Teacher Bor, this Interpretation of Forlorn Hope goes in my perception beyond Early Music trends, and conveys crystal clear polyphonic textures. It opened to me a whole different window to John Dowland as well as Elizabethan repertoire. Last but not least, I found a Forlorn Hope. Immensely grateful!

Perhaps Dowland's greatest masterpiece! Amazing chromaticism, with dark, intense emotion sustained throughout. Seems to anticipate some of Bach's abstract compositions in the Well tempered clavier and The Art of the Fugue.

Very well played. The fact that you can hear trhe descending chromaatic line, which I think is one of the most terrifying sounding motifs in music, is somerhing very few players can bring out and you do it with such feeling and passion. Keep up the good work This shows why lute pieces should be played on the instrument for which they were conceived.

@@borzuljan7713 I think that the title alone: Forlorne Hope Fancy, is indication enough in itself that this piece requires expressivity and colors: to me, they are the musical equivalent of all the tools that can be used in rhetorics in literature, and your use of them is quite extraordinary, and literally brings the piece to life.

Actually I like this performance a bit better than Bream's, because Bream just blows through the last four lines too fast. He doesn't flub any notes, but to me it seems Bream's rapid pace sacrifices clarity, and this performance gets it it a bit more right.

Lovely playing and it's good to see you're playing a decent-sized lute! Looks like a Venere C36, one of my favourite models. It shows how a string length of about 67cm is no problem to play (as many people fear) and gives great flexibility to the sound.

Some people talked about pain in the right hand, I would say it could be much more a matter of muscles for the left hand due to the wide open positions... And I read like it is a lute with 66,7cm Vendelio Venere? It is also tuned in F isn't it? Some picking patterns where the thumb has to rest stroke from the d string to the g while plucking the g with the forefinger, do seem to cause strain and I dont know if this is avoidable on guitar. ive also found the position to feel less dexterous than something closer to classical guitar right hand technique.

I also tried playing in this position; I think you have to hold the guitar at a different angle and when the body of the guitar is slightly higher than we are normally used to it automatically becomes the most comfortable position.

I agree about pain. I think the issue was always more to do with not isolating passages and adressing tensions/technical deficiences. I would always just play the peice all the way through. I would feel tired and beat up after 15 minutes.
Now I work on each passage in a methodical way, treating them all like individual exercises, using the metronome.
