This is certainly better than the cutesy Gimme Chocolate (that was good, but this is great!) but that's just my opinion.

Rob Zombie famously posted a photo of him and Babymetal on a social media site and he got some flack from his own fans how they aren't real metal. And he told his own fans things like:
"These girls have more energy than 90 of the bands we play with." "they roll harder than you" "they are nice kids out on the tour touring. What are you doing besides being a grumpy old fuck?" 🙂

These 3 girls are anti bullying personified.... They got hate for being a gimmick, ppl thought they weren't a real metal band, a joke, etc.... But these girls went up on a stage, and put on a performance that won the hearts of thousands.... And legends like Rob Zombie defended them, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bring Me The Horizon, Metallica, toured or performed with them.... They definitely earned their metal credentials. If you want to see the band a bit more, checkout Rondo of Nightmare with Metal Gods intro, the Kamiband does an amazing intro before the song. Have fun exploring Babymetal, it's a hell of a fun ride.😁🤘🦊🤘

The musicians are named "Kami Band". "Kami" means god in Japanese, and these guys are like gods of music or gods of their instruments. They are Japan's best musicians. They are wearing burial gowns and corpse face paint because in the BABYMETAL lore/fantasy, the "Fox God" raises the musicians from the dead and calls upon them to play the music for the girls for each concert. The 3 girls have been chosen by the "Fox God" to unite the world through metal. 🤘🦊🤘

Kami is also hair and paper. But they are written differently in Japanese. There was a Babymetal cover band that used the Kanji for Hair instead of God for their Kami Band. Hair band.

    Excellent reaction, thanks!
The information they gave you is completely correct. Most of those people in the crowd had no clue what BABYMETAL was. And the fact they end up begging for more is priceless. They also sold more merch than any other band that weekend (including Iron Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax, Dream Theater, Slayer...). This is what I call an epic win.
The Kami Band wear traditional burial robes and face paint, depicting Japanese gods or spirits. They are supposed to be the gods of each instrument. In 2019 they changed to darker robes and began to wear masks.
"Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (translated roughly by "No more bullying forever" is actually their second song if we attend to the live performances. It premiered live in July 2011. But they released it officially way later (January 2013) probably because it's straight power metal. And, you know wat? They just closed their concerts this weekend with this song.
If you have the opportunity (and the money) to see them live, don't even hesitate.
I second the suggestion for "Road of Resistance" (Live in Japan) from January 2015.

Excellent choice for your 2nd reaction! This is an iconic performance, and "legitimized" Babymetal on the world stage outside of Japan. This show (July 2014) took place ~7 months after the Gimme Chocolate video (Legend 1997, Dec 2013). During the 5 song encore of Legend 1997, the Kami Band came on stage to replace the Babybones pretend band, and from then on, Kami Band played with Babymetal live for pretty much all their shows.
Their white face paint and white robes are traditional Japanese corpse paint, representing "spirits" of sorts. In the lore, they are "Gods" of guitars, bass and drums sent by the Fox God to aid Babymetal in their mission to revitalize metal music by mixing J-Pop and Metal. While members do switch out, their core members has remained very stable over the years.
Also, not sure if you were aware, but Babymetal just released a new track a few days ago, called "Metali", in collaboration with Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. It's an absolute banger!!

They were considered gimmicks especially in Japan, but after word got out that BABYMETAL was a huge hit @ Sonisphere (2015), many of these doubters took a second look and was then hooked. So in Japan they are sometimes called "Reverse imported band". A killer live performance was in January the following year @ Saitama Super Arena = 20,000 people at a sold out event. As some suggest, you should definitely watch their last song at that venue which is "Road of Resistance" - Live in Japan. The main theme of the song is = "If you have a passion and goal, don't let anything get in your way. If there is no path, create your own". thus their anthem! Please take note of Su (lead singer) near the end shout in Japanese "Kakatte koi ya---!" which in English means, "Bring it on". these words are not on the original lyrics sheet.

