way to Team Sonic Racing without any knowledge with Sonic since 2010. Surprisingly, the Japanese version of Forces doesn't mention the whole "Sonic is tortured" bullcrap or even the "Tails has lost it" part, but it doesn't save this game from stuff like Tails cowering from an enemy like Chaos 0 whom Tails fought powerful versions in Sonic Adventure. It's no wonder why Pontac and Graff left the series and Sega decided to hire Ian Flynn as the current writer of the Sonic franchise. I might add that Ian Flynn actually gave a sh*t about Sonic given his work on both the Archie comics and IDW comics. Lesson (hopefully) learned: don't hire people who don't know anything about the intellectual property you want them to work on. Example: Don't work on a Batman media if you don't know anything about Batman.
Tbf, there have been plenty of writers in other forms of media who come in who don't know anything about the series they're working on, and they are then revised by people who are in the loop. The problem is that Pontac and Graff were either not given any notes or biographies as to who characters were, Sega didn't provide it to them, or were just to incompetent to do so. That and their jokes fell flat most of the time. Also, its been confirmed that all Flynn did was write the dialogue for Frontiers. The basic plot was already decided long before he came in
I feel this hatred that is flung at Pontac and Graff gets ridiculous. To me, if you're a company like SEGA, it is your job when you bring on writers to help educate them about what they are writing for which SEGA... didn't do. It doesn't matter if they don't know the series going into it, that's not actually that important when there's enough resources to fill in those blanks. But they weren't informed and of course people chose to harass them when they are just the poor saps responsible for writing these things and also have no obligation to be as dedicated to this series as the fans complaining to them are.
Most of the duo's hands with Sonic from Colors to Forces/TSR was the English translation of those scripts. The only expectation was Sonic Lost World, that's the game where its script was actually written by Pontac and Graff themselves.
This game will forever be maybe not the worst Sonic game but the most disappointing. The idea of Sonic and his friends being thrown into a war on an Eggman dominated planet. It sounds so awesome. And all we got with that wait was a watered down Generations with levels so extremely short they probably last around 2 minutes each.
Awesome video here that boost move in this game was tooken from Sonic generations where to boost move in Sonic generations instant killed everything like in this game too and most of Sonic gameplay has been tooken from Sonic generations in Sonic forces
Yeah but the boost in that game and Unleashed and Colors had more of a risk-reward to it. You could go fast but you'd miss out on a lot of optional paths and setpieces. And in Frontiers, you just go faster, doesn't hurt any enemies. In this game there's pretty much no reason not to use the Boost
Sonic Forces fell harder than if it were any other game because it was hyped up as part of the second reconnaissance of the series as well as a follow up to it's best received game since the Dreamcast era which let's be real here, we all knew wasn't going to live up to.
Chaos is made out of water, right? And this chaos doesnt have any emeralds according to the wiki Tails needed assistance to take down THE WATER, not even a powerful Version, just the BASE version
Speaking as a former Sonic fan, I feel Sonic fans are in a constant state of Stockholm Syndrome with this series. They are so desperate to want to justify why they're still a fan when the company has treated this franchise like crap that they will cling onto anything that's good. Sonic Origins? Sure these rereleases of the classics have a couple issues that shouldn't have ever been a thing but hey at least they play alright and we got that Taxman and Stealth version of Sonic 3 we've been clamoring for. Sonic Frontiers? It has its issues with stability and glitches and the open-world can be kind of a chore since it's so barren but it also gives us a banging soundtrack and aims to acknowledge continuity... which is suddenly a problem for us but hey, it still did it. Sonic movies? The design in that original trailer sucked and the human characters are kind of dull but hey, that new design works and there's all those references. All this to say... Christ Sonic Forces was blegh. I personally have never cared about Sonic games needing to have a serious story so I wasn't bothered at first by the story being bad until it struck me how extremely inconsistent the tone was and how it's Sonic Team's same problem of wanting to create these deep emotionally gripping narratives that fall flat because the writing team just doesn't have the chops to do it (I will go to my grave stating that the only good serious stories in the games were Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Unleashed.), the boost gameplay despite making its grand return was some of the stiffest I've ever experienced and felt like it was a first draft of the style... in what was the fourth 3D game to use it and then there's just everything else. Classic Sonic felt forced in and with gameplay that sucked heavily especially when compared to Sonic Mania which came out earlier and basically gave us some of the best Classic Sonic gameplay we've seen in years, Infinite was a blegh villain and some of the key parts of this story, content that really is crucial to certain characters like Infinite's backstory, were relegated to tie-in comics that granted were available for free online but still had to be sought out. Honestly, Forces in part was where I started heading out of being a Sonic fan because at this point, it seemed like Sonic was just doomed to suck and be caught in this never-ending cycle of getting a good game before SEGA immediately fucked it up.
