some people may go slow because they are afraid of mountaim roads no need to scare them more with horn. let people be safe. no need to show off with speed. courtesy & respect go both ways
I agree. I’ve grown over the years and your advice is well received. When I get constructive criticism it’s something that is very beneficial because I actually listen to it it’s when people are being jerks about the criticism that’s when it goes in one ear and out the other so I really appreciate you and I will definitely heed what you were saying
I’m a foreigner and went to running springs last year, roads were very scary. I have fear of height when driving through mountains for some reason. That’s why I go slow when there’s a curve or I follow the recommended speed but it gives me anxiety cause one guy stressed me out behind me because of this. He managed to pass me when we reached a double way road and he pointed his middle finger. All this because I respected the recommended speed. I got that people are locals and know the road as they use the road often but sometimes they have to think that tourists are not familiar with the roads and if we lose control we die so I urge everyone to be patient. Now I can’t go anywhere cause it stresses me out. I want to go to Big Bear but I’m stressed about this. People tend to accumulate behind me. It’s frustrating.
Gypsy my friend I want you to know that I agree with you 100% and in a lot of my videos I talk about the best way to stay safe when you're driving up the mountains and you're not the only one afraid of driving on these mountain roads a lot of people are. So as you'll notice when you're driving up the mountain there are signs all up and down the road that say slower traffic use turnouts. But unfortunately a lot of people are not considerate of the people who are actually going the speed limit and who want to get to where they wanna go without fear and it's a two-way street basically so I suggest to my viewers if somebody comes up on their tail being very rude like that never ever speed up to try and make them happy because I'm sure you're a nice person and you don't wanna be inconsiderate of other people either so never ever speed up to make the people behind you happy just turn out at the next turn out and let them pass and if you have to do that numerous times and that's OK you'll be safe but where people get into trouble is the nice people don't want to hold people up so they'll end up speeding up and that's what cause the accidents because they don't know the roads to well. .And I don't want anything to happen to any of you guys I want you guys to have a good time and come up here and feel comfortable but that's why I always suggest people follow the signs that are posted for a reason. But you do get a lot of people who just don't care about the signs and then they wonder why people behind them were getting really upset and then they blame other people because they don't know how to read or they don't want to follow the rules of the road so that's why I always suggest that instead of speeding up because you're probably a nice person like that who doesn't wanna hold people up instead of speeding up just pull off at the next turn out and let those impatient people pass just so you don't have to be concerned about stuff like that and there are plenty of turnouts driving up and down plenty. So if you can remember to do that as well as remember that there are signs all up and down the road that say slower traffic use turnouts, then I promise you you will feel much more comfortable coming up I don't want you to stress out and you're right there are a bunch of jerks who drive up and down these mountain roads really really fast but it does get frustrating when you've passed five or six turnouts and the person in front of you doesn't use any of them and they're holding up all the traffic and that person who's going really slow will blame everybody else for being mad at them without being aware of themselves in anyway and it's pretty sad because we get that all the time but as I said just make sure you use the turnouts if somebody is on your tail it's not a race to get up here it's really not but some people are more comfortable than others on this roads which is why there are signs everywhere telling to slow people to pull over and let other people pass but unfortunately people just don't follow those signs very often and it creates problems. They wouldn't have those signs just for looks they're there for a reason. And regarding the fear of heights I completely feel you there as a kid when we would drive up to the mountains I was always so scared in the car and my aunt still doesn't like driving up here and she won't drive herself up here because she's terrified of the mountain roads because of the heights so just know you're not alone there that's a big problem for a lot of people but as I said one thing that will make it easier for you is since you're a very considerate person I can tell just follow the signs and if somebody is tailgating you which they should not do and that is so frustrating and scary sometimes but if they're tailgating you there's plenty of areas to pull off and let them pass. So go ahead and let them pass and then get back on the road and keep on driving safely I told my mom to do that and every time she drives up she hast to pull over maybe six or seven times because of so many impatient people but that's OK because she's not stressing out about it as much and she knows that she can get out of these people's way no problem it's when the slow traffic thinks they on the road and don't care about anybody else on the road and they hold up all the traffic that's when people get really upset and I don't think people should get upset about things like that but it happens and unfortunately there's a lot of people who live in their own world and nobody else exists. So as I said for you to feel more comfortable because I'd love for you to come up here and enjoy yourself just make sure you use the turnouts when there are people driving like jerks and being very impatient behind you I promise you it'll make you feel much better and as I said in the beginning please by no means should you ever speed up just to acquiesce these people they can wait till you get to the next turn out and then when you get to the turn out make sure you turn out and let them pass you and then get back on the road but that's my best suggestion to you my friend and I'm sorry you've been through this most people I know have been through the same thing so don't feel like you're alone there.
