I never understood why so many hated the outfit. I think it's great precisely because it is totally tasteless and gaudy and the sort of thing an alien might wear without a thought.
I can't stop watching these. Thanks for making such specific memes for us classic nerds. I'm one of the only American whovians I know that binges classic who.
This such a puzzle, why on earth would the production team and writer do everything they could to make Bakers Doctor such a monster in his introductory story? Even Bill Hartnell was more likeable in his first outing and in that story he nearly stones a helpless person to death!
Are you kidding? In those days the Doctor's personality actually changed after regenerating (unlike in Nu-hu, where they are all Jeremy Kyle). The sixth Doctor was just brimming over with personality, in stark contrast to his predecessor, which warmed the public immediately to him. Conversely, RTD has his working-class Doctor snog his 19 year old assistant, & then has him die, to everyone's relief.
Can we give tons of credit to Colin Baker though? Dude was working at all times, throughout his run, to keep his Doctor engaging. He didn't sleepwalk through any scenes like I feel had sometimes happened in previous "Doctor Who"; Colin Baker really really committed. I didn't always like his version of the Doctor, but as is more common in TV these days, you don't have to like a lead at all times to want to watch them. I'd rather watch Colin Baker than at least a few other original run Doctors.
I think that was the plan, they didn't want people to instantly fall in love and accept him. Colin Baker nailed it, he literally wanted this role since he was a student, and watched the first episode
kind of disappointed that "still bullying children, eh?" didn't make into this video. I'm the only one that had fun watching 6th? Scripts kind of sucked but I was laughing every 5 minutes with Colin's delivery. I find six-y quite fun to rewatch
Watched the Twin Dilemma with my friend the other day. Not gonna lie, after we had a good laugh at it, we kinda got invested in the story. Part four isn’t actually that bad and the rest of it would have been greatly improved with just a simple rewrite. If they’d have leaned more into the comedy of it, made a clearer line between crazy Doctor and normal doctor and cut the strangling, I think they could have made a fairly decent story out of it that would have left Colin with a much firmer ground to build on.
6 almost strangled two people, and 4 almost snapped a guy's neck, and hit people over the head with chairs. The Doctor is more violent than you realize. (And mind you 4's actions was all in one episode as well)
6 was great. Never given time to develop in the way Colin wanted. So much potential lost until Big Finish came along. The irony is that in the era of modern Who, fans are crying out for a 'darker' Doctor. IMHO Colin could have potentially run at least as long as if not longer than Tom if he had wished.
Ya know looking at 6 even in his early moments isn't that much different to other incarnations in terms of the arrogance and overconfidence they show off, like he isn't that far off from 12 in early days in terms of seemingly not caring about anyone around them, and over obanduce of personality and unfiltered ego is a honest big breath of fresh air compared to his quiet content predecessor who always felt like he was in a daze which, no disrespect to Peter Davidson, but in comparison 6 is full life and color (quite literally with that coat) that he honestly makes him just a much more interesting character to watch
I think the key difference is that 5 was afraid to express his opinion (Unless that was through passive aggression), and 6 shouted out of his opinion whenever he pleased.
I remember randomly watching the exact part in Twin Dilemma when 6 chokes out Peri. It was at that moment I gave up on the show in general until near the 50th. Thank Bucky's girlfriend Bonnie, ur, Connie for getting me back in (and also near 25 years).
I aspire to have as much self love as six does 😭
Yeah it’s a shame he started beating himself up in the new series 😔

It works, but the blue coat would've been better.
Okay but there is something weirdly endearing about a self-absorbed character
It all begins and ends with carrot juice.
2:14 Shiny suit lad is played by Kevin McNally, AKA Professor Jericho in Village of the Angels :) (and seemingly more of Flux!)

I'm in the same situation
I do occasionally, it's just hard to find it.
2:55 I suppose villainous murderers have the same fate as alien spies

It's really sad. In his later stories, Six is much better.

@@FreeTheDonbas Ah yes. The Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors famously have the same personality. Definitely.

“Is this the face of a sane person” are you familiar with Colin Baker’s croc collection???
Can we just pretend Attack of the Cybermen was 6's first episode?
I love how they just made the doctor even more insane in the first serial

What's wrong with the strangling? That's the best scene.
"Silence wretch!" - That's a good one, I'm going to try that on the next person who annoys me 😂
This is why I like 6. He can be warm and friendly, and then immediately shout "Silence wretch!" at someone without warning.

I'm laughing because
6th is like "b1tch is my time to shine out of the way
Witness Me"
Anyone who tries to say Six isn't a dish and a half is just a coward. He can get it. Alliterate and condescend to me, baby.

Big Finish is fan-wank.
Say what you want about this story but you can tell that Colin Baker Is having the time of his life here. 😂
God SILENCE, WRETCH! gets me everytime
How could you miss out "thou craggy knob"?

God I love 6 and 12, they acted like old men who haven't been with another of their kind in years, exactly what he is.
6 & 12 are vastly different
@@iaminsideyourhome69 that has nothing to do with character
@@iaminsideyourhome69 what? It’s true

I don't believe you.
Dude is drunk
The Twin Dilemma is the worst Doctor Who story of the classic era. Maybe even of the entire show.
