I'm honestly pretty sad omega dropped the sounds from 2048, as I felt they added a bit more character to each team. At any rate, this was cool, I didn't realize how different each game sounded since I always had bgm cranked.
The first wipeout game was planned to have car/pod racer like engine sounds, but was substituted for high pitched turbine whine and wind sounds to not overwhelm the soundtrack, sine at the time the soundtrack was such a big part of the game.
I always blast the music over the sfx but I love those sounds. I liked 2048's the most because it sounds a bit more like a regular explosion engine and I was pissed that the remake remove them, haha.
Totally forgot how cool the ships were in WipeOut Fusion. Sure wish we could get a new WipeOut, except have some ship customization options the next time. Redout 2 is great, still not as good as WipeOut imo.
@@j.w.techchannel Yeah it sounded like it was going through an infinite number of gears if you maintained your speed. Thought it was rushed programming or limitations of the Vita.
This is just me trying to make sense in nonsense. 2048 ships may use some form of a fictional jet engine and shifting gear similar to CVT, or continuously variable transmission. I think, to accelerate fast from the starting position, they may use something traditional first (manual/automatic transitransmission), then switches to CVT as you start hearing that gear shifting period gets longer. Sudden infinite gear shifting from high-pitched sound to low-pitched may mean that the engine suddenly shifts the gear to the "middle" or "low" (CVT belt quickly changes its position) to keep the speed requirements (FX races have speed limits), and use its fuel more efficiently, and whenever you need to accelerate on a speed pad. In Omega Collection, engine sounds are closer to real life ones in this regard, maybe only using some kind of a fictional jet/turbo engine and CVT.
I always hated how they added that "chugging " reciprocating engine sound to the games past HD. Doesn't sound high speed at all. I like the high rpm spinning sound of earlier games better. Sounds like they went for a podracer sound instead of a jet like thrust sound.
I always loved 2048’s car-like sounds.
I also love the detail where when changing gears the screen shakes a bit
Fr, Feisar's craft sounds kinda like an F1 race car to me. It's sick as hell
The 3rd person AI in Omega all have distinct engine sounds as well as a quick note, they’re like spinoffs of the OG 2048 sounds
Never realized how different the Wipeout 3 sound was.
I've always loved how 2048's and Omega Collection's vehicles sound like Star Wars speeders.

Randomly saw this and it made me smile immediately
Very interesting video, I watched it all. I still have to say that the Omega Collection has the most realistic and impactful sounds
The first time I heard 2048's Auricom, I was in love, sounds like such a beast especially paired with the prototype ship!

100% this, I really wish they kept the original sounds :c
I SO FOND YOUR FLODIN' CARS CONCEPTIONS !!!!🎉

Such interesting stuff to discover that I never realized was going on. Will there be an "Evolution of Weapons and Power-Ups" sequel?
I could make a video about the weapons... But HellfireWZ already made one over 10 years ago, and it's very good.
Is it me or does 2048 just loop over and over again?
I think the 2048 ships are supposed to have an automatic gearbox.. not sure though

Never understood why they didn't use sounds like an F1 Car
Still, huge love for these futuristic sounds

i'll play Omega Collection again tomorrow
