I'll never get tired of the humor in these. "Just snap it off... it's simple really... just.. comes right off... just snap it off... perfect."

I believe the x position locks the bar down so the number dials spring back up. This makes adding numbers multiple times easier for multiplication. It doesn't have to print every part of that entry anyway.

6:09 that number is probably the unique number given that machine by management, so they could keep track of their property. At my company, we have unique serial numbers on everything. Except it’s boring stickers.

I notice that to fit the lever for the subtract function they choose to reduce the font size of the digits on the 9th wheel, but left 789 full size, they must have really squeezed it in - I wonder what the space constraint was... Did Victor predict the desire for small personal devices we see in mobile phones, or has it always been there?

The meaning behind the sereal number is dead easy. You see it at 5:56 min. Its 4157. That means it was in the quality control at the 4. January 1957 at the Bruening company in Berlin.. Easy like that, often there are only 3 digits, the month and the year.

I just got a Resulta E7 at a fleamarket, and am doing a bit of research on it. Apparently the engraved number on the bottom is a date (MYY or MMYY) so yours was probably made in November 1957.
