Thank you for taking an interest in the 3M product range. The videos on TH-cam are not designed as training videos for installations or cable preparation. They are to show the installation of the 3M cold shrink product. In this case the XLPE insulation was stripped and all semi-conductive material was removed.
This is an 11kV installation. Some installers would class this as Medium voltage and others would class it as High voltage, this is influenced by what voltage / network / accessory they are used to working on.
You maybe referring to a mark on the cable which would be removed under normal circumstances with a cable cleaning wipe. This stage is detailed in the jointing instruction provided with each kit. As previously mentioned this is not a training video for cable preparation. With regards to the folding back of the braid, this is something that some jointers do and some jointers don't do.
Is there a load break elbow installation kit available for this style of cable?Everything I've seen for this style of cable is either a indoor or outdoor style termination.
There is no reason during an installation why there should be an excessive mechanical load (tension) applied to the braid. This method has been used by 3M for over 30 years now and no failures have occurred due to the loss of an earth on the termination due to it losing connection in this manner. If you would like any more information regarding the 3M product range please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks.
Hi I am from India and I use 3 m jointing kits and end termination kits but those kits are different from your demonstration kits how can I understand those kits are from original 3 m Can you please help me
That wasn't a proper installation. Since you missed to remove the remains of the semicon on the insulating layer, furthermore your installation method with the groundbrade WILL FAIL incase of applying force on the brade end. It needs to be installed in the direction of the connector and afterwards folded back ... This video has to be redone !
All course training must provide certificate and license in all contractors in its job site Project......all companies

Hi Rashid someone from our electrical division will be in touch with you shortly.
Thanks :)
could this termination kit allow for each of the three phases end up at different lengths? For terminating in a switch gear

Cool, that almost doesn't seem over engineered at all 😅

Where are the remains of the semi-con that you're talking about? Are you saying the inch or so of SC at 3:00 needs to be removed?
