As a 54 year old Burt Reynolds fan, it's my favourite movie of his. I actually watched it again on the day I heard of his passing, the final scene when he looks at the camera and gives the O.K sign with his gloved hand had me in tears. A brilliant movie from a legend of a man God bless you
RIP Burt, Hal and James Best. Hollywood will never be the same.
Epic film.
Perfect Saturday afternoon matinee would be Smokey and the Bandit & Hooper. Loved these movies as a kid, in the late 70's.
InstaBlaster.
Nothing beats the 70’s…NOTHING
Took the words right out of my mouth.
As much as I loved Smokey and the Bandit, when I was a kid, Hooper was and is my favorite. Lots of laughs, the craziest stunts I've even seen in a single movie, and even a bit of a dramatic storyline. Perfect Burt Reynolds movie and best movie Hal Needham directed.
Mine too!
Never forget the day.. This little boy waited for dad to come home from work to tell him nan/ his mum said you got to take me to see hooper.. My birthday it was... They were the days when we had the best car films /tv programmes.. Nothing comes close today.....
Agreed!
I was a rookie Pittsburgh Steeler when this movie came out, and at the premiere of the movie in Pittsburgh in July 1978, Terry Bradshaw took me and another rookie with him to see it. He drove in an old standard pick-up truck, and when we got to the packed theater, the people waiting in line and the people already in the theater went nuts seeing Bradshaw!
He had a fun part in it, and as a side note, Terry was a superstar, yes, but also a really nice guy. And his full salary for that 1978-1979 Super Bowl champion season was a whopping $400k… and he was the the SB XIII MVP. Now, a guy who has never thrown an NFL pass, signs a 5-year $250 million contract, with $50 million of it guaranteed. So ridiculous!
Anyway, a fun film, and a fun memory.
WOW! That's Awesome! Thanks for Sharing. I was a HUGE Bradshaw fan growing up. Was difficult to watch Brady and the PATS pass so many records. Thanks for watching! Cheers! Gator
Nice! Must’ve been quite an experience! Loved this and of course both smokey flicks(minus part3). I like how Burt had klecko, mean joe in Smokey 2 and Bradshaw in both hooper and smokey2
@@The1972watcher Terry was also in the first Cannonball Run.
@davidgalinat4257 yes, along with Mel Tillis in the Tropicana race car haha
One of my favorite movies!!
Thanks for sharing! Hooper was my fav as a 12 yr old and led me to want to be a stunt man. However, given no clear career path that way it led to me doing increasingly dangerous stunts around the house! Many falls from roofs, into creeks, jumping cars on bicycles, and the one that hurt most, wrapping myself in freezer tape and being lit on fire (pro tip, even after you put out the fire, the tape glue still burns like a mofo!). But really we were going to probably try that stuff anyway. We were already saying 'Evel Knievel that!' before jumping ramps and stuff. This movie was just perfectly timed during that era! Thanks again for such an entertaining post and one that really took me back!
Its 2024. Im 37 yo. Im watching Hooper for the first time, and its awesome.
One of my Favorite Movies EVER
In my opinion "Hooper" is Burt Reynolds best movie and one of my favorites.
The Vibe in HOOPER is contagious and reminds me of another time...it's almost like the (secret and better) sequel to Smokey and the Bandit. James best away from the Rosco character is such a trip. I also, didnt realize the huge influence on Glen Larson's the Fall guy, which I absolutely loved as a kid. I totally missed out on this one until just a few weeks ago. Love the segments!!!
Edington Thanks man! Very much appreciated. I agree totally. “Hooper” is flawless... “Smokey” has a few cringe worthy moments, mostly acting chops on side characters. It’s a shame that “Hooper” isn’t available on any streaming services or digital downloads (iTunes). Other than Blu-ray/DVD, the modern audience can’t see it. Cheers! Gator 🐊
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews I ordered hooper & white lighting last year from the US all the way to Ireland on dvd & my copy of hi ballin has just arrived. Many great memories as a kid doing stunts with my hot wheels after watching these movies. Thanks for posting gator .👌
My favourite Burt film, absolutely love it.
This is one of my favourite movies. I wish more people remembered it.
Me too... The biggest problem is that it is not available digitally. Can purchase it any way except for DVD/BluRay. And most people have given up on physical media. Turner Classics aired it recently, but other than that, you can’t even find it on any streaming services. If the film landed on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, perhaps it would find its audience. Another film with the same release issue is “The Cannonball Run”. Not as good a film but certainly a fun watch. Hard to find anywhere other than DVD. Ridiculous! Thanks for watching! Cheers! Gator
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews I bought it on DVD a few years back, I'm sure I got it on Amazon. I would've thought it was readily available but maybe not.
Great docs!
This was the first Burt movie I ever saw and it's one of my favorites.
Brian Keith was awesome in this film as well.
I kept hooper and stroker Ace rented out at the videos store my grandma took me every weekend growing up in the 90s an couldn't believe I loved these old movies burt was great
Thank you for putting this together and posting. This is great!!
Hooper was my favorite movie when I was a kid and still is.
It was this movie that got me riding dirt bikes in the 70's and doing stunts with my friends.
Awesome video. Thanks again. I'd love to see more behind the scenes from Hooper.
Thanks Art. “Hooper” is a masterpiece of entertainment. Was so much fun putting that together. Appreciate the kind words. Cheers! 🐊 Gator
Les titres "Nothin' Like The Life (Of A Hollywood Stuntman)" et "A Player, A Pawn, A Hero, A King" sont intemporels...
Finale is fantastic. Bridge jump. Wow
Hooper had great stunts but that final jump was done with a remote controlled car built by Bill Fredricks who also designed the remote controlled limo in " True Lies". Movie insurance companies didnt allow the Hooper jump to be done with stuntmen.
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Jan Michael Vincent Greatest American Athlete
Great movie about movies and the sfx and stunts were real. Good short informative documentary.
Thanks John! Keeping these tight and entertaining. Cheers! Gator
Very nicely done. They really don't make movies like this anymore. I miss seeing Burt and his laugh. He was a legend.
Thanks much. Cheers! Gator
I got this movie in a three movie DVD set with stroker ace. Always was a favorite of mine.
One of his greatest!
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews Sorry to hear about Donnie ...That Sheriff Run Bogen County ...