Great reaction again !!!! You touched on something very important about BM. The man behind the legend, Koba-Metal, engaged the services of perhaps Japan's top choreographer Mikiko Mizuno. She is behind the dance routines and the theatrical presence of BM. Every routine is a story based on the song that is written. You will see this more as you start getting to videos with English subtitles. And as far as the Kami Band goes, they are the cream of the crop of Japanese musicians. They have always had a sterling reputation, but when BM really took off they pretty much became the house band gained a much wider exposure globally. I believe the drummer for this concert is Hideki Aoyama, one of the real greats in the business. The bassist, Boh, is truly one of the best I have ever seen and his stage presence is a gift. I have never seen him use a pick while performing and his use of a six-string bass is masterful. You saw how the crowd reacted to BM at the end IDZ. This performance from 2014 was their coming-out party before a Western audience, and one of the toughest audiences you will ever find. It set up their invitation to 2016's Download Festival, which was a real feather in their cap. I believe they also played Wembley Stadium that year. One of their classic songs is "Karate", a song about fighting and slaying your own personal demons. Their performance of Karate at 2016 Download is possibly their best, except for the one at the 2021 10 days of Budokan concerts celebrating their tenth year. At Download 2016 you can see the respect and admiration of the crowd for BM. And as a treat, by that time Su had learned excellent conversational English so she could speak to the crowds, which endeared her to a lot of fans. If you decide to do Karate, I would suggest a double reaction. First do the official music video of Karate, which I believe is their best music video, then the live performance at Download 2016. As legendary Hall of Fame baseball player Ernie Banks used to say, it's a beautiful day, let's play two, lol.

And when you watch interviews of the ladies, you can see that they are no gimmick and care deeply about what they do and about their fans. They made an ode to their fans named "The One" and you need to react to the official live video of it. And this is a fantastic characteristic of most Japanese groups, their devotion to their fans. We can get into that further when you react to Band Maid's first blockbuster TH-cam video, the official music video for Thrill. It's a keeper and the start of yet another Japanese female band taking the planet by storm.

Thanks again for a thoughtful and compassionate reaction. I appreciate your eye for details. Loved the Alice Cooper reference.
You set out to explore Babymetal in detail. I wish you smooth sailing. It's bound to be fun. As you progress, you could use their published albums as a timeline and guidance.
    2014 Babymetal
Published in the same year as the Sonisphere concert, their debut ontains a number of songs that are still popular with the fans and performed to date on a regular basis: Babymetal Death (default set opener), Megitsune, Gimme chocolate!, Headbangeeeeer!!! and Road to Resistance as a live version bonus track. This song nowadays often is the last song in a set.
    2016 Metal Resistance
Contains the album version of Road to Resistance. My personal favourite is Karate, a song about fighting on even if you already took some hits. Contrary to normal Babymetal wisdom I would encourage you to not watch a live performance but the official music video, as the visuals created there are quite stunning. Before they worked out the dance moves, they watched a number of martial arts movies together with their choreographer.
    2019 Metal Galaxy
Contains a number of songs that incorporate other regional music styles and some guest apearances by other artists like Tim Henson from Polyphia and Joakim Broden from Sabaton. I already told you in the comments of your last video that I absolutely adore Kagarou, with regard to both music and choreography. Yet the most popular song from that album is without doubt Pa Pa Ya!, a song about Papaya salad done in cooperation with Thai rapper F.Hero. The crowd goes totally berserk, and reportedly also the girls themselves love to perform this song. There are YT shorts out there showing Su close up dancing during the rap part, wearing a big smile all across her face and whirling around with abandon, so this might be true. I would assume that this song is almost certain to be played at any concert this year.
    2023 The Other One
Published earlier this year before they hit the road again after a two year hiatus. While some fans have complained about a lack of metal, there are songs (and the choreos that go with them) that have become quite popular during the ongoing tour. Maya, Mirror Mirror and Metalizm would be among those, the latter having a strong middel eastern vibe. Very popular is Monochrome, especially a stripped down piano version done for the YT channel The First Take. I can't argue against that, but would nevertheless consider watching a live performance, my personal favourite on YT beeing their performance of that song in Glasgow as filmed by TH-camr Tamás Vig.
    2023-08-18: Metali! (feat. Tom Morello)
This new track was published just a few days ago. The music video is totally mindblowing; the girls are on afterburner both vocally and regarding their dance moves. The song is reportedly already included in their current live performances, but to date there is no good live footage out there that I know of.
I'm aware that the US and Europe can differ considerably regarding ticket prices.Tickets for the Cologne concert on Nov 21 this year are 63€ as charged today; this would be roughly the same in $$. I saw them in May when they where supporting Sabaton and loved every minute of it, so grab a ticket if you can.
    Greetings from Germany!

