That's a much more positive comment, thanks for a sensible reply. We each have our own motivations, and I wish you well in all your endeavors. One thing we can all agree on - Lincoln is a pretty fantastic guitar player. :-)
Huge thanks for the kind words; this was a very fun night with great friends. Honored to have played with Linc and band for all those years! Blessings- Norm P.S. Bass players: to learn my and/or LB's music, please visit me at my instructional site, ArtOfGroove.
FANTASTIC. Just saw them at NAMM 2010 in Anaheim. Talk afterwards by those who attended was of high praise. Lincoln is awesome on guitar work, but Norm is the bomb on bass. Both are great individuals to have spoken with as well.
@xXGzArRuKXx yes he used to use the pod x3 but he now uses the line 6 pedal. my pastors son who is the guitar player at our church looked it up and went and got it. i believe it is available at guitar center.
note: If you're going to critique sound quality, especially low frequencies, make sure you're listening through some decent headphones/speakers (which many of you may be already) and not your laptop speakers.
When I do have kids, I'll certainly tell them that they can be great at anything they choose to work at. But whether or not you choose to believe in God, you can't deny that some people are more talented at things than others. It's God that puts those talents in us, and like I said before, we do have a responsibility to hone those talents, whatever they may be. If I've learned anything at church, it's to grab hold of the talents I've been giving and use them for His glory, not fear of failing.
@xXGzArRuKXx Very true. And, regarding his sound, people have to remember that he uses American made Fender custom shop Strats. Those make a big difference in the quality of his sound and tone, as will any high-end guitar. Not to mention the fact that he is a sound engineer.
@cracker2200 no but it changes velocities. in other words it not only makes it louder but it also changes the muted tone that you here if you play quietly
lol. yeah, sorry mam.. that video also shows him saying that he only uses the pod x3 for amp modeling while he uses a boss bd-2 and OD-3 (biisted by SD-1) with a DD-3 for his signature sound. He could of changed to solely using only the pod x3, but i doubt it.
And so I don't mean offense to anyone, I just don't like hearing things like "God blessed him with mad skillz!" Maybe God blessed him with natural talent, but Lincoln deserves full credit for developing that talent and pursuing his career. It's great that you guys are excited about his religious leanings, but let's respect the man who put in the work to get this good: Lincoln himself.
@m00nchildblues he uses Dimarzio 61 bridge and two 58 and wires his strat different, if you search on Lincoln Brewster gear on TH-cam he tells you what all he uses :) to get that awesome tone !
One commenter pointed out that this groove is very Satch-like -- to my ears it sounds a lot like the Dorian mode workout called "Cool #9," fused with a touch of Herbie Hancock's "Chamelon."
@stanislassor...I'm sure your bass playing is exponentially better! Please thrill us all by posting your far superior bass riffs! That's EXACTLY why non-musicians shouldn't comment on the quality of someone's playing!
As a sound Tech I would be willing to bet that they have a split line from his bass in to a DI, straight to the PA. Then a output from the DI to the amp just for some stage volume. Fairly common, and I personally hate it .. haha Still an incredible solo either way ;)
Yeah, he really only uses the POD X3 Live as a mic'ed up amp simulation. The only effects I've seen him use on the PX3 are the wah for the "beatbox" technique he does and maybe a hair of delay, but that's it. Everything else is from his Boss stompboxes.
Sorry mam but it's NOT a Line6 Pod, it's actually Boss BD-2 blues driver boosted by the Boss SD-1 super overdrive followed by a 200ms setting on a Boss DD-3 digital delay and a Boss RV-5 for that nice reverb sound. Lincoln has in fact one of the Boss main spokesman after telling various interviewees that he's annoyed by people who assumes that he uses a Line 6 Pod and would never use anything other than Boss products. visit his site and it'll tell you for your sake!
ive been playing bass and lead guitar for about 8 years with different kind of genre. theres nothing wrong with the tone. the sound of his bass is some kind of jazz/punky. I would say those rips that he plays are crazy. have you tried slapping the bass? cuz those tone are good for slap.
yea. as long as we express ourselves. its all good. hahah. everyone has their own style in music so i cant blame if u like or dont like it because u have your own style and i have mine.. :) and btw, i use a booster on my computer speaker so i hear a bassy sound. maby thats why it sounds good on mine. but when I tried to lower the boost down i hear a really light bass sound/tone which is not really good at all. ;)
@octavarium23 I haven't seen any guitarist that I like as much as Lincoln, or any guitarist that has as much talent as him, but its really just a matter of opinion I suppose.
I'll bet he practiced hours and hours every day. If we practiced like that, we'd be this good too, but we didn't, so we aren't. Don't limit your potential by claiming God either gives it to you or he doesn't. God has blessed us all with the potential to do whatever we set our minds to - free will and all that, right? I would hope Lincoln would agree - put your mind to it and you can do it too!
The song is called "give him praise" anyone else hearing this SRV tone? Killer, but the tone of the bass during the solo wasn't that great imo This song has a less chill band of gypsies vibe. Reminds me of SRV covering Jimi
That's a much more positive comment, thanks for a sensible reply. We each have our own motivations, and I wish you well in all your endeavors.
One thing we can all agree on - Lincoln is a pretty fantastic guitar player. :-)
Lincoln is one of my fave guitar players of all time! His playing is good but his worship behind it is even better! Love you LINCOLN! You're the best
Excellent guitar player!! Great gift from God!!
Awesome! Talent displayed for HIS glory…
Huge thanks for the kind words; this was a very fun night with great friends. Honored to have played with Linc and band for all those years! Blessings- Norm