Hey man I felt the exact same way about big bear. Just be careful and if you feel you’re driving too slow just pull over on the turn outs like the guy above said. His problem though is he’s the guy who doesn’t care if he hits you or crashes and will tail gate you which shows he’s actually the selfish person not the tourists who are trying to get out of there alive.
Hey how’s it going thank you for leaving that comment I appreciate it. I know sometimes I can drive a little bit fast and I know there’s no excuse for that even though I know these roads like the back of my hand I can’t stress enough that I shouldn’t drive that fast sometimes and when it’s a really long drive sometimes I get frustrated and then I drive faster to get around people and stuff like that and I know that’s so unsafe but thank you for being cool and I don’t know if you just saw the most recent video I posted yesterday driving up Highway 38 but it sounds like you did because I was complaining a whole bunch yesterday about people driving slow and not pulling over I don’t mind if people drive slow of course not I don’t want them to feel unsafe driving on these mountain roads which can be quite intimidating I just wish they would be a little more considerate of other people and it’s not like it’s a stressful thing to constantly pull over it’s really easy they make plenty of little pull outs because they know that some people are going to drive very slow hence they created all the different little pull outs. Hope you’re having a great day
Tamara Garrett You know what I prefer Dale Earnhardt. There is certainly no rush and I know it’s a little bit dangerous sometimes but these mountain roads are made for having fun like that. I know I’m being selfish because I’m putting people at risk sometimes
I find the best time to go up is at night if you're afraid of going fast. At night no one is on the road. Or if someone does come up behind you, just turn your right signal on, and go to the right a bit for them to pass. It doesn't need to be a full turn out, just a place where you can fit maybe half your car into, and let the other pass. In the day I wouldn't do that, as there are a ton of people. But at night, sure. It's 1 person.
I’m right there with you and because majority of the people who actually come up here on a very rare basis are very afraid. I just always tell them to turn out at the easiest next turn out that they can and continue doing that not annoy other drivers who are trying to get up there faster. But yeah, a lot of the people who have a fear of driving these mountain roads definitely don’t want to be driving in the middle of the night but as far as that’s concerned, I agree with you completely that’s the best easiest time to drive up these mountain roads, but again people who already have a fear of driving the mountain roads at night is not something that’s gonna be their cup of tea. I only know that because 1 million people have told me that they’re so scared to drive up and they don’t want to drive at night. As long as they do listen to the advice that we give them and pull over whenever somebody is on their tail, then that’s great but I don’t suggest people try to squeeze into a small little outlet if you’re nervous just wait till you get to the main turnouts unless you’ve been driving these mountain roads and you’re comfortable then yeah any chance you see where you can pull over and let somebody by the definitely do thatbut I suggest everyone take the proper turnout if you have fear of driving up
Ice Slow27 I always wanted to live right at the bottom of the mountain when I was growing up because then it would only be a very short drive to the snow I hope your family is doing well my friend
Shilo. This was back when I didn’t keep back from saying certain things and I just said what was ever on my mind without being respectful of anything because I didn’t really think anybody would watch the channel but now that people do of course I’m very respectful anyway that road takes you to another beautiful mountain town in this area called I think it’s called Forest Falls I know the next town up if you don’t turn right on that road if you keep going straight the next town is called Angeles Oaks but if you take that right hand turn what you are suggesting it’s one of the most beautiful parts of the mountain range
You were coming up on someone really quick where there wasn’t a turnout which made the person speed to get to the closest turnout!!!! I tell you what buddy, if I’m on that mountain and you do that to me I’m going to go even slower and put my flashers on because you are not going to scare the shit out of me. This is actually a good way to come up it's the way I send my mom if she's driving up when there's no chance for me to come down and get her. I agree with you 100% it's a little bit longer it takes about 6 to 10 more miles of driving and it hits the highest elevation in the San Bernardino national Forest in terms of highways at 8443 feet however still I believe it's the safest so if you were a little bit nervous about these mountain roads or you have family members or friends who Get a bit nervous driving on these roads then yes Highway 38 I believe is the best way.
