There is quote by Martha Graham (American Dancer/Choreographer):- "A dancer dies twice. Once when they stop dancing and the first death is more painful."
Bcz dancing is a dancer's passion nd they spent most of their life mastering the art of dancing. Leaving the art of dancing hurts more than real life death for a dancer.
In a similar way, BTS conveys the message through this song that when they'll stop making music, it'll be like experiencing death for them. Breathing yet dead from inside kinda feeling. They don't want to leave music as it has become the most important part of life. They live because of their passion for music.
This song also shares a few similarities with the 2010 Movie, Black Swan which is about a ballet dancer.

song: its about fear of losing your passion. all of us at least face this once in our life where we started to loss focus towards our passion and for BTS its their music. AN ARTIST DIES THEIR FIRST DEATH WHEN THEY START LOSSING THE PASSION TOWARDS THEIR ART
video: it seems that in the video the pure side [white swan] of theirself is chased by their dark side[black swan] and in the end BTS accepted their dark side as a part or their self
As you already know by now that most of the bts MVs have a really deep meaning behind it along with a lot of references (by “a lot” I MEAN “A LOT”!) so it’s not quite possible to explain in few words.
Each MV has a certain story arc that’s connected with the specific album they’re from so unless you know the whole concept of the album it’ll be difficult to connect the dots. And also there is a separate “BTS storyline” that runs thorough some of their MVs so u need to follow the sequence in those ones to actually understand what’s happening.
In this particular one basically they are saying that for an artist dies twice, first is when he/she stops loving their art or stops doing it altogether and the other time when he/she actually dies... the shadows here kind of represent the psychological shadow I guess (it’s a 2-3 line explanation u can check it on google cuz this comment is already getting too long). So this song is from their album “MAP OF THE SOUL:7”, 2nd album for their MAP OF THE SOUL series (usually each series contains about 3 albums) which is based on psychological concepts by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung’s Map of the soul (also it’s kind of based on the movie “black swan”, at least that’s what i and most of the armys have understood) n check it’s synopsis or watch the movie or simply watch some MV explanation video on TH-cam, they’re pretty good!
Also if u want me to mention the sequence of the MVs for the storyline and other things I can do that as well.

*Actually In Most songs BTS uses Alot of Genius Wordplay, Metaphorical & Double meaning (not in bad way) words, symbols, even autotune in a different way, etc. To Convey their messages or meaning of songs...So U just can't understand The depth of song just by watching it or Reading it's lyrics for once as an overview.*
The lyrics seem very simple if just looked once & one can think they understanding stuff like "Fake luv", Bt Due to Metaphoric or double meaning words used by them in lyrics to convey message, we have to dig deeper Like "Fake Luv" seem simply some "Pyar me dhokha or Pyar Fake chiz h, etc.Type song" if just overview it's lyrics...Bt In Actual It conveys message that "U should be Ur Real self, learn to Luv & accept Ur Real self with All it's faults, mistakes & weakness Only then Others gonna luv ur Real-persona....
U don't need to hide it & Fake ur self Just to Please others or Get luv from society Coz Then the Luv U gonna get will be Fake Luv as well as They luving or liking ur Fake-self & Not Ur real-self, for who U r in actual or how Ur Real-persona is!!!

I've watched the movie and the movie is basically about a girl whose pure side [white swan] is chased by the evil side of her [black swan] but in the end her evil side took all over her. just as the video started with the boys wearing all white with small traces of black in their outfit and the videos end in the same position but this time the boys were in full black outfit.
I suggest you to watch the movies its a masterpiece