Norm and his MTD = amazing!

wow, that is really special
LOVE IT!!!
basist is awesome!

pure awesome !ness!

GIVE HIM(God) PRAISE!!! God really blessed Him with such skill...
@stanislassor...I'm sure your bass playing is exponentially better! Please thrill us all by posting your far superior bass riffs! That's EXACTLY why non-musicians shouldn't comment on the quality of someone's playing!
Praise God !
The keyboardist is a wiz lol!! He killed it too!
As a sound Tech I would be willing to bet that they have a split line from his bass in to a DI, straight to the PA. Then a output from the DI to the amp just for some stage volume. Fairly common, and I personally hate it .. haha Still an incredible solo either way ;)
@m00nchildblues he uses dimarzio's single coils... not sure which ones exactly.
Yeah, he really only uses the POD X3 Live as a mic'ed up amp simulation. The only effects I've seen him use on the PX3 are the wah for the "beatbox" technique he does and maybe a hair of delay, but that's it. Everything else is from his Boss stompboxes.
ha ha. I just cant stop laughing at that "hooves" comment ha ha. You're hilarious.
I really wonder what the secret of his guitars sound, ive been tryin to reach his tone for 15 years. I just cant :(
the keyboardist using what kind of sound actually?
umm...check out lincoln brewster's live guitar rig set up...its in the related vids
@badrnu He was born in '71 so at this time he was mid 30s.
That reminds me of cool no 9 by satriani but its also excelent!
Hard to believe that's all POD technology...and his magical fingers, of course
Just saying that they are one and the same scale, with a different root note. B minor obviously starts on the B and D major obviously on the D.
@stanislassor Would like to hear some of your stuff, so we'd know what a phenomenal bass player sounds like.
where did you get this video? Is it from a DVD?Where can I get it?
ladies and gentlemen...JOHN LENNON ON THE BASS !!! :-)
Samuel Stephen now this is a jam session lol
What pickups does he use on his custom shops and EJ strats
you say desperate, I say passionate.
4 shure put i miss the 535 in this clip :(

allready did, but tha's old news. check out his NEW interview on the Boss website! lol
i don't really know but, i do know he was using aeolian mixolydian and phrygian
@octavarium23
How do you define musician?
Amazing "God" guitar! Rivals Hendrix!
O.O (my eyes left wide open)
holy mackryl!!
he uses ac30 right?
Key of D major (B minor).
That bassist is a SOB of a player! I mean he's so fucking good!!! I think he must also be a great guitarrist....
actually he said it's 9 gauge
they say people can't praise and worship very well when there's a guitar solo so. or any kind of instrumental solos for that matter.
why the bassist is not in the new album?what happen?also what is his name?
Reny Almohallas bass player's name is Norm Stockton. He has his own c.d.s and stuff. Lincoln is one of the senior pastors at our church.
mysterious ways
Lincoln uses D'addario .10 Nickelwound strings
anyone know the name of the song?
Give Him Praise
he sues custom patches on his POD....I wonder where he gets em.
와 쩔어요
Great! ;-) (y)
@octavarium23 I haven't seen any guitarist that I like as much as Lincoln, or any guitarist that has as much talent as him, but its really just a matter of opinion I suppose.
@octavarium23
Incorrect sir.
It's good to see them cutting loose. Most Christian musicians are afraid to cut loose in church, like it's sinful or something....
dude I think the bass was probily the best one
@dyakel101 sounds like he needs to raise his strings off the fretboard
I'll bet he practiced hours and hours every day. If we practiced like that, we'd be this good too, but we didn't, so we aren't. This sounds like Satriani to me.. A lot... But its awesome :).
@dyakel101 Lets hear your tone :)
The song is called "give him praise" anyone else hearing this SRV tone? Killer, but the tone of the bass during the solo wasn't that great imo
This song has a less chill band of gypsies vibe. Reminds me of SRV covering Jimi
actually that would be EDDIE VAN LENNON !!
I would prefer to listen to a sweet pocket groove with feel than bass shredding... but that's just me.
Certainly god must love and approve of "christian" music - right? Whatever people!