Those stupid people are at least obeying the speed limit 🤔 lol I would just stay in front of you and make you go around 😂 Slower traffic move over if you're going slower than the speed.
2015 of May i had my knees worked on How then from that year to 2022: I broke my right foot trying to get home I did a number on my right foot Now we have snow drifts they kind of makes it pretty hard to get out in your out of your apartment when all the snow drifts against your front door they did a lousy job in cleaning it up over here I could have done a better job myself and I'm from Big Bear Lake California but that's besides the point they've tried and they failed and I broke my foot well place is over here in my complex area Jiminy Christmas ⛄🎄❤️ But i made it i love my hometown Big Bear 🐻 Lake California 👍❤️👍😆👍👍❤️👍
Justin I agree with you hundred percent bro that’s what I try to tell everybody if they’re really to panicked to drive up the front just drive through the Cajon pass I’m coming to Big Bear on Highway 18 on the back you are very correct my friend and I apologize it took so long to get back to you usually it takes me just a few minutes
Hans Petros so 18 takes you on top of whole range. 38 is a longer route but a bit safer I think. That route takes you from Mentone and Redlands up to Big Bear but is known to be longer. Yes it’s safer and less turns and less chance to fall thousands of feet down. When you’re driving up here the fastest way from the front side is taking Highway 330 up to Highway 18 and boom. For the safest way I like to take Highway 38 it might take you 20 minutes longer but I believe it’s safer and for the fastest way up the mountain take Highway 18 from Lucerne Valley literally once you hit the bottom of the mountain it’ll only take you 11 1/2 minutes to make it to Bear Valley. If you don’t believe me I have plenty of TH-cam videos that you can see from Lucerne Valley it takes me 15 minutes or less to get up to Big Bear if you have any other questions let me know please forgive me for responding so late
we have a trip here but my dad’s co worker is scaring him from going there he says its bad for people with high blood pressure and that the road is scary wtf?
Dang. I’m sorry to hear that. Listen. My mom has hypertension lives in Newport area and she says sometimes she also has a tough time breathing but it goes away it seems. She stays for days at a time. Higher latitude is tougher to breathe. Just be careful. We want you to have fun. Not the opposite. And the roads are not as scary as people think this time of year when we have ice and snow that’s when it is much scarier but there is a longer route about six or 7 miles further and distance for your drive it’s called going up the back way on the front side I believe LOL Highway 38. Highway 38 is the road I send my mom because she gets nervous driving up my aunt won’t drive up that’s how scared she is. But Highway 38 is a little longer but in my eyes it’s safer and less Scary drop offs. The roads are pretty safe think about it we depend on tourism if everyone dies getting up here we’re not gonna have any tourists so we do the best we can and San Bernardino county to make sure that there are barriers and the roads are very well-maintained because we do get rock slides and so they’re always working on that but right now I think they might be doing a little roadwork so you guys would be going slow anyway possibly just be safe and I hope you guys have a great time but check it out about high altitude and breathing
@@christophergonzales4535 hi there my bro. The best safest way for you would be to take highway 18 from Lucerne Valley. However depending on when you come, if no new snow, take highway 138 to Crestline from the 15 freeway in the Cajon Pass. It’s a spectacularly beautiful drive Be safe Christopher my bro and have fun when here

It’s a spectacularly beautiful drive
Be safe Christopher my bro and have fun when here
