I actually assumed that the real God is the combination of Chuck and Amara, the Alpha and Omega, the creator and destroyer. I think that the real God broke into two parts because of indecisiveness. Never being able to take a final action. An issue solved by breaking the conflicting parts into two parts.

      Why not all three?
Chuck and Amara are the two main pieces of God, and the shadow is essentially what's left. Whatever essence is considered uniquely God, without real form or function, just retired to the void to rest.

I have a Chuck/God theory: Chuck when we first meet him, nerdy writer Chuck, IS human, and actually is a prophet. Later, when he comes back, he is capital G God and he’s taken on Chuck‘s form to walk around in. We see a complete change in Chuck’s character, and there’s no reason to think that human Chuck is dead necessarily, since we spend all our time on God Chuck. After all, we never see AU Sam and Dean again after they cross over universes. Or, God might’ve just killed Chuck to replace him. It wouldn’t be the first time he snapped his fingers and got rid of someone just because he wanted to. Making human Chuck a prophet let him voyeuristically watch Sam and Dean while he also watched other versions of Sam and Dean. Then he decided they were his favorite version, so he took human Chuck’s place, either by pretending to be him or just by getting rid of him.

The real reason is due to simple retcon. Fortuna, the goddess of luck knew Sam and Dean were talking about God once they confirmed Chucks physical appearance to her. This suggests that God has been using his Chuck form far longer than you would normally assume. Yet Raphael, who was with God since before creation was a thing, did not recognize Chuck as God. His whole temper tantrum at the beginning of season 5, going on about how God is nowhere to be found confirms this and leaves no room for doubt.

And when the boys left he got up snapped his fingers and went off to have some new fun, while the Winchester story was him just goofing off some with a spin off idea cause why would Chuck leave a plan B of he knew he would win to devour the multiverse?

Ive always believed that Chuck has always BEEN God, simply hiding behind his own ruleset. Like, until a specific set of circumstances occur, or a point in time happens, God put himself in a quiet box in the corner of Chuck's mind. That box slowly leaks a little bit of God out of it, making Chuck a writer and giving him the ability to not only be a "prophet" and write about everything, but he also chained himself an arch angel to him in case something were to try and happen prematurely. God came out when he was needed, or he thought would make his story that much cooler.

  • @peteclark7461
    @peteclark7461 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

I am sympathetic to the theories that Chuck's defeat at the end of the series was deliberately self-orchestrated. First of all, this character was introduced to us as someone who likes to playact as anyone other than himself and even "go deep" into the role. He seems to actually be living a mortal life, not just pretending to do so to mess with the Winchesters. His transition into the petulant creator who now mostly gets pleasure only out of destroying his toys is so sudden and harsh that it feels like a new role. Also supernatural beings faking their own deaths is a trope on the show: it is a primary defining trait of Gabriel, whom Lucifer tells "You learned all your tricks from me." Whom did Lucifer learn his tricks from? Although yes, unprovable or unfalsifiable from what the show gives us, the idea of Chuck being able to not just fake his own death but to fake it in a perfect way makes much more sense to me than him not having this ability: why shouldn't God be able to do this? I will admit that sometimes the show gives us supernatural beings that are compellingly uberpowerful only to come down with fatal cases of "Episode 22itis," and I wish the writers had avoided this. When Death -- perhaps the character most convincingly portrayed as being too far beyond humans to even be a villain as we understand it -- was defeated by a "yoink" maneuver involving his own scythe, I was profoundly disappointed. I agree that the episode in which Chuck is just being cruel to the alternate universe Radio Shed clerk doesn't make a lot of sense for this theory...but that's a pretty small part of the whole. Also Jack brings this guy back to life later, in an act that was certainly orchestrated by the writers to make him look heroic, so...why not orchestrated by Chuck?

    • @radagast7200
      @radagast7200 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

So he was basically creating Jack to take over for him so he could leave and start a new game? That would make sense. I always saw him as more of a dungeon master than a writer.