Mine too... Cheers! Gator 🐊
Great documentary about one of my favorite Burt films. I always recommend watching Smokey and the Bandit, Hooper, and Cannonball Run to people wanting great weekend films. On Hooper, I was told many years ago that the car jump at the end was a world record jump. Although I cannot find anything that confirms this.
Thanks much! "Hooper" tends to be one that I probably watch most often. I'm working on Chapter Five now and about to start the segment on "Cannonball Run"... As for the car jump, that's a really good question. Cheers! Gator
Cannonball Run is awful
@@CaptainSpalding72 noooooo it had a ton of great actors in one movie.I love cannonball run.
Thank you for this, one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. This one, and "The Villain" of course. 👍😉
Mine too! Not a dull moment in “Hooper”. Cheers! Gator 🐊
These are excellent many thanks
Glad you like them! Cheers! Gator 🐊
This movie always makes me laugh.
When I first saw Hooper I was only young about 7 or 8 and I said then . When I grow up I want to be a Stuntman, unfortunately I never never made it because I never had the opportunity . But I know I would have made one hell of a Stuntman. Dar Robinson Hal Needham Burt Reynolds where my hero's .
Great job with the docu. I saw this movie as a thirteen year old in the suburbs of Raleigh, must of seen it thirty times that summer. I dug how you incorporated that hard to find behind the scenes documentary. Hadn't seen that since the late 70s. Keep it up.
Thanks Cooper! I spent many hours researching and getting that right. Hope you check out my other Burt Reynolds stuff on my channel. Cheers! Gator 🐊
Awesome Doc Gator! Thanks bro.
Thanks Peter! Cheers! Gator
Yeah I loved this one too. lol

