If you allow me to vent a little bit, because is 2020 and there’s just chaos and despair everywhere... my ex-girlfriend was finally coming to Australia after more then one year apart when COVID-19 hit (we are both from Brazil but I moved here). This song is stuck in my head for weeks now and I can’t help thinking how much I’d like to dance this version with her. Things are different between us, but I still love her. No idea if she will be able to come one day and how much harder is being in a foreign country without the people you love and care about. So, bro, your comment hit me in the feels. I hope you know how lucky you are and treasure your relationship
This song really hits harder than normal today. I lost my soulmate of 35 years yesterday, after her long battle with cancer. We'd been together since fifteen.

My deepest sympathies... I lost my wife in January after 16 years, and it is not easy. Others can't even really help, but six months on, it's at least a little less painful, and it only comes back in waves sometimes when I'm alone- you're not much older than I am, so I can tell you that no matter how it feels right now, it doesn't have to be the end- I'm not saying it will be exactly the same for you, but I spent endless hours in prayer after the funeral, and I've met someone who I think is the true love of my life. It's nothing against my wife, but we weren't exactly a perfect match- we were very loyal to one another and a great team, but it was usually more like being business partners than a romantic couple.
You may find someone new that isn't as good for you as your wife, but there are many kinds of comfort, and things will get better with time. Don't be afraid to look at younger ladies, either- believe it or not, some of them genuinely are into older men- I'm 45, and my girlfriend is 18- I do look young for my age, but that's sort of irrelevant compared to the fact that I own a home, am successful, well-educated, maintain a nice vehicle, prefer being married and am emotionally and financially ready to have children. There aren't many 18-40 year old men that can say the same. Probably not what the fat old ladies that have four different "baby daddies" and are "finally ready to settle down" like to see, but who cares? I don't even know them, and I'd like to have a pretty wife who can bear healthy children safely, not a wine mom with a bunch of other men's brats that they expect me to pay for in tow.

Regardless of all the people here, I still think Blue October is criminally underrated. When he sings you can feel it, and it's something I can't say about most artists today.
When I get down about my cancer I just put this song on put my mind in a different spot and just close my eyes and listen to this song
thank the lord he beat his demons and has just got better and stronger and producing some excellent sounds which people can both relate to and heal from
90% of the time I can't listen to blue October because it hurts too much but once the depression hits hard they are the only thing that keeps me going

I just really discovered Blue October. Am amazed at how this band has eluded me for so many years. I literally cannot think of one song I have heard that I don’t love.

I’m an avid fan of alternative and contemporary hard rock. I’ve listened to Blue October here and there and thought the lead singer had a unique voice but the band as a whole never blew me away....until I heard the “I hope your happy” album. In my opinion, this is a juggernaut of an album and this song in particular is incredible. I hope they continue creating great music for a long time.
if you can, see them at a live show. They will blow your mind. They are phenomenal live! I've been a diehard fan since the Foiled days ('06)- they just get better and better. Justin is such an amazing person and storyteller- watch some of his Open Book stuff or interviews.