It would be hard to argue free will if Chuck (God) is able to know what choice we will make with 100% certainty, so maybe Radio Shed guy was part of a backup plan to start the entire replacement hunt over again if needed. With Jack's power level if he fell taking him out might have required wiping the entire universe he existed in as collateral?

The Shadow is God, because everything came from the void and eventually will return to the void. It’s also what kept Cass alive and the Winchesters safe by keeping Cass(their guardian angel) alive. Chuck doesn't do much Godly either. The Empty theory holds water because the Empty literally existed before everything and every soul which dies in its afterlife such as demons or the death of angels return these supposed eternal beings to the Empty. We already know that Chuck likes to lock up those he disagrees with. The theory makes the most sense that the entity of Darkness' opposite is just the entity of Light; especially because Chuck doesn't really create on screen but instead claims so while also destroying just about everything whilst his opposite Amara, the supposed destroyer, is rather restrained in her attacks once she fully regains her powers.
And the biggest problem of Chuck being big G god is that his struggle and union with Amara literally makes zero sense. Let me remind you that it took Chuck alongside his 4 archangels (Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, and Lucifer) to defeat and lock away Amara; yet there is a multiverse, a collective of other universes each with their own versions of the archangels. Other world Michael is even against the entity claiming to be big G god in seasons 13 & 14. There are three answers for this with issues for each:
    1. It took all archangels across the multiverse to defeat Amara
    Problem:
The existence of another world comes as a surprise to both Gabriel & Lucifer, and Metatron, who was supposedly there at the beginning, never mentions it.
    2. Amara is not actually that powerful and Chuck is always in control
    Problem:
If true, why re-absorb her? The show acts like this is some huge power boost; as tho he is reclaiming his other half. If he's significantly more powerful than her, there would be no reason to interact with her whatsoever.
    3. Chuck is not big G god but rather a personified character of the line "Let there be Light"
    Problem:
Literally everyone who sees Chuck after he reveals himself instantly recognize that he is in fact the big G god.
However, more water on to the Empty is the real big G god is that Chuck is not more powerful than the Empty because he cannot grab just anyone out from the Empty's grasp. Chuck's explanation of saving Cas is that he was, at the time, a lowly angel rather than a Seraph. Chuck only demonstrates, outside of a lowly Castiel, he can only bring back Lilith of all people who gets almost immediately incinerated by Aichael. We know that Chuck can leverage and twist the minds of others of which he first did so with Casifer where Luci after leaving Cas' body goes back to being completely against Chuck. Later on, Chuck places both Aichael and Luci on his side despite neither siding with him until suddenly both do. Even better Luci's return from the Empty really only works because he was aready awake which is also not Chuck's doing.
The big, huge problem with the Empty is big G god theory is that the Empty does almost nothing _and_ seems to have very little power entirely. And there's really no headcanon that can explain that away. The only real two solutions is that either big G god never shows up at all or big G god is not omnipotent and, in Supernatural, a finite being.
The show really should've stuck with the original idea that Cas was big G god in disguise the whole time; have a slight rewrite where Cas and the Empty are the two halves of big G god where one has all the power with zero compassion and the other has true empathy but is vulnerable to physical harm. Not very accurate to God but Supernatural has _never_ been accurate to its own in-universe religions especially anything from the Bible.

