@@flipsidenation7679 Swayze's only movie in the 70s came out in 1979 and it was his debut film lmao. Do your homework. The 70s was Hoffman's, Pacino's, Hackman's, De Niro's, Redford's etc. decade of greatness.
Ned Beatty is as good in this as Burt is. With his slightly comical look from a distance that is cancelled when he's up close and his coldness and intensity comes through, he gave real grit to this. It had the sense that Burt could pull all sorts of good ol' boy shenanigans, but the sheriff played for keeps. This is why for me this is the strongest of Burt's films of this period, in that it has real edge among the humour.
Great Scene!! The two enemies meet face to face! Gator knows who Sheriff Connors is, but I also think that JC Connors is realizing that the man the Government sent to investigate him is sitting in the drivers seat of that killer hot rod Ford.
Because of Ned’s iconic scene in Deliverance, filmmakers were hesitant to cast him so soon after thinking he was typecast. Burt said he had to fight like hell to get Ned in this movie. Good thing he did.
Burt was one bad hombre’. He was wicked good on this film as was the menacing sheriff played to perfection by Ned Beatty. This is Burt’s best film, and made him the biggest film star of the 70’s. Even Brando was in awe and hated him out of pure jealousy.
I love this movie, seen it when I was 10, and the only thing I didn't like about it, is it would show him putting Hurst 4-speed shifter in gear, but other scenes it was an automatic on the column.... Couldn't fool me, even at 10 years old... Still love this movie though....
My wrestling team recited this movie word for word during PT and I did all of Connors quotes. " Only 2 things whats that" but we did it waaaay more country.
I've seen this movie maybe 100 times, I even had two of these cars, one black with blue interior and an N code 429 police spec car and one brown, looked just like this. Never noticed the mic before. My brown car is on YT. Search Ronnie White White Lightning. I built it and sold it to him. He put the 429 and 4 speed in it.
But i have heard some 350s and 327 make this sweet sound with 800cfm qaudjet and a baby cam headers and thrush hush mufflers dumped behind the rear axle
Isn´t the south even better than the west? I like how they laugh at each other like "come on, it´s just a movie..." - that creates this very human atmosphere.
Correcto on Ned Beatty.....he hung his picture right on that part of the southern sheriff....lol...one of my favorite chracters....his under-breath comments are hiiii-larious.
I'm from south Georgia myself and grew up in the 70s...Ned nails his character, the mannerisms, the dialog perfectly
Georgia & the south has changed for worst
@@swisschocolatecake4547
Not the entire State of Georgia.
Only certain shithole cities.
@@jessefincher it's the younger generation they can be really full of 💩
@@swisschocolatecake4547
Agreed 👍🏻
Ned was an old Kentucky boy himself so I don't believe it was too difficult for him to flesh out this character.
Ned Beatty's really working that hat. It absolutely makes the outfit perfect.
RIP Gator, you will be missed.
There will never be another.....
RIP Ned Beatty...loved all your acting with Burt R...
Rest in Peace Ned Beatty thanks for the decades of entertainment.
"Only 2 things in the world I'm scared of....women and the police." Only Burt Reynolds could have said it and delivered it that way. God bless him!
Awesome scene 👏
RIP Bert Reynolds. Luckily there will never be another one like him.
Well-said and expressed. I totally agree.
I loved the southern "sweat" movies of the 60s and 70s.
RIP Ned Beatty. You should've won an Oscar for your portrayal of J.C. Connors! You were OUTSTANDING!
I was coming here to state the same sentiment. Ned Beatty nailed that character.
yep, great scene and character he should have won an Oscer.
One of the best movies ever made
Motorsickle, state police car.... just about anything..... lmao!!!! These guys are gods!!
R.I.P BURT you were the Man of the 70s
Well him and patrick Swayze

One of the greatest portrayals ever of the old-time southern lawman.

It's called Acting, something they know little or nothing about today.
Underrated movie, underrated scene, three great actors
From a goofball to a mean SOB to anything in between, Ned Beatty could play just about any kind of role.
SUCH A GREAT FILM EASILY ONE OF REYNOLDS BEST
Great Scene!! The two enemies meet face to face! Gator knows who Sheriff Connors is, but I also think that JC Connors is realizing that the man the Government sent to investigate him is sitting in the drivers seat of that killer hot rod Ford.
Beautiful car
Tune up fine
That staredown was epic..
Hear the torque of that 429
I hear them secondarys are tuned in fine that's for sure
My all time favorite scene!
Absolutely love this scene.
If there is a finer character actor alive than Ned Beatty, I'd like to know who that person is.
How Ned Beatty wasn't nominated for an Oscar for this is a mystery, he totally nailed the "mean southern sheriff".
R.i.p. to a legend Mr. Reynolds.
Great convincing scene by both Ned & Burt..just heard of Ned's passing today..may you RIP sir..
Boy I sure would like to ride in that car with Burt Reynolds oh my God he is one hell of a man❤❤❤

Burt Reynolds and Ned Beatty. Why'd that combo work so well! :)

Gator knew his Law. There was nothing the Sheriff could do to him. At that particular time.
Man when i was young i wanted sideburns like that ! When COOL was invented
Probably my favorite scene of the movie🤙
The wood rim steering wheel and the 4 speed Hurst has gone. It’s got column shift auto 😂
The engine and shifter shots are from a Mustang, the engine looks like a 427 SCJ.

7 idiots voted this down!? Does mama know they're using her computer?
Burt ruled the 70’s no doubt
Burt was the man and all others that came after him were always compared to the original.
That was a nice car..watch this movie when you get the chance😁
The woman and the police great line.
Ned beatty , the best sheriff Conners, r.i.p. ned
R.I.P Ned!
Scared of only 2 things, women and the Police! Hahahahaha!

The very last second of this little video you can see my yellow 70 Ford F100 pick up in traffic
Great movie!!!

Such a great scene
"Where have you been all my life>" "In prison."
That's a line from the inferior sequel "Gator".

From the guy he was in Deliverance to this cold, calculating, *ruthless* bottomlessly corrupt cop. That's some range.

Funny that Ned outlived Burt !!
I don't recognise Burt without the moustache!
Women and the PO-lice!
Any footage of when Connors drives off into the pond and drowns?
Yep, and that was "poetic justice". Gator watched Sheriff Connors die the same way Connors watched Gators younger brother die.
Better be scart of Rebel Roy,too. "Women and da Poh-lice". Ha-Ha!!

What kind of car is Burt driving?
It's actually a 1971 Ford Custom 500, which was a base model version of the LTD..
A good ol fashioned rear tire smoker!
'71 Ford Custom 500, was actually a interceptor car that was painted brown.
There's your friend JC Conners ? I want to talk to him so go talk to him i want to you to come with me I'll wait right here in the car
tell him what he won Bob all nite stay at shangrula