Here it is. My personally most hated Sonic game. Forces. I don't _hate_ Frontiers thanks to actually kinda enjoying parts of the story, but the gameplay constantly shifts between "wow this is cool!" and "SONIC, JUST LAND THAT JUMP ALREADY FOR FUCK'S SAKE"
good lord dude, its a plushie, its not alive i think its safe to assume that sonic 06 tanked so hard that we can say it never happened, but silver is here anyway 20:17 lmao wtf. dude, the energy mimics is SUPER OBVIOUS at the start.
@@Mobysimo To be honest... that's not a problem with the boost. That's a problem with the level design. Sonic Unleashed had the same problem to an extent, a lot of boost levels had stretches where you just held down the boost button and you'd break through objects and enemies without much in the way of obstacles that could actually hurt you... at least until they started placing dick move obstacles and pits that forced you to have to slow down and see what's coming. Later games though fixed this by having level design that had a balance between moments where the boost is used for spectacle and clever platforming and alternate pathways.
I'm really sorry, DLJadow, I can't watch your Sonic reviews. Let me put it this way: Sally Acorn is my favorite Sonic character. And the flame wars that I had with the Saturday Morning cartoon princess is the things of nightmares. Forgive me.
Me: The Phantom Ruby? That sounds like someone's fanfic answer to the Choas Emeralds. Jadow: The Phantom Ruby is from the fan-made game Sonic Mania Me: I knew it! ... ... WHY?!?
As for Classic Sonic, his appearance ties into Sonic Mania. Basically, the Phantom Ruby warped him there. Somehow. I don't get why. He probably shouldn't be in the game though.
Okay I do get what you mean about Eggman doing all this evil shit but you forgot that this is the same guy that blew up half the moon and split the planet into 7 pieces I think he would throw people out into space to die
Yeah, but for however much you want to Neil Degrasse Tyson real-world those things, there's just enough cartoon physics wiggle room to believe he didn't kill people in those. Hucking someone out into space... there's no deniability there.
Would you ever consider playing and reviewing the lesser known Transformers games? Armada, Revenge of the fallen ps2/wii, Cybertron adventures, transformers prime, the ds ones...
I have no idea why the robot birds are treated as Winged Beasts, but they come from the post-apocalyptic Xyz dimension after it's been conquered... I think. Card lore is hard to find.

30:31 after shadow killed infinite's squad infinite (who before he fuse with the phantom ruby was called zero) after was defeated by shadow he went into a state of fear after shadow called him weak he thinks and infinite created the mask to hide his oldself due to it being weak
17:19 the this was suppose have a tone that adventure games had and the reason that tone feels like its of to the side is becuase of the pacing and due to the audience this game was geared towards witch was kids
26:02 the phantom ruby that infinite had was not the actual phantom ruby thqt one was the finalized version that eggman made base of the real phantom ruby and the one that is capable of harnessing its fullest potential that being infinite potential eggman even said that one of the prototypes was a defective model that could only record the dna of the one that triggered it
Also the level design was done by 3 people 1 worked on lost world and the 2 others have never worked on any sonic which makes things when you see that in the announcement trailers they it was developed by the team who brought colors and generations and you know what really hate about that announcement not mentioning sonic unleashed that game was the 1st 3d boost game
Ive been getting back into Sonic starting with Sonic 4 which I actually like (I also liked secret rings though), gonna get to gens after mega man legends 2, spurred on by pariahs awesome videos, check him out
16:49 i know what I’m about to say may be a mortal sin to the metroid fans but i think samus’ reaction to Ridley returning in other M was genius. And to those saying “but she defeated him 5 times” or any number of times i say “EXACTLY she destroyed him 5 times in ways no living thing should survive and he is still not gone! This is telling samus that the one who caused all your greatest pains, misery, and trama is unkillable, THERE IS NO CLOSURE! She was brought back to the way she was as a little girl because in that moment as she watched this thing that was suppose to be dead was back in her face remembering everything. She acted helpless because at that moment SHE FELT HELPLESS.”