They've done a couple music videos of live performances off their latest album (Metal Kingdom, Mirror Mirror, Metalizm) and also just released a new song/video (Metali). There are also good react safe compilations from their last two Japan arena shows this year that are pretty good for see what Babymetal is now. I guess fate got its ways 🤘🦊🤘

I just got to see them in June (Australia tour) and only paid $110 for a ticket, so i hope there not actually charging $200US! I love them, they got me into Japanese metal and paved the way to my current favourite, Lovebites (well worth checking out).

Unfortunately, the tickets are starting at $200 and it's general admission. Awesome that you got to see them!!

@@tscompendium4602 man, that is harsh! That said, it's worth it! Amazing performance. And I did buy mine as soon as they went on sale, so maybe later tickets cost more. They packed 14 songs into an hour long set. Very efficient!

The real non inside story to the bands make up is... It was while either shooting a video or during one their early shows that BOH raided the choreographer's purse for makeup because he wanted to look cooler but sillyish. He showed the band and the band loved it but the choreographer was pissed and thought it looked stupid. But everyone else loved it so much they all decided to do it as well. The white robes were an impromptu costume from things that were hanging on the rack. There is an obscure video interview floating around with BOH recalling how their costumes came about.

Excellent choice for your second reaction to BM. Ijime, Dame, Zettai (IDZ) is one of BM's great songs.
BM was a personal bet by his producer, Koba-Metal, to attract new fans to the world of metal, constrained by strict rules.
In BM lore the fox god created BM, the three girls (Su, Yui and Moa, the original trio) to revolutionize and rejuvenate the world of metal. To help them in their task, the fox god sent the kami band (kami=god), the gods of guitar, bass and drums (actually several of Japan's best musicians).
At first the girls performed with the babybones, who pretended to play the instruments, because they couldn't afford a real band. The babybones are disguised as skeletons.
The Kami Band is a real band, they wear tunics and makeup pretending to be spirits, they represent the gods of guitar, bass and drums. They perform only in concerts.
The performance at Sonisphere was a turning point for BM and the beginning of its expansion into the Western world.
BM's songs are metal and fun. His lyrics are always positive, of perseverance and improvement, usually.
BM fans always recommend live versions, but there are two wonderful videos, IMHO.
    1) BABYMETAL - メギツネ - MEGITSUNE (OFFICIAL) cK3NMZAUKGw
    2) BABYMETAL - KARATE (OFFICIAL) GvD3CHA48pA
Great live performances (in the order you prefer):
    1) BabyMetal Legend of 1997 Headbanger QEsOaMbNFww
    2) BABYMETALDEATH (you can choose one of the following two links):
2.1) BABYMETAL DEATH | Legend 1997 jRc9dbgiBPI (without english subtitles)
2.2) DEATH - LIVE - LEGEND 1997 APOCALYPSE s0KPp23hmxQ (has English subtitles, the song ends in 7'37'')
    4) BABYMETAL - AKATSUKI「紅月アカツキ」BLACK NIGHT HD1080p g2372C5PJLM
    5) BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) zTEYUFgLveY
And this only in its early years.
It has been a pleasure to see and hear you. Greetings.

Thank you very much for taking time to check out the reaction, and this information. I've had a few requests for Road of Resistance, probably will be the next one. Have a Blessed Day!

Road to Resistance... Great choice. When you watch the performance, remember: BM communion with their fans is total, when Su-Metal shouts "We are...", the fans respond "...Babymetal". It means that everyone, the girls, the Kami Band and the fans, all together are Babymetal. And when Su yells "Kitsune up", the fans respond by making the sign of the fox god. @@tscompendium4602

To say "ijime dame zettai" its pronounced like "ee-gee-meh dah-meh zeh-tye" with a little pause between the "zeh" and "tye"

The band make-up is supposed to represent japanese spirits.
