Great video. Very open and honest and a good insight to the reality that running a business does not come easy overnight. Cheers mate take care all the best
Nice one Anvil Dave 👍46 weeks of work a year is plenty, with a decent amount of time off for holidays and weekends away. Entertaining videos and reports too, wishing you continued health and success for many years to come.👍
Helllo Dave, great video as usual. Love your honesty regarding the courier business and how much you need to put into the business in order to take anything out! Similar to you, my mortgage is very low with only a year or so left to go. It does make life much less stressful if your overheads are kept as low as possible. I do appreciate that people who have a young family will need more money per month than i do in order to live comfortably. My insurance is slightly less than yours, but not by much! I do not do, nor will i ever do hazardous load work. Agree with your comments about treating customers with respect and honesty, and i fully agree with you regarding having magnetic signs. Because i have known my regular customers for well over 20 years, they trust me to remove the signs when necessary. (It doesnt happen too often). I drive a Vito and main dealer servicing costs are huge. My van is no longer under warranty (68 reg Vito 165000 miles) and for the first ever i am thinking of letting my local garage do the next service, because they charge £55 per hour which is more than half the cost of my main dealer. Keep up gods work, lol, and keep those wheels rolling, and the money pouring in (if only) 👍👍
Top video as always Dave. Would stick with CX. Less than £10 a day and you never know what might happen with your own direct customers. For me it’s worth it rather than having to waste time ringing around looking for work. Best Wishes
Good Video Dave, If you're solely working on the CX as a one man band you probably looking at 20k turnover less than those figures & still the same running costs, So work that out if your thinking of joining never mind what BS CX tell you
Dave, nice to hear business is still going ok, corporation tax comes off profits first before costs, salaries and dividends so your provisional figures maybe off. All best.
Corporation Tax is payable annually and based on the profit that your company makes. Your profit is your company's income minus its expenditure (including salaries paid to employees but excluding dividends paid)
The Tax payable by Dave on receiving (awarding himself) an £18 000 dividend payment (Y/E 2022/3) with a gross income of (£12 000 the free pay allowance) is £1,350.13 which is representative of the lower limit calculation of 8.75%. The Tax and class 4 NI due and payable should Dave be operating in a self employed capacity receiving £30k nett would be £4,531.80. This is how "Company Director Dave" (sounds better than trampy van man) can afford membership at his local Golf Club 🏌♂can even afford to splash the cash on madam's new frock account unless he manages a few hole in one's which can run into a few quid at the 19th😂
Good luck for next year. VW is a far better van than the Citroen. Think they used to share engines with the Mercedes Sprinter/Vito. I've just sold a Vito with 220 thou miles. Had it for five and a half years and it was totally reliable. It was the 2.1 diesel..
Bloody hell it soon goes there's only two things guaranteed in life death and taxes, to safe gard your van i would at least half the manufacturer oilchange interval and definitely change gear box oil around 65 to 70k
@@anvillogistics477 your numbers seem good compared to others especially your fuel cost as a ratio of turnover. I was wondering about how you viewed your van depreciation and your double repayment strategy seems more realistic, These van values tumble once they go beyond what is regarded as retail stock. I notice saintsman has just had to reavaluate the keep or get more out of it calculation with his Doblo.
@@shaungilmartin1505 next years fuel will be higher as I’m doing more distance sameday work. I didn’t factor in van depreciation as I take it for granted it won’t be worth much after 3 years and mega miles. Although I’m sure my accountant will off my corporation tax
@@clivelittlewood I’m sure the accountants will allow for that, but I’ll mention it to them anyway. These figures are really to show earnings and expenses reallly. I leave the fine tuning to experts
@@anvillogistics477 Not a hard one to work out mate, say the van costs £30k, and in 2 years time its going to be worth say £10k with the mileages couriers do, that's £10k a year depreciation. Jeeze, really not much money in courier work these days, and that's with your ADR work. I would dread to think what you're earnings would be without ADR work? As for CX, it's dead, and rates very poor it's doesn't justify the outlay anymore.
Most probably not much wrong with the Citron lol. As i said at the time the garage you where using where not worth a wank, They caused most of the problem from what i saw at the time. as for not taking the head off say no more, THE CITRON never let you down fact, The Garage DID.
@@brianwebb191 Brian you are almost certainly correct and I challenged them about this at the time. They of course denied it all and claimed the the engine suppliers were lying. In the end I got rid of the van and I’ll never use them again
Jeeeeesus, it's not even worth it. You'd be better off working in a shop and benefiting from paid holidays, sick pay, corporate benefits etc. You can also pay into a pension and all that is free from corporation tax, NI and income tax
These things take time.. it’s worth it 100%. Would rather struggle for the first few years of running my own company than slave away for someone else the rest of my life
But you are slaving away for someone else. The payback in this industry seems far too low for the investment required. Don't get me wrong, I know hard work and effort are needed for a greater reward. But the ROI in this particular industry just doesn't seem to be worth it.
