Nigel North, lute John Dowland (1563-1626) Fancy (5) In nomine Fantasie Forlorne Hope Fancy Boston Guitarfest 2013 Friday, June 21, 2013 Jordan Hall at New England Conservatory
one can always discuss about taste. but nigel is (by many people) considered to be one of the finest players in the world. as long as your own playing isn't considered better than his (by other serious experts) it would be wise to simply shut up. thanks.
0 videos uploaded. You're obviously not one of those "much better" lutenists. I don't even care if you're wrong or right about better ones being out there, at the very least this playing is very far from "bad". I can name other good lutenists, but at their level I wouldn't call one or the other better, they have a different style at most. Rolf Lislevand doesn't really play the notes as written for instance, really good player though whom I respect as much as Nigel. Paul O'Dette is a very "correct" player, in that regard the opposite of Lislevand, but to me on the same level. You're not on the list. I never heard of you.
wonderful.. I love the last fantasia in this set... one of Dowlands best pieces... will play it one day
Well done Nigel, all 5 published sets are great total enjoyed listen to them.
I got chills what a great set to listen to Thank You !
There must have been a herd of baby elephants in the audience. Such rudeness in the face of superb playing.
There are so many much better lutenists out there. Bad.
And who might they be?

@@montecigno I completely agree. Nigel North is one of a handful of great lutenists.
