    Congrats on your purchase! Definitely hard to find a manual F10 and looks rather mint inside and out. Along with that Black Sapphire is AMAZING when freshly detailed.
    I just have to respectfully disagree about two things that drove me nuts about a former F10 535i in my family's fleet of cars compared to the E60 535i it replaced... The ride quality and steering feel. Granted yes, this is of course subject to personal opinion (which I am NOT knocking your view at all, don't take it that way) but when a manufacture claims to be the ultimate driving machine this portion is key.
    The subject car I'm speaking of was a 2011 F10 was a non-M Sport Space Gray ZF8 featuring the same options you showcased plus Cold Weather Package, the Dynamic Handling Package and a few Priority One items like Integral Active Steering (Four wheel steering) for example.
    To me, the ride and steering quality in our former F10 was absolutely numb in "normal" mode to the point were it was almost uninspiring to drive. The suspension dampening was just too soft in that mode. In addition to that, the reduced steering feedback due to BMW switching to electronic power steering hindered the experience, especially when coming from a hydraulic assisted E60 (non-Sport 535i) with active steering. The only way to get around this set back was to go into "sport", toggle the configuration to chassis/steering and suspension or whatever it was back then to regain some of that feeling back.
    On the other hand... Combining Driving Dynamics Control in Sport with the Integral Active Steering and the car was rather nimble for its size... Was quite trippy to practically U-turn into an angled parking spots at grocery stores in a car of that size at low speeds. That much, I will definitely admit about the car and tip my hat off to BMW's engineers for.

    Just purchased a 2014 535i M-sport. Space Gray Metallic w/Ivory White Nappa leather. At the age now where a manual trans is a detriment (Sold my 93 M5 a couple of years ago) and love the 8 speed automatic with paddle shifters. 98k miles but so impeccably kept by the original owner (BMWCCA member) that I didn't bother to negotiate the $14.5k asking price. $67k sticker originally. Has Driver Assistance, Lighting, and Premium packages along with the Multi-contour seats & Sport Auto Trans. Really a stunning car. I'm retired now but worked at the local BMW dealership for 14 years so pretty familiar with the older models. The F10 is light years ahead of the E39 as you might expect. Not a big fan of the run-flat tires (prior owner just installed a new set of Pirelli P7's) as they really firm up the ride with the M-sport suspension. Probably will look into some non-run-flats and buy the spare kit for the trunk. The heads-up display is kind of cool though. The prior owner also had that clear protective film put on the front of the car, hood, mirrors, and headlights so no rock chips or damage to those areas. I took a former BMW Master Tech with me to look the car over and he said "buy it" without any hesitation so I did. ;-)

    I have the F10 528i. Suspension maintenance: check the lower control arms- if they need replacement check that the upper control arms will work in sync- if not then replace them all. It's worth it. NB: maintain your driveshaft every 100000km- they must check the shaft centre bearing and lubricate the shaft fresh. Lazer measure to check that it is 100%. Always pump the right tyre pressures first thing in the morning- this suspension is super sensitive to having the correct tyre pressures for optimal enjoyment. If your turbo weares out, simply have it re-conditioned with a fresh turbo bearing and fan blades. It is worth it. Doing all of this and the F10 remains like brand new.

    Be careful with the early N55 model engines put into the 2011 F10 535i. Mine was maintained immaculately by myself and previous owners but one day it slipped a rod bearing and the engine was scrapped. I had to sell as it is in that condition. Really a let down since their renowned reliability is why I got this engine. Facelift models don’t have these issues. I believe that the early N55 models used lesser quality bearings much like the e9x m3. They go out as they get older. Mine went out at 130,000 miles. Just a heads up

    Omg I just purchased last year same car as yours .. mine is also 2011 535i 6 speed in deep sea blue metallic paint which looks awesome . I was on a lookout for for one of these for a long time they are really hard to find . I do all the maintenance myself and this car is so fun to drive and I think they are gonna be worth more money as time goes by because of manual transmission. If I was you I wouldn’t sell fast , hang on to it the value can only go up , because manual transmission are becoming thing of the past .

    Congratulation. Beautiful car - and I bet that it drives lovely, but I can't believe that you so amazed that it runs 30 mpg - and yes I know that it is a heavy and fast car. • @PracticalEnthusiast

      Thanks! Gas is definitely less expensive here in the States, but it is rising. Right now 91 octane (premium), which this requires, is around $4.20 / gallon. Just a month ago it was $3.20 / gallon. I would guess half the new gasoline vehicles sold in the US today don't get 30 mpg on the highway. There are so many large trucks and SUVs being driven around for just errands. Heck, even the new Acura TLX struggles to get 28 MPG!

The occasional crunchy gear change (maybe temperature dependent?) and rare 1st gear pop outs are less-than-elegant. But always knowing which gear the car is in? And how the engine will respond to the gear it's in? That makes it all worth it. It's a car that will never be made again, and we have to love it for that.

    Very cool ride. I have a feeling that if you sold the E39 and kept this one, you’d definitely miss the driving dynamics of the E39. I think the steering would be the biggest factor. The total numbness and the lack of force buildup in the F10 rack is disappointing. Also, like you mentioned the size difference. Definitely look at getting that WP replaced. I have an 06 330i, and I knew it was about to die as I was getting shadow codes for it a few months prior to it dying. “Speed deviation” is the one you have to look out for. Also, the fan will randomly run at full blast even when the engine clearly isn’t too hot. I had one morning where it was 30 degrees out and the cooling fan started spinning at full blast on the first morning start. Also, the charge pipe is plastic and likes to break. N55 is a pretty solid motor otherwise. Nevertheless, this is probably the only type of F10 I’d get because of the MT. Even compared to the E60, the F10 feels super distant from the driver.

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The f10 certainly is a more insulated driving experience than the E39. I agree, I will miss the E39 when it's gone. I really don't want to part with it because it's just so good. But the f10 reminds my of my '93 LS400 where it's just so darn quiet and comfortable. I always wanted a manual in my LS400, so this particular F10 makes it a nearly perfect car (to me). Thanks for the failure symptoms on the electric water pump. It'll be on of the first parts to be replaced.
