  • This 1920s Classic Period Craftsman Home is a "must see" for anyone who is dreaming of the perfect kitchen for their home. With a brilliantly creative and simple space plan transformation, this remodel added a cantilever addition and 40 Square Ft to the footprint of this Kitchen.
This remodel shows how a home of this vintage and size can be transformed to the homeowners liking, while keeping key periodic elements and its original architectural details.

Good design is when you can actually envision that current plan as being part of the original. Charming.

There's no doubt this is beautiful! I just closed on a 1920 Craftsman in Cleveland, OH that the previous owner honored so much of the famous wood trim throughout that made the Craftsman home so popular. Unfortunately the previous owners updated the Kitchen in 1980 and so now I have a very ugly 1980' Kitchen. They did a cantilever type of addition to the kitchen to add on a Breakfast nook and I'm VERY pleased they did such a great job! Sadly, I would LOVE to have a Kitchen that is more reminiscent of the 1920's than the 1980's, but since I am aware of the CRAZY costs to update homes and that is without having a "designer" involved, there is not even a chance I'd be able to afford to let a professional do it! I'll dig into it myself one day. Enjoyed the video!

They need trees between the houses! And yes, that big refrigerator is an eyesore!

I hope I can find a home like this and bump open the kitchen. Keeping the cabinets as much as possible.

Love this work. It blends in so well. It looks like it was made that way. It's great to see someone respect the architectural philosophy of the home.

Gorgeous. The only thing I don't like are those hideous stainless steel appliances. I hate those things with a passion. I would've gotten some retro looking ones, but that's just me. I know some people like them.

Canter leaver fail . Stem wall footing would have been better for longevity and thermal efficiency.

I hate it. I’m not opposed to modernizing the kitchen, as long as the design looks like it is of the period, but imposing the current trend of open concept design on these beautiful houses is unforgivable. The fact that you can see all the way to the back wall of the house, and that you see a giant refrigerator, stove, and dirty dishes in the sink as soon as you walk in the front door is the ruination of what originally was a charming and thoughtfully designed house. If the smaller floor plans of older homes aren’t suitable, then don’t buy one.
