This was a great review on how to play. Bought this game recently and the production is awesome. Very fun game that's replayable. Best with 3-4 players. 2 player is ok too, but not as replayable. Worth it!
good game, we are adjusting the rules to make it more realistic . The idea is awesome but a few things needed to be tricked out. We have changed how to turn resources in. We have set our rules that you must be at a port to trade or turn in resources. We also have set that any ship being built or put back into game, must me done at your own port and all resources used to rebuild as to build a ship. We have add'd storm rules as well to go along with set rules - attacker takes a - 1d in attacking in storm , if a battle was to occur . I am a huge player of Supremacy . We also took out the plunder cards to win. That was too easy. We are in tell the end lol any other idea's to add to rules let chat ! We have actually puchased two games and extended the board lol
@@justanarsonist We still use the plunder cards, just not to win through plunder cards UNLESS it is the shirt version. We play all the way through . I tested this in Nov. and OMG did we have a weekend. Mind you it extends the game play to - Winner takes all or surrender . Man, was is filled with strategy and combat. We also added a law into our play that - If a vessel is at still for more then three turns . The Capt. must log the location, then remove the ship. This gives off the non motion activity on the board and offers surprise attack from any other vessel in or coming through location. NOW- if the vessel comes through and catches the vessel anchored it looses it's surprise. There for the 4 sided die comes into play. Pury : 1,3 - the vessel is seen - 2-4 the vessel anchored gains the surprise . it went really well in two player. Now imagine 3- 4 players. All out navel combat and seize
Hey guys we add'd a new rule " Law ". We have started to use parley . ( lol ) we know we know. In the turn , you come to another ship or trade island . "we" have now set it that you have to say " Parley " to show you are in trade. When you say Parley, the other player can not turn around and attack after the turn is over and theirs begin. both players are given a single round to separate from the transaction. HOWEVER, if they do not call Parley, the other player in their turn can turn around and attack the first action player.
There is a video game called Age of Booty that is a arcade game that plays almost exactly like this board game that came out like 15 years ago, its crazy how many things are similar to it all the way down to the exact same resources used for upgrades. I hope this idea wasn't completely stolen from the company that made the game and made major profit off it, hopefully it was made by the same people that made the game at least.
Dude I loved that game and it's pretty much impossible to play nowadays (multiplayer at least)... this is going to scratch a major (gaming) itch for me lol
@@cjswartz7 I loved it too! I got the board game and it’s very fun as well! I would suggest modifying the rules a bit when playing with 3 or more people but it’s worth a buy for sure.
Do masts have an additive or multiplicative impact on movement. For example if you roll a 3 and use all movement on a ship with mast - do you move 4 or 6 with that ship? Seems ambitious in the rulebook
I just got this game today and know nothing of it but one question is why not just sit int he storm and save the resource cards until someone else rolls it away?
I had love at first sight with this game, unfortunately the gameplay isn’t as good as the artwork and just feels like a luck based boring game in my opinion.

Make the game yours- they gave us all amazing ground work . We can add and change to set however. It's truly excellent !

Just played with a few friends. Easy for everyone to understand the rules and strategy. Can’t beat a game that lets you talk like a pirate ARG!!!

Just add, not multiply
The ship that has a mast gets an extra movement for each mast it has. 1 space per mast.

if you’re feeling lucky. sometimes no one will roll a 1 for awhile and you’ll just be stuck there
