At this point we all want to thank you, Christian and Vera, congratulate you for yet another superb repair and of course, we will all see you next Sunday too.
I think we can all safely assume that Vera was both relieved and ecstatic with Christian's work. Love the humour between these two - the pipe clip 'discussion' was great!
The last time I did an engine out job on a car, was on an Austin Allegro, what a difference to this enormous collection of utter complexity, well done 😊
Sunday evenings in Australia are such a pleasure with you guys. Thanks. The excitement is building for the next episode where hopefully all the little issues are solved and it gets registered. Another Jumbo on the road!
Going through an engine rebuild and getting it to start on the first couple tries is as good a feeling as having comfort food made by your grandma. Glad it didn't give you too much grief, although the coolant leak should just be considered a normal part of a Landy engine at this point anyway.
There's nothing like the sound of a motor working well after you put bearings (and a lot of other work) into it. Very nice work that even Dave would approve of.
I absolutely love these videos. My D3 is having all air struts, torque converter, front shafts, engine mounts, gearbox mount/filter/oil/pan, ride height sensors and all other fluids. Phew. I would be lost without this channel. You two are an inspiration to us "desktop mechanics" :) Thank you from the UK.
Good morning Vera and Christian another fantastic footage of how repairs should be done , such attention to detail . I can feel the excitement with you as she starts and runs , " so quietly "
Congratulations on a fantastic job. Maybe I will open the hood on a Discovery I buy one day and it will say LR TIME on the engine in white pen. I hope so!
Yes, you may have missed our first engine start up on our last Discovery 4 rebuild, and especially on our Discovery 3 engine rebuild last year. We even had to take the transmission out again. 🤗🙋♀️
Thank you project manager, Vera and engineer Christian for bringing back to life the LR4. Funny thing though, I saw an exact model at the weekend and smiled. 🏆 Vera & Christian.
Thank you both for another informative and wonderful rebuild video. You both are absolute Classic German people with your quick wit and comedy. You are both total Gems of the Land Rover community !!!!!
Congratulations- what an achievement! The drama of that engine turning again for the first time was comparable to Frankenstein’s Creature coming to life! (With happier consequences of course).
@@Vera_and_Christian Yes, the water one as well, I know Christian had a problem before with the exhaust cross over pipe in a previous video about 9-12 months ago?
Lovely to see the expression and delight from Vera once the engine has started. And the hug of celebration as if you won an olympic gold medal. That was awesome! Congrats!
You hit the nail on the head when you talked about the challenge to get everything right on a job like this and just how many potential things can go wrong. Where will we end up if the future is just more addition of complexity. At some point it seems to me that the auto industry will need a reset on all these overcomplicated vehicles. I rate your knowledge, experience and intelligence streets ahead of wet behind the ears JLR design teams. Thanks for the laughter and education. Time for Vera to build an engine for the girls who watch the channel. Thank you.
Awesome another one saved and on the road soon. My Disco 1 is still not going, and the rain has hampered my Defender chassis paint and wiring upgrade, not the best summer on record by far.
I love you guys and enjoy my Sunday video with my coffee and toast. The engine start was not lucky, your attention to all the details earns it. Congratulations
It is a pleasure to watch you both at work . Vera is so animated , you are lucky to have her . Christian you are so entertaining and a master at your work .
Big week for my early Disco4, has had an oil and filter change with 5W-40 A front pair of good quality wheel bearings, a new earth cable fitted, New Battery because I’m fancy! , new diesel fuel filter and its sensor replaced. as well as an MoT test. 👍. The pair of new wheel bearings have made a massive difference to cabin noise levels and my stress level too thinking it was a gearbox or transfer case about to blow up. 😮💨. Thanks Vera for your help with a recent reply to my how to get into neutral when I had a dead car🙏
Good morning Vera & Christian and Alles gute Zumba Vatertag Christian 😊 Awwwwww that was so lovely when Vera hugged you Christian 🤩 When your LR bursted into life I fist pumped too 💪🏻 Well done both of you for giving so much pleasure on a Sunday morning 👍🏻 Looking forward to seeing all the teething bits sorted out in the next few episodes 😊 Didn’t see the Queen 👸 this week ☹️ Biggest hugs ever for Vera 🤗😘 xx
Congratulations guys! Another well earned success. Love the style and the German precision lol. As a very old but very new creator struggling daily to keep my Bentley on the road you offer much inspiration. Thank you Vera and Christian, the best team on TH-cam 😊❤
