You do not need to start the car. Just turn the ignition to on.

this is a common mistake : to use OBD reader only needs to turn ignition to "ON" position, not "START" position.

If my car is cranking but not starting, and I want to confirm that its not something besides the fuel pump; will one of these analyzers work if the engine is just cranking or if just the ignition is on? Thanks for any guidance. Turn on ignition - could that mean just the key and not motor running?

Ignition on..car doesnt need to be running/started. I don't know why he started the car