  • @J__T
    @J__T 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

I really like the Crowley angel theory! And I've never heard of it before. Personally, when it came to demons, the show tells us Lilith is the first demon created by Luci, so I just naturally thought the Princes of Hell were Luci's children with Lilith after she was a demon. The problem is that Lilith isn't that powerful comparably but hybrids are supposed to be far more powerful than their parents such as Jack & the cambion that literally vanishes from existence.
But you're right, every demon sans Crowley has black smoke except for those we don't see that Asmodeus was trying to summon. Who were those guys again? Who created them? Were they really demons or something more alike to Leviathans but for Hell?
Anyway, you got something wrong about why Crowley couldn't be an angel: Angel radio is _not_ on at all times. Anna only hears the voices _after_ Dean is raised by Cas in "Lazarus Rising". It's totally possible that an angel could've lost his grace and thus became the human named Fergus born to a witch. If human-born angels do have souls (of which there is nothing saying they don't especially with Gadreel healing Cas that one time), then Fergus went to Hell where he either became Crowley or remembered himself as an angel named Crowley. Honestly this would explain why he not only knows that angels can be tortured precisely but also knowing Naomi and what Luci's plan actually is in season 5. Plus he is one of the very few people who knows how to close doorways to other universes something at least two of the archangels didn't even know were a thing.
Either that or Crowley somehow learned knowledge that literally no one else except the literally most powerful entities would know AND he also just so happened to know how and where to find Death in season 5 and Cain in season 9. He's also the first and only main-world character to make bullets out of angel blades. He exists in a world where multiple villains he's solely dealt with had the power to snap their fingers and kill whomsoever they please and yet Crowley went out on his own terms. Even when the show got bad, Crowley was continuously entertaining. Angel origins or not, I'm glad Mark stayed as long as he did.
Last thing, if you notice Crowley, while he does take over other bodies, he always returns to the one we know. The real reason is that Crowley is Mark's character; however, what is the in-universe reason? Maybe... much like Cas with Jimmy or the Michael sword... maybe that's one of Crowley's chosen vessels when he was an angel and thus much like Cas, the vessel feels like his own skin?

but then, why not call on them? Having Michael (who was clearly lucid, and within easy reach) would have been of huge help in the fight.
To me, it is obvious that Gabriel was supposed to have died, and Michael was never coming back, but then, Season 15 decided to bring them back. Keep in mind, God also said in S11 that he cannot rebuild Gabriel or Raphael (it would take much too long), but then just casually brings back Lucifer in S15. Which was pointless, because if all he wanted was the book, why not just teleport it over to himself? Why even bother with this middle step?

There's always the gnostic route, where Chuck is just the demiurge, the architect of the physical universe. Where he takes what already exists and shapes it into anything he wants, while Amara is his opposite, the only being that can destroy things completely to the point where Chuck can't reconstruct it.
The Shadow in this case would be the physical manifestation of the raw material that Chuck uses for Creation. The "Nothing" that needed to exist whenever "Something" came into being, the literal shadow of creation.

Let’s assume Chuck WAS the capital G God, enacting some weird plan to hand power to a successor over several seasons. We encounter alternate Sam & Dean (the douchey ones) caught in between worlds, because their home universe ceased. Several other universes are introduced and then destroyed. So if Chuck’s master “plan” was to hand control over to Jack, he did it by annihilating a bunch of universes, killing/merging with Amara, and hurting enough people Jack loved just so Jack could Hoover all that Chuck + Amara power into himself, yet leaving Chuck alive as a human.
Chuck in his prime needed four archangels and Cain’s curse, just to imprison Amara. And that imprisonment was so sloppy it turned Lucifer evil, lead Caine to become the first demon, and still leaked all over the place.
Also, if there’s one Chuck who created many basically identical universes… there must have been only one Amara. And only one curse to imprison her… so one and only one Lucifer goes bad? So alternate universe Michael, not in the “Sword of Michael” Sam costume… why was he fighting Lucifer? Dude encounters our Lucifer, recognizes who he is, recognizes that he’s the Lucifer from some other universe, but still wants to fight. Why? That Michael’s brother Lucifer wasn’t evil.

