I hope you all had as much fun as I had. There's no commentary on this video, though not for lack of trying. I ran out of steam for commentary after 30 minutes of Turf Wars, and I ended up playing for over 3 hours straight.

Damn… after splatoon 3 frosty fest I wanted to remember what splatoon one was like again. I’m 15 right now and to be playing this when I was 7 is something truly special. I’ll always be loyal to this game franchise because of how unique it truly it

i really wanna play splatoon 2 but we lost the nintendo switch cords. and we never bought the splatoon 2 game. i used to play splatoon all the time on my wii U it was so fun and i really miss it. now whenever i play it i feel sad. i dont see many people playing it these days so we have to wait a while

Im so glad this is out here on the internet somewhere. Ever since splatfests ended in the first game Ive always wished to go back and experience it again. Its so nice to see original gameplay while im having bouts of nostalgia. Its a shame nobody plays anymore 😔

Oh man, it’s so hard to describe how nostalgic it is watching it again too. Since it was so niche it all felt so new and incredibly fun. 😭 these new splatfests are so mid

As a Splatoon 2 only player, I thought:
Vertical swings weren't a thing?
Only one song played during splatfest?
Where was the Salmon Run announcement?
The map seems smaller.
That last minute song is more anxiety inducing
The plaza is HUGE
The dance is better
Was the Aerospray RG good back then?
Was the kraken form terrifying?
Callie sounds like Pearl announcing splatfest.
The font is so... blockish.
How many specials are there?
The winning animations are awesome, better than 2.
The losing song is so painful, and the inklings are just as dramatic as Octolings.
The maps seem small, but long.
Splatfest seems so magical and special.

None Present I wish I could’ve been there to experience the splatfests, seeing callie and Marie up on the stage performing. They need to put callie into the square so her and Marie can enjoy the Splatfest together

I have Splatoon 1, but I don't think ever joined any splatfests during that time (I wasn't really a hardcore fan back then lol.) But I kinda regret not joining honestly :,)
fr same, I remember in christmas 2015 begging my parents for a wii u with splatoon in it, eventually I got yes a wii u but there was mario kart 8. I really loved that game, but I wish I had been able to play splatoon back then, and the fact is that after almost 7 years I still don't have it. I think imma get it by modding my wii u but it won't just feel the same, now there aren't splatfests anymore and you barely find anyone online
Splatfests are limited events that you’ll never see the same way again, and that makes them very special, just like irl festivals and concerts. Even though (obviously) I haven’t been in a splatoon 1 splatfest for many years now, I have such fond memories of the music and atmosphere. I’d say I wish there was a mode to make the game have the splatfest setting with the nighttime party light ambience and all, but that would absolutely ruin what makes them so unique and irreplaceable, and why I make a point to at least play a few games in each splatfest many years later in Splatoon 2/3.

I never really got to play a Splatfest because I was at my grandmother's house when they would happen. There was only one time I was able to when we took the Wii U to her house and it was an experience I'll never forget.
There should at least be one more splatfest before splatoon 1 servers close down

I remember choosing a team but I never actually ended up playing. Technically this is the only splatoon 1 splatfest I’ve ever “participated” in.
I’ve done much more in splatoon 2 though.
HONESTLY, you should have done it.
An attack helicopter is here lol my mom lived in Arkansas at the time, and the fest was revealed around the time I had to go back to my dad’s. I didn’t think to bring my Wii U with me. I wasn’t able to go back until the next summer, but I either forgot my Wii U existed, or all of the fests ended and the game was over.
