    I’ve used the Rush 72 for dozens and dozens of backpacking trips now, and I can almost guarantee that this Vanquest would be the better option. Molle all over a backpack like what 5.11 does simply is not realistic. Once you completely fill the bag up, it sits so far away from the body that it makes any weight above 35 pounds pretty uncomfortable. Little to no back/ hip load bearing support. I’ll definitely be picking up this Vanquest in the near future.

    Aaron, once again you have gone above and beyond with your reviews. I loved that you actually packed this out with your gear for a 3-4 day backpacking trip. Your thoughts on the setup with the tent and bedroll, etc was great.
    This review has sold me on purchasing the Markhor for my upcoming backpacking trip. As I'm coming in 2-3 years after Vanquest came out with this, I am a bit disappointed to see there aren't multicam options and the price has significantly increased. Such is life. I'm still getting it.
    Thanks for your hard work in putting this awesome video together, brother. Keep up the excellent work!

    Another great video GT, thanks.
    I live in the Bay Area S.F. & a bugout bag here has to accomodate BOTH urban & rural.
    We have earthquakes, fires, social unrest & blackouts so I've been in the market for sonething high quality that's bigger than a 30 litre.

    Which do you think is better, the Kelty Tactical Redwing 50 or the Vanquest Markhor-45 ? If you had to pick just one which would you go with?

    I really like this pack! Im also a fan of mystery ranch packs. It almost looks like a trizip without the trizip. Kinda even like the karrimor thor pack and arcteryx leaf assault packs too. I find you can hold more gear without the bladder, just carry water bottles on outside pockets and a sawyer squeeze filter. Could also just stash your tent on the outside for multiday trips. One con to this pack is the zippers aren't waterproof so you would need a rain cover or put all your gear in a waterproof pack liner. Very nice size though for me 45-55 liters if preferred. I'm done carrying giant packs myself. Might have to live without certain luxury items and buy more compact lightweight gear but its doable. Nice breakdown man!! Hike on!!

    That thing looks like a BEAST! I'm looking for a scaled-down version of my beloved ILBE2 pack and this or the Savotta Jaeger M are the leaders so far. Thanks for the review.
    Also, it is up on Amazon now, if you wanted to update your link. It doesn't show when you search on Amazon, but a Google search brings up the link to it on their site for some reason.

    Is the rifle hanging down so low weird? Seems like it would feel like a dinosaur tail and throw you all off balance and get in your way

    • @Swearengen1980
      @Swearengen1980 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what kills this pack for me. Love everything about it, but the rifle carry is terribly executed. No easy access, fully exposed/no protection, and makes the other features on that flap unusable. The rifle carry is the sole reason I chose a Eberlestock setup.

    Congrat's to the GT Family! #1. You're HIKING With Mrs.GT? She's about to have a baby, you know that right? #2. After seeing this Awesome pack and your review, I wish even more that I could walk, I've fallen in love with that pack! #3. Is that a Park with trails? The scenery is why I wish I could walk, w/that Pack, Soo badly! Back home in TX we Only have Park's you can hike in (90% of land is private) I'm always amazed by the scenery in your vid's, I drove semi's all over CO. I wish I could have gone hiking there. Great Review.

    Congratulation to you and your family! Thoughts and prayers for you of course!
    That back panel is actually really cool and versatile, I like that feature a lot. If I hadn't *just* bought a Trident 31 I might consider it. ;-)
    That having been said, I have different packs for different situations. This would be a great pack for longer hunting trips or camping where I'd want to take my rifle with me. Also wouldn't be a bad way to haul a full sized fishing pole along for a river fishing trip. I currently have an old 50L EMS pack for long camping trips, but something along these lines would probably fill that role much better for me.

    The detachable part could have a sapi plate put in it. that "hidden" pocket on the velcro side looks just like the pocket in the military plate carries.

    • @slate8881
      @slate8881 ปีที่แล้ว

      i feel like it would be a little too small for that, wouldnt cover enough of the vitals however if you really wanted too im sure you could replace the insert that sits against your back under the water bladder with one, might not be as comfortable as that one flexes and a steel plate wont but kevlar might work

    The durability is hit or miss some of my vanquest bags have zero problems and other have loose threads zipper that failed and tears in the top handle and shoulder straps. I like the durability of 1000D I find the 500 not holding up excerpt on the pouches the weight difference is not that much.

      Eberlestock Gunslinger II if you want a 35L that can carry a rifle (in a much better way than this pack).

    Thank you for providing an excellent review of this backpack. I have not seen this one in the stores where I looked for one. In your review, I think you assumed that the user in your audience would be male. How well would this backpack fit on the average female, assuming a height of 5'6," a short waist and, if measured for a backpack, the female would need an 18 small. Assume that the user is an older woman who does not lift weights. I have to find a backpack for a four-days' excursion. I prefer the color to be coyote brown or green (olive or OD) and the bag to be one to which I can attach small bags carrying water bottles, fire starter gear, small camera and cell phone, hygiene products etc. Weight of filled bag should be not more than 30 to 40 liters. Would this bag be right for me?

    I like gear just as much as the next guy, but alot of channels have turned into info commercials, professional salesman, consumerism at its finest!!! I'm to the point that less is more and dont need these Ferrari high end gear, sometimes the cheaper stuff works just fine!! Not knocking you or your channel you do good presenting these vids, just some constructive criticism and I think some people should start getting back to the basics and not worry about the Gucci products!! Honestly I think consumerism in this country has become a serious issue in all honesty!!!

      Heath Marcum then again there are plenty of people who are tired of seeing the same reviews on Walmart gear and are ready to upgrade.

    • @matthewtaylor9063
      @matthewtaylor9063 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hear your point. I to often have similar opinions on certain items but don't worry about this from Aaron as he points out other options in both lower and higher cost ranges when applicable as he stated for example with this video.
      In addition I feel he points out things even the manufacturer doesn't with real life experience. Making less info commercial and more like a friend giving you info you need to make a wise decision if you're thinking of buying.

    • @skartimus
      @skartimus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He reviews heaps of different price points, gives you competitive options and more importantly - tells you when he doesn't like it. If you want different content, go to a different channel; don't complain just because it might not particularly suit you. As long as he's impartial and thorough, I appreciate the work regardless of whether I want it or not. Also buying once / buying well is less consumerist than buying cheap crap that breaks and needs replacing. I always buy something to last.

    • @TheBCSledder
      @TheBCSledder 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heath Marcum You're the one being a "consumerist" buying cheap shit, not the people buying high end gear.

    • @heathmarcum5390
      @heathmarcum5390 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheBCSledder my comment had nothing to do with high end gear or low end gear, it was ALLL about consumerism, how channels have turned into infomercials, and salesman!!! Alot off people who buy gear dont even use it, they just like new gadgets, and playing with it in there living room!!!