Chuck was evil from the jump he even said it when they first met him.
“I write things and then they come to life. Yeah, no, I'm definitely a god. A cruel, cruel, capricious god. The things I put you through - The physical beatings alone. I killed your father. I burned your mother alive and then you had to go through the whole horrific deal again with Jessica. All for what? All for the sake of Literary symmetry. I toyed with your live, with your emotions for entertainment.” -Monster at the end of this book
Title was a major clue Chuck was the monster at the end of the book because he made all of it happen. He told them the truth that one time and nobody believed him because they didn’t want to.
When he was finally revealed as the big bad what did he say? He said they were his favorite show.
So when he said from the start that he was evil and that he toyed with them for entertainment he was telling the truth.
Chuck knew Gab was alive he just didn’t wanna bother helping him. Every time something went down where they wanted his help he said it wasn’t his problem. Why would saving Gab be any different? Easier to just lie and say he was dead.
He only helped Michael when he wanted to use him. And give Gabs track record with them he would have never betrayed them the way Michael did.
And he lied about being able to restore jacks soul because he was afraid of him. There was a reason they had a ban on nephilim with a kill order on site.
Because he knew a nephilim with a soul would be more powerful than him. Jack was never a danger to the world when soulless but he was a danger to Chuck once he got his soul back.

When it comes to angels and demons in the show, I think it’s pretty straight forward that the angels were never mortal. Just cosmic energy, and creation. Especially when it comes to the archangels. Lucifer creating the Prince’s was more than likely just giving them a bit of his own grace, or just the fact of what he did to specifically make them more powerful than ordinary demons. Just like with Chuck creating the different class of angels. Each with a specific task, and chain of command. However, I don’t like that the princes could kill angels so easily. That was lazy writing.
Chuck being God was always the plan with Kripke, and I don’t really think there’s any way around that. He wanted a story, but wanted to see what would happen without his influence on that creation. The fact that it was different writers after Kripke finished the story he wanted to tell, is how we ended up with the major inconsistency. Cas never truly being at full power after the fall, angels being severely nerfed after the fall, and how the boys treated Cas with little to no respect basically. He was turned into a joke character which sucked.
Chuck lying about being able to bring Gabriel, Michael, and Raphael back during the Amara arch was all just more manipulation by him and the writers. Chuck wrote everything that happened, and wanted to be in the story. The other archangels being together would’ve given heaven too much power, and Lucifer could’ve reconciled with his brothers, and then they would have no longer cared about Chuck’s approval.
That specific universe made no sense to Chuck, because of the choices they all made. Sam and Dean always choosing each other, Cas choosing the boys, and all of them ultimately going against fate. Going against Chuck. He even says so when Dean barges in and, and Chuck says “I didn’t write this!?!?”
Crowley was given red smoke for being the king of hell, as well as a crossroads demon. It was just a dumb vfx decision by the show, so we’d know who the demon smoke belonged to. They should’ve given all the demons different smoke, but then Lilith and Alastair would’ve had white smoke, like angel grace. Would’ve been too confusing.

    1) The princes being fallen angels is not a "fan theory" it is a fact, they are fallen Arc Angels. They get their power straight from hell's energy (infinite battery) but their energy was also fed into hell which creates other demons. This is why they have complete control of other lesser demons and can destroy them on a whim. The names are those of the fallen Arc Angels.
    2) Nephilim aren't all the same, Jack is the son of Lucifer so he has King of hell and Arc Angel powers.
    3) Castiel doesn't need to be actively healing them, angels have a healing aura that speeds up healing so weeks would take hours and months would take a couple days. This and the touch ups would remove scars.
This is covered when Cas accidentally removes runic scars and the demon repelling/trap tattoos.
    4) Chuck isn't "the God". He is the God of Supernatural universe and is a kind of self insert character. They even reference and make fun of this with his earlier appearance as writer for the Supernatural books. Basically Chuck was supposed to be a creator self insert character reference interacting with the boys like Tom Bombadil in the Lord of the Rings. The problem is the writers were shit tier in comparison to JRR Tolkien and had no chance of successfully pulling it off.
    5) God being the villain and being defeated by anyone is just shit tier writing. You can't explain it except with on explanation:
The show had run for 15 seasons and it was a CW show. It was dog shit writing after they lost the plot, as soon as they introduced Angels it was in a downward spiral. By season 13 they were really struggling because they went so far off the rails. It started as a good Monster hunting show and devolved into a fan service for young women, 2 hot brothers start fighting over stupid shit for the sake of drama, then cold shoulder until 1-2 episodes later, then make up after talking about their fee fees for 10 minutes of the shows 23 minute run time, rinse repeat. The actual plot of the show was now background noise and an after thought.
Point is the writers ran off the path and by the time they tried to course correct it was too far gone and they had written themselves into a corner.

