hi everyone! just wanted to say here that i see and hear your concerns about the ethics of me travelling to Hawai'i with my roommates. first of all, for those who have, thank you for letting me know and for holding me accountable in a way where i can learn and do better. we tried our best to support local businesses and to keep environmental concerns in mind when possible, but i understand that travelling to Hawai'i itself has ethical implications, especially when it impacts Indigenous Hawaiians negatively. i'm going to keep this video up (partly for accountability, and partly because it still holds fond memories), but all the monetary ad revenue will be donated to Hawai'i' People's Fund, which I have donated to in the past and supports grassroots organizations in the islands. you can learn more about the organization here, and consider donating as well: hawaiipeoplesfund.org/who-we-are/ (i'll post a receipt on my community tab after about a month).
i'm not perfect, but again, thank you guys for letting me know and giving me room to grow. always here to listen & continue learning. - Deborah

Hi dobo can you give me suggetions for lofi music that you put for background music
What's the music background at 0:00 - 1:21♡?
Omg I’m thinking of going to Hawaii in august so this is perfect! Thank you for the amazing vlog as always 🥹❤️
Native hawaians have been talking about tourism being harmful to their land, economy and to their people, if you could, please choose another place to visit on vacation, if not, please educate yourself on how you can be less harmful on your visit, on their culture, respect their sacred places and customs and spend money on local commerces, most importantly, listen to their voices and what they are telling us
omg I didn’t know about this. Thank you for letting me know! I’m going there because the Pokémon championship will be held there so it really makes me wonder why they would chose Hawaii if native Hawaians don’t want tourists there.. that’s disappointing on the Pokémon company :(
pls drop the itinerary hehe
oh!….
❤ :)

Please pin me soooo cute ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
not sure if you’re aware, but native hawaiians have been urging folks not to go to hawaii because tourism has ravaged their islands and caused a huge housing crisis. i do like your content, but it is disappointing that this destination wasn’t chosen a little more mindfully.
That’s not what the issue is in Hawaii, the issue isn’t really tourism, itself, it’s gentrification AKA when people choose to move there and that makes the housing go up and completely unaffordable for locals. Tourism is pretty much essential and keeping us alive, the problem is not people wanting to visit, it is people deciding to stay in a land that doesn’t belong to them.
@@salteey3534 it isn’t untrue to say that a big chunk of the gentrification comes from the resorts, condos, hotels, etc that are built on native land and the demand for which is supplied by tourists. tourism is only seen as “essential” now because so much has been taken away from indigenous hawaiians already, forcing the economy to depend on an industry that is ultimately harming the islands.
@@echopilled yes I agree with you it’s because of the system it was built in but stopping people from visiting is not the solution, if anything we should be protesting for guidelines to how much of the land can be touristic and how much of it rightfully should be only managed by the native people of Hawaii so it doesn’t keep displacing more people but can still keep the economy going.
@@salteey3534while i do see your point, many of the folks i see asking people stop visiting are indigenous hawaiians. they are not asking for protests or limits, they are asking people to coming period. it is not up to me, nor anyone who is not indigenous to the islands to dictate what the best way to liberate their land is. if they decide that they people to stop visiting, then that is something i will stand beside them on.
@@echopilled I see your point but what I’m saying is coming from my experience living in a land where we are suffering from many of the same issues and experiences (Puerto Vallarta) and all I’m doing is sharing my opinion having been affected by those phenomenons, I don’t think it’s outrageous to speak on something you’ve dealt with just because it’s happening elsewhere, in the end the issue is the same at its root.
I love your content but I'm afraid this video may encourage more people to go visit hawaii and serve as an advertisement for tourists to visit, specially if they don't read the comments but see the title, video and description, as hawaiian people have said over and over again, tourism is harming their land, economy and people as well as their sacred places and practices because it's seen as a place for white and foreign people's comfort and not a place to respect and appreciate, and this video furthers out that concept, please listen to indigenous hawaiian voices and do research before visiting any place in the future and if possible change the title or description to spread awareness of this issue, overall prevent it from being the advertisement it is right now
Please don’t use an excuse of a stereotyping “white foreign people” to prevent people from coming to Hawaii. There any many respectful people who actually contributes positively to the economy.
Hawaiian natives have literally begged yall to stop vacationing there and yall don’t listen..
Who cares Karen
This video is treasure for my eyes and peace !