Something you forgot to leave out or was simply unaware is that whatever animal you picked you are stuck with. So if you picked a character with a bad bonus you are screwed and can only get to use the others until you beat the game
@@sho829 I haven't followed any of the Sonic comics; I just looked it up and it said there were tie-ins in the "Sonic SatAm comics" which is what everyone calls the animated series that Sonic used to have
@@Darklordjadow1 ah then allow me to elaborate. Archie is the company that did the American comics for Sonic. There was another comic run in the UK that people talk about mostly for how insane it was. Those were Fleetway and weren't as good as Archie. SatAM did play a heavy part of the comics though as a starting basis and would continue to do so. The Archie canon is extremely separate from game canon as events from the games were hard to incorporate. The comic ended a few years ago thanks to Ken Penders (just saying you could get a lot of mileage out of him for a video topic) and now we have IDW comics doing Sonic. It seems the IDW run is canon to the games since Frontiers straight name drops Tangle The Lemur and because her and Whisper The Wolf are playable in two of the app games Dash and Forces Speed Battle. Though admittedly the prequel comics seem kinda separate I think from the IDW canon. Haven't read them or heard much about the prequel comics. Also there are a lot of Sonic waifus in Archie.
Wow, that game was a trainwreck. Now that we're done with that, I have a review recommendation. Now that you own an Xbox 360, I think now is a good oppurtunity to review a game called "NeverDead" a third-person action game developed by Rebellion, creators of Sniper Elite and some Aliens vs. Predator games. The game actually had an interesting concept, the main character was immortal and could actually tear his limbs off for strategic use in combat and to solve puzzles; but the idea was executed POORLY. It sounds like the kind of garbage perfect for this show.
About sonic unleashed you need to play that game on Xbox series x since when came out on Xbox 360 and ps3 it tanked the framerates also the game isn't bad it's just reviewed unfairly
Honestly Sonic Forces was decent at best too me though it could've used way better execution and the fact people are saying it worse than 06 like really it nowhere as bad as that game and Infinite defintly desreves another chance in the games since people just hate him for his poor performence in this game also Mephiles appearing in the game where did you hear that from?
I like many was bummed when the story failed to live up to expectations. Like an actually deep story for once. Tails losing his innocence, becoming a hardened fighter, Sonic mutilated and experimented on to where he no longer see's joy in fighting eggman, now hell bent on killing him once and for all. It would've been great to see! Instead we never even came close to getting what we expected.
I have a request for the dark side of steam Its a spooky game called garten of banban, it has barely existed but the entire world is already being blasted by that shit Its free and you should devote a section to the comments, and dont worry, the game is extremely short, so it could be used as a filler episode Also look at their socials
I think its still an acceptable game for review because its free, but even if it wasnt, the game is extremely short and isnt even an hour long so refunds are definitely possible unless you just fall asleep while playing it

If only the story actually went that far with his character……
That intro dude 🤣🤣🤣
0:00 to 0:20 - I can explain that.
Jadow's lost his mind and is going to become a Jim Sterling.
maybe the custom character is the humble hero type, just fine with helping save the day, then again, its meant to be audiance surogate, and i get the feeling most of us want to essentially want the glory of it
and the custom protaglead to the creation of Whisper the wolf since she was initially made in the character customizer then handed off to the idw artists to make her what she is now
Ol so the explaination for why silver is still arround is in sonic colors ds, to make a long story short silver WILL always exist in the future... he just will, but to make sure that the future doesmt go the way of solaris or the way of ifrit from rivals 2 he time travels to the current present to give assistence (except in colors DS where he just wanted a vacation and just so happened to sneak into eggman's interstellar amusememt park)
16:19 There's also a mod that makes Sonic yell "Bounce Pad" like he does in Sonic Boom every time he touches a spring
They should all be combined into a massive hall of fame of shit Sonic decisions.