    • @TheFuzzician
      @TheFuzzician 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Hard agree on point 5. Chuck even mentions how he is omniscient, so how could he ever lose? Why did he not (after destroying Jack), simply rewrite the Winchesters' memories so they don't know what happened (or think they killed Jack themselves)? Why did he not foresee them going against him, and Sam shooting him with the Equalizer?
If they REALLY needed a big bad villain for S15, the Shadow of the Empty would have been a better choice.

At the time we see the princes, Chuck is not in Heaven, the angels are few in number. Remember they needed Jack to create more angels, or Lucifer. The point is with so many angels dying, and no one around to create more, Heaven was failing. Heaven was weak and so were the remaining few angels. They were not at full power, and I suspect that with Chuck not in Heaven, they were weaker than they were with him there.

I certainly like the theory that Chuck wasn't God at all, and just some pretender, but you're right about other things like the alternate universe stuff really ruining that theory. In this particular case, I'd chock it up to the writers not thinking through the storyline that well. The other theory about Chuck and Amara being the two constituent parts of God actually sounds more likely, and would indeed make a little more sense in terms of his powers not being top of the food chain.
What I'd really love, is if any supernatural type show would fully formulate their entire universe before they come up with any given story so that there would be no plot holes or inconsistencies and if there were any unanswered questions at the end of the show's run, it would only be because the show was cancelled early by the network and they hadn't had time to provide those answers by sprinkling them into the episodes.

They did seem to think out the first five seasons, the lead-up to and prevention of the Apocalypse, pretty damn well. Once they got renewed after that initially planned section, they started going a bit wonky and just throwing things at the wall to see what stuck. Personally, I didn't mind some of 6-8, there is absolute gold in those seasons, but I definitely think Season 8 would have been the perfect thematic wrap up to the show.
Even with all the new ideas, the show had basically been the denizens of Hell and Purgatory causing nuisance on Earth. Having Sam, the one who so struggled with his demon blood, use the King of Hell to slam shut the gates would have bookended the show so perfectly. No more demons running around on Earth. Even Cain and Abaddon would probably have been forced into Hell as part of the spell. And Purgatory is Hell-adjacent, so I headcanon that closing the gates would help diminish the amount of things that could get out of there too.
Would have left Earth in a nice place where the hunters now just need to kill off the remaining monsters left on Earth. Sam's death would have had immense meaning and have made up for any role he played in starting the Apocalypse. Dean gets to go off and live the happy apple pie life he wanted to live. Cas could have returned to heaven and helped set things right up there without them being shotgunned all over the planet and causing more havoc than the demons were. No risk to the Mark or freeing Amara...
I am really struggling to push through S11. Completing the trials was such a great potential endpoint. And Sam was already right there. Dean just had to let him go this one time. Everything that came after was at least partially Dean's fault. A lot of it directly so.

@@tyrannicpuppy True, the first 5 were just about perfect. It was just the later seasons that kept having plot holes and retcons. I suppose if you're of the mind that you can have too much of a good thing, then ending it around then would've been a great ending. Although, I did mean if they were to carry it on for as long as the network allowed, thinking through the entire lore ahead of time would be the optimal way. Kind of like how cop shows don't have to think through the rules of their world when writing because the rules have already been decided for them. If the same were true for a fantasy world, where all the conceivable rules were laid out, then they'd only have to consider the history of the characters.