As we have all said before . You guys are so brave. The thought of a husband and wife can take on such enormous impossible challenges is just so crazy. Still the best Sunday evening viewing by a mile😵💫😵💫
When I lived in the US (I am a Brit) I had a petrol Discovery 1. This was early 2000s. I bought it with a drivetrain warranty. The automatic transmission threw up engine lights and fault codes with alarming frequency. It was replaced once and repaired a couple of times. At least then, the fuel was cheap - around $1 per gallon. Anyway, I sold it after the warranty ran out, afraid it would end up with me selling my first born child to keep it on the road. I was done with Land Rovers, though I continued to admire them from afar. Through the magic of TH-cam algorithms, I have watched maybe 20 of your very enjoyable videos over the past two weeks. I now find myself perusing used Discovery adverts in the UK. LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE! I am hankering after a Land Rover I don't really need. We have a Honda CR-V Hybrid. Nothing breaks (yet two recalls). It goes, but it doesn't move me, you know? I have a decent set of tools and a driveway plus workshop, but no garage. I already have a OBDII reader - I had an Aston Martin, so yeah. Do I go for the simpler Disco 3, or the more plush but complicated Disco 4? And yes, I'll get a GAP tool too. Thanks both.
Awesome. The best desktop mechanics couple ever giving a new birth to one of coolest cars ever made. While it, I'm trying to put back the transmission of my C3 after a clutch change. Nice video!
You are the number one mechanic's, please next time you see water on the ground under the car never never taste because here in Australia we pee under cars when we are pissed😅😅😅
So glad you had good weather for this installation, always love your good work. I think you’ve encouraged many people to become better engineers and mechanics and husbands and wives , great work . I wish we had some capable people in Australia who could do this work professionally but unfortunately we don’t . Great job filming too.
Amazing work as always guys. I was smiling for you both when it started and I could sense the excitement from you both. Can't wait to see it's maiden voyage!
It's been a long journey, but your(both of you) perseverance and conscientious preparation (Vera's exhaustive component labeling) have resulted in a well-deserved conclusion of this extensive and comprehensive fettle. ! Job well done... putting many (?)dealerships to shame.!
Crikey, this is turning me into a nervous wreck. Now I've seen how complicated everything is in the Unknown Region that is my Discovery's engine, I cannot understand how it manages to start and run without fail every time, particularly as it's the same age and mileage as yours, and of similarly dubious heritage. To ease matters, I have installed an automatic voice recording activator where Vera says "Oh My God" every time I push the start button.
YEah that is the problem when you have a wife that rather wrenches than bakes cake. No cake for Christian unfortunately. You just can't have it all. 😅👍🙋♀️
Great video and you had us all very nervous until it started - congratulations. By the way, Christian, you should know by now that it is always your fault unless you can prove otherwise - and even then, it's still your fault 😉
Congratulations! That was hilarious, and quite the adventure. I can't wait to see what falls off next, as there is always something. You should probably put all your broken parts onto the ventilated block and send it back to the guy you bought the second engine from and ask for a refund.
No we are locking for a shortblock and rebuild another engine. We don't really have broken parts other than the block. And almost everything from the original engine went back in, expept for the block. Because we know that the original engine was running. We don't know that about the replacement engine. 👍🙋♀️
At this point we all want to thank you, Christian and Vera, congratulate you for yet another superb repair and of course, we will all see you next Sunday too.

I just love Christian’s dry German sense of humour!

Amateurs that put the professionals to shame 😊

Emotional engineering it’s a great feeling when an engine starts after a rebuild well done guy’s good job.
Morning guys , happy Father’s Day to all the Dads 🎉
Thank you!
Lovely to see how happy you were Vera when the engine started. You guys make my Sunday mornings

CONGRATULATIONS! Love the celebration you both had after the engine turned over!
Love it when Christian torques a bolt. He clicks it two or three times just to get the keyboard mechanics going.

0:30 Amazing!!! I did not even have to wait one full minute to hear a "Debacle"
I wonder how many LR OEM technicians are watching? Congratulations on the 2nd rebuild! Chapeau!!

Beautifully smooth running engine, great job.

Well done you two. Vera was like a small child at Christmas. So excited. Great work guys, as always.
Love that Vera was so very happy when it started. Think everyone held their breath while it cranked.. Well done to you both.. 👏👏

Great one guys. I don’t think I am mentally organized enough yet to do an engine rebuild but maybe one day.
Brilliant, Dave will be proud of you both !