Jeezus I love this movie. Thanks for these infos.
Sure thing! Cheers! Gator 🐊
I love Hoover I've watched it so many times when it first came on HBO back when I was 13 every time it came on I was sitting in front of the TV watching it
Me too Walter! I was a child of HBO. Helped me become such a huge Burt fan. In fact, I'm working on an HBO piece that focuses on the TOP 10 movies that made HBO in the 70's. Will be a hoot. Cheers! Gator
Love this film 😊
Brilliant burt
I was in grade school and our teacher ask all of us to write a story about what we wanna be “I Said A Stuntman “ Thx Burt RIP -CA

One of my all time faves..and the irony is if the pressure had been full, they'd have hit parked cars and people when they landed so they should be glad it had fallen beforehand :)
Hooper is my favorite!!!!!
Brian Silver It’s a lovely adventure for sure!
GATOR McKLUSKY, say goodbye to the nice officer
Brian Silver “bye bye nice officer”
Mr McKlusky, Your Hooper content is amazing to me. My favourite movie growing up and it still is... The deleted scenes and making of is cool to watch. I watched a wide screen version last week and for the first time ever I saw a joke that is cut off the TV version... Tony, played by Alfie Wise, is in the background of the scene where Sonny arrives to see the rocket car at the studio. Tony escorts a showgirl into the special effects warehouse and 30 seconds later the showgirl walks out of the warehouse. It's a blink and you miss it but the joke isn't visible on a full screen version of the movie.
stuartrees1415 I'm glad I'm not the only one who caught that.
This movie fucking ROCKED....
Agreed! One of his best... Top 5 for sure! maybe Top 3!
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews I watched it on FACEBOOK in full.. Supposed to get my Blu Ray TODAY... I felt so bad for the doggie that took the fall... I met Adam West as a toddler.. My mom said that I talked to him as I sat on his lap as he was Batman.... So cool!
They're still talking about it in Tuscaloosa like it happened last month
LOL -hey, Gator-my mom covered both my brother's and my eyes when Roger's present jumped outta the cake too; -one of us on either side of her. We were pissed! What can I say? She was fast, man. Her arms were quicker than airbags.....or at least she always thought so
HaHa that's great!!!!
Hooper is the original "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood"
"Hooper" is one of his best! So entertaining. Not a dull moment.
@@GATORMcKLUSKYreviews We need a Hal Needham NOW! These days a lot of movies just don't have that chemistry and soul about them.
Brad Pitt's character is based on Hal Needham.
If you look close you can see the red car that makes the big jump at the end is not a '78 Trans-Am... it looks like a miniature of a Datsun 280Z or something similar
Jimmy Best
Loved this movie so much when I was a kid.
Kaka Dancer. Kaka.
🤣🤣🤣
C’est également un film d’espionnage, THE SPY WHO LAUGHED AT DANGER, que l’on filme.
Catherine Deneuve :
avec Jean-Paul Belmondo,
LA SIRÈNE DU MISSISSIPI (1969) de François Truffaut
avec Burt Reynolds,
LA CITÉ DES DANGERS (1975) de Robert Aldrich
et
Dyan Cannon :
avec Jean-Paul Belmondo,
LE CASSE (1971) d’Henri Verneuil
avec Burt Reynolds,
LE FAUVE (1973) de Buzz Kulik
Hooper had fabulous stunts but that last jump was done with a remote controlled car built by Bill Fredericks who also built the remote controlled limo for " True Lies ".
awesome channel

So wait a minute. Anyone ever seen Justice League Snyder Cut? Because the scene where Batman storms the base in the abandoned town it looks very similar to the hospital sequence in Hooper. Even the smoke stack falling over the car. I’m wondering if this movie influenced Snyder
I've been trying to find this movie 4 months to watch

Second best Burt movie ever! Anyone know the first?
For me? It's "The Longest Yard", but "Smokey" is not the wrong answer. And as much as I love "Deliverance", it's not a "Burt Reynolds Film".

Alot of folks aren't aware that Terry Bradshaw sold used cars in the off-season and Franco Harris hitch-hiked to games as a rookie. The NFL, those fantastic players built it, but they didn't get rich back in the early 70s.
Does anyone know WHERE the building was that Sky repelled down? I think it might be in Glendale, CA. The rest was shot in Burbank, and the ranch was in Santa Clarita.
I still like to think this was Smokey Part 2.