I don't think supernatural was this highly elaborated by any means. You can tell when they started to not have new ideas, so people change roles with each other to keep milking the cow.

You know you overlooked something there
    Healing the boys
Cass yes could heal them off screen
    But what about Meg?
    Crowley?
Crowley healed Bobby from paralysis and demons can keep hosts alive after terrible injuries
    Also, Death
He restored Bobby’s wife to life and she was cremated
    Something to think about

How did Crowley ask for a few more inches in the 1600's to "Hit double digits" when the imperial system was invented in the 1800's?

The princes of hell theory does sound promising though. I personally think of them as the Hell's version of Archangel. As for them being nephilim i doubt that. To be nephilim they have to be angel-human hibrid which would imply that Lucifer was cast down way later than Adam and Eve story. However they could be supporters of Lucifer from heaven who were also cast down with him and probably the fall corrupted them
Also about the injuries i believe in one of the later seasons it was confirmed that Destiny was the one looking out for the boys, healing their injuries, keeping their bodies together and protecting them even from bad food. Once Destiny stopped protecting them, they started experiencing all sorts of everyday struggles

That show should have ended season 5. Everything after was ridiculous and horrific.

S6-8 had some ok ideas too with a lot of jumping the shark. And I truly believe allowing Sam to complete the trials and seal Hell would have been a perfect thematic ending. But everything after Dean busted in and convinced Sam to drop the trials was utter chaos. Would have redeemed Sam's tainted demon blood and his role in starting the Apocalypse big time. But the show definitely did some weird shit after the initial Apocalypse plan. S11 is so rough I've only made it two episodes down so far after binging everything up to that point. I actively look for other things to watch instead of finishing it up.

Much of the writing was taken from 13th-century literature. If you want to do a deep dive, check out the Lesser Keys of Solomon.

Chuck was starting to give villain-vibes from the moment he started appearing regularly. Or earlier, if you count history. If you look at what Gabriel said. The things I hated about the final season probably had to do a little with filming during 2020. Namely, I was not sold on why Amara decided to let herself be absorbed. I was pretty irritated with the slaughter of several people in order to write them out of the story. I was really annoyed that we don't know who is the mother of Dean Winchester II.

I grew up jumping off a rope swing, falling from the tops of trees and a lot more. I can take a lot more punishment than a the people that didn't grow up in a physical life style. The boys grew up in an environment 10 times what I grew up in and the human body adjusts to what is need while growing, I've always just attributed their toughness to their way of life.

Plus, Sam is a moose. And they can really take a wholloping and keep on going. Now add in moose trained in physical activity and is it any wonder he's such a beast of a hunter?

I have a small question when you covered the Pagan Gods we never found out where they go when they die.
They were made by God, they're not Eve's kids, they don't go to hell or haven and they seem to have souls as they don't go to the empty. So where do you think they go?
    Love to know your theories.

    • @raydacted8944

Maybe Purgatory, I mean Leviathans weren't made by Eve but when dead, they go back to Purgatory despite their lack of souls. The Pagans in the show were more monstrous than their real-life counterparts, so it'll suggests that Pagan Gods would go in Purgatory if they die.
      Just my theory though

Your right about the Leviathans the thing that can get in the way is that they're related to Eve so I'm still stuck. God made the Pagans so if he made Eve maybe.
I don't know I just have a hard time believing GODS go to the same place as Ghouls.
But thanks it is a good theory.

@@patrickrhodes4679 My other theory is a bit dumb.
Maybe, unlike humans, Pagans' souls will simply not exist when killed. Like, it vanished in the time of their death. Or rather Empty but The Shadow had just been sleeping for a long time that it thought only angels and demons were there, but actually Pagans, too. I mean, most Pagans were only killed where Sam and Dean became hunters, and at that time The Shadow is still in its nap.
      I know, dumb theory.