@@Darklordjadow1 There's also the mod that applies Forces physics into the 2D games so Sonic can't roll over a basic hill.
The only positive thing to come out of this game is Sonic Mania which acted as a tie-in to this game and was honestly the MUCH better game of the two.
My theory is that this game takes place on the planet Mobius, hence the other anthro animals.
One extremely minor nitpick: Mania isn't a fangame, it's an officially licensed Sega game made by an employee who happened to have made fangames in the past
If SEGA slapped Denuvo on it for no reason, then it means that they consider this a fact as well
I once made this statement with a bunch of my Discord friends and I still stand by it
Crash Bandicoot has had more successful games than Sonic has in his 3D era
Which says something!!
Like you all working towards one goal in stages with each character doing something in his act that effects the other
That'd make a lot of sense. I think Sega has a ban on making stuff that's structured like Generations to keep it as some lone unique thing though.
@@Darklordjadow1 yea i feel its also why theirs "challanges" that feel like cheaply made 2d stages made of those dark grey blocks. Tbh i hated those stages as it just felt so lazy and slapped together
Iirc that's exactly what happened to colors, there's a mod to restore colors to that state
Autopilot.
You don’t wanna go autopilot.
Man Miles must be very upset with what Sega did with Rouge in the Sonic generations remake that added new Shadow themed levels
Sonic forces characters described with quotes
Sonic: "that was easy"

Honestly, the only cosmetic worth anything to me is literally just the outfit of Joker from Persona 5.
I love Persona 5. I’m also new to the series.
i am surprised Sonic Frontiers wasn't done after this game. feels like a smooth follow up
(Throws a rock at the Mario series) PISS! It landed on Mario's Time Machine.
Pontac and Graff actually didn’t write the story for this game, they just did the English translation.
@@junglezone7323 and 3D sonic actually had you ration the boost
Sonic Forces fell harder than if it were any other game because it was hyped up as part of the second reconnaissance of the series as well as a follow up to it's best received game since the Dreamcast era which let's be real here, we all knew wasn't going to live up to.
Oh boy! Linearity forces!
Chaos is made out of water, right?
And this chaos doesnt have any emeralds according to the wiki

Ah yes the infamous sonic forces, honestly I don't know how to feel about the game
From what I heard Sega pretty much erase everything about humans and silver story because how bad sonic 06
Honestly, Forces in part was where I started heading out of being a Sonic fan because at this point, it seemed like Sonic was just doomed to suck and be caught in this never-ending cycle of getting a good game before SEGA immediately fucked it up.
why not Jurassic Park Lost World PS1?
Here it is. My personally most hated Sonic game. Forces.
I don't _hate_ Frontiers thanks to actually kinda enjoying parts of the story, but the gameplay constantly shifts between "wow this is cool!" and "SONIC, JUST LAND THAT JUMP ALREADY FOR FUCK'S SAKE"
good lord dude, its a plushie, its not alive
i think its safe to assume that sonic 06 tanked so hard that we can say it never happened, but silver is here anyway
20:17 lmao wtf. dude, the energy mimics is SUPER OBVIOUS at the start.
The boost isn’t new in this game it was introduced in sonic unleashed on the 360/ps3 and then it was in colours and generations
But it wasn’t this broken and hold button to win in those games
Jadow: The Phantom Ruby is from the fan-made game Sonic Mania
Me: I knew it! ... ...
Sonic and the secret rings. Yes.
Yeah, this is why I just stick with the Yakuza games when it comes to Sega nowadays
Yeaah that's the one series that's been good, even if it does get a bit rollarcoastery.

@@Darklordjadow1 true also what did you mean by "Saturday Morning Comics"? Archie's Sonic is ded

The game actually had an interesting concept, the main character was immortal and could actually tear his limbs off for strategic use in combat and to solve puzzles; but the idea was executed POORLY.
It sounds like the kind of garbage perfect for this show.
