  • Alex Kerten developed a breakthrough method called Gyro-Kinetics to help manage and decrease Parkinson’s disease (PD) symptoms. This breakthrough, holistic technique involves movement, rhythm, expression, music, and energy, as well as martial arts techniques. His discovery of this unconventional mind-body integration to reduce Parkinson’s symptoms is increasingly gaining attention from the international PD community. In this session, Alex will discuss applications of Gyro-Kinetics, as well as perform a demonstration of the technique.
Born in 1945 in Israel, Alex Kerten developed a magnetic affinity for music from a very young age, with a special love for jazz and improvisation. He was introduced to Martial Arts in the Israel Defense Forces. Alex studied under Grand Master Gad Skornik (Israel), Grand Master Hatsumi Masaaki (Japan), and Master Elli Leffler (Israel), where he graduated with seven black belts. He has worked with Parkinson’s patients at the Reuth Hospital in Tel-Aviv. Alex has also taught at the Maccabi Health Institute in Israel. Decades of experience in the fields of movement disorders and posture management led him to develop the Gyro-Kinetics method.

Just a couple of thoughts from your very, very interesting talk. My brother got PD very quickly, over a matter of months, shortly after major heart surgery. I remember thinking the freezing being like when you have hesitancy when climbing onto the top step of a step ladder (I'm not fond of heights). There was a Chinese engineer who made a 'distraction' device for an entrepreneurial program on the BBC about 7-10 years ago. It was fascinating. It appeared to distract the brain while the person was trying to do something. It had pretty impressive results for a simple solution. I wonder if it could be improved significantly using the four key attributes of life you mention. Just a thought...Well done Alex, Thank You.

16:46 Questioner asked: “Are there any studies supporting your hypothesis that ‘Parkinson’s is caused by fatigue syndrome’? His response: He TOTALLY ignored the question. TOTALLY!
