This guy is the exact reason that I bought and packed my Eberlestock Halftrack pack for so long. I have since moved on to Hill People Gear UTE but the halftrack is still one of the best packs made in my opinion.
Angel Medina yeah good call. I saw MCQ carrying rendered fat.. he used it as chapstick, cooking fat, shotgun and knife rustproofing etc. Thought id share the tip!
I'd carry fixin' wax for that if possible (beeswax, a bit of rendered fat, and any medicinal herbs you'd like). Good for oiling metals, your lips, you can use it in cooking safely too
Yeah, about that... A lot of people have been using a chap stick since kids, or something similar. Except you don't actually need it, it's just marketing like many other items. Your body gets used to the added oil and produces less natural protection and that's why you're getting dry lips or cracked lips without it. You stop using it and eventually your lips will get back to normal. I get dry lips compared to without any, but they haven't cracked in decades.
Professionally presented with several layout concepts coming into play. My loadout is vastly different, but the philosophy is the same. There are several key take-aways in this video. It’s easy to nit-pick this or that in your load-out, but the concepts are what is important to remember. Well done, and thank you.
I found this helpful. I've been playing around with the idea of having a basic "bug out bag" in the house, but was hung up on the idea of at least having the capability of rifle/shotgun carry as well, not to mention how to STOCK the whole thing in practical fashion. This gets me started, along with the feedback in the rest of the comments. Thanks.
Andy, Happy New Year and another outstanding video. It helped to bring in to focus. What you stated in a previous reply. Keep up the great work lad. Cheers, Mate.
Mr Andy, You are scary efficient in Your pack layout, operation & the great delivery of this vid !!!! Others should take a lesson from Your presentation !!! WOW !!! Way to Go !!
I find first aid kist problematic as they aren't geared to proctect fully for a treker. I solve this by buying a waterproof case from a hardwear store. From experience, I wrap mine in a $5 misrofiber towel. Regardless od whether you use a hard waterproof case or not, its handy to lay out to empty your first aid supplies on so it is free from debris. In your case maybe a plastic or rubber backed sheet as you are in snow fall areas
Bruh..... I've seen soooooooooo many rucksack videos and by far, you nailed it. You have exactly what you need for your mission. So many have junk that they'll never need or use. Keep it up and FYI, your in cold weather, add some hand and feet warmers too.
Going out for my first time tomorrow with the CSM. Really helpful video. And gave me some good ideas for some extra stuff to pack. Thanks man! Sub button pushed brother.
i love your set up. its giving me some better ideas on how i want to set my up. long work in progress. mostly have to get some different pouch's for my bag.
Wow. I watch a lot of these type of videos, and mostly I find the guys are not bad, but slightly amateurish. This, however, is a well made, well reasoned video. You seem to have your sh*t together. Good for you.
Love the planning with your support hand. And I’m definitely jealous of that massive pocket on the side for all the quick grabs. Liked and subbed good video
I'm not sure of the weight, its not too bad for me to cary long distance but thats all relative. I am going to do an updated video and I'll be sure to include this information. Thanks for the good idea!
The way I usually set my pack up is to have Gear in molle pouches, but keep them in the pack. That way my pack is not half-empty and has a low drag profile which I prefer. If I need some extra room, I just strap stuff to the outside. Love your dominant side layout. I use a similar principle but in a differant way.
Andy!!! Great frickin video bud. I fell in love with the Halftrack and bought one last spring. Its a great ruck, but have yet to find a real "home" for it in my system. You just solved the problem. I just need to rearrange my pouches.
i believe those are nomex flight gloves. i can find then at my local army/navy store for about 9-12 dollars. one of my favorite gloves uses goat skin and nomex, so its somewhat flame retardant and it wont burn (what they use to make flight suits and wildland fire fighter suits). great gloves especially for the cost. hope this helps!
Not one, not two, but THREE sets of cuffs? What on earth kind of stuff are you using this pack for? Unles you're law enforcement seems like totally unecessary weight and volume.
What is it that you do? I don't know of any LE that allows rifle carry in the woods. I ask because I'm going into the law enforcement career and had considered being a Game Warden. Is that what you are?
InnerBark Outdoors Load your heaviest shit closest to your body and it’ll be like night and day and just use a sling for your rifle. It’s like night and day. Just grab one of those fancy new adjustable slings and it works for whatever you need it for.
To Andrew Harris, can't believe how smart you are. Cuffs you need just in case you encounter humans with criminal intent and you don't want to kill them. Some humans want to abuse other humans by insticnt. For example abusive police officers, they will abuse you if they think you can be abused.
Great video and love the set up. I do have a suggestion however. I would add a Israeli bandage to you med kit. It saved my butt when I was backpacking a few years ago. I was cutting some fire wood to make a cook fire and the ax slipped and hit my shin. I pulled out the bandage and applied it to the wound then preceded to hike the 3 miles to my vehicle. It took 7 stitches to patch me up. The doctor told me it could have been a lot worse but that bandage stopped the bleeding fast and helped mitigate any further injury. Again awesome video keep it up.
+hardnesshammer really? he is a law enforcement officer that helps the park and hunts bad guys. do you think he's going to use an airsoft gun? also why would he spend 6,962 dollars on an airsoft gun for no reason
Why would you carry 3 different sets of cuffs? How about some para cord and learning some knots? You can use the cord for many things and cut some pointless weight.
I'm confused, is this a video about being on duty in the back country? Are you expecting multiple "suspects" in the woods? What scenario do you see occurring?
This video is about getting people to think about what they need and where they should place it. This setup is for me, which not something that would fit most people out there. I used this pack for work because it's laid out better for back country LE work than a regular backpacking backpack.
Oh you are a genius!! Why doesn't he do that? It makes so much sense bc everything in his terrain is white. Just look at all those white trees behind him.... smh
I see where you might think thats a great idea, and in some cases it might be. But for me it's not ideal. Thanks for the comment tho, if I end up doing more snow hikes/winter time I'll consider it.
Great video - well thought out "must carry" equipment and placement - the only thing I would add to the first aid kit would be a tourniquet (unless there was one in there that I did not see).
Another great video. I really like your 'dominant' side packing approach too. Thanks. (My goal is never to get so close to a 'bad guy' you can cuff them.) Evade 'em or, if you must, incapacitate 'em.
ive got a build list on his rifle from what i can see in this vid the whole rifle comes out to be about 6,962 dollars (without counting the level on top of the scope and the zipties along with the velcro for the pressure pad) magpul prs gen 3 stock (fde) - $218 magpul MIAD gen 1.1 grip kit - $36 premier reticles heritage scope - $3,000 cmc drop in 3.5 pound ar-15 flat-faced trigger - $168 lantac .308 enhanced nickle boron bolt carrier group - $328 surefire ST07 remote tail switch - $63 steiner DBAL A3 infra-red laser and illuminator -$990 knights armament corporation aluminium bipod - $438 noveske "pig" flash surpressor - $124 M5E1 aero precision ar-10 in .308 - $1,540 magpul ms4 sling -$57 thats what i found this search took me 3 hours so i hope it's accurate! i couldnt find the rail he uses it doesnt come with the M5E1 i also did not account for the velcro, zipties, and the level on his scope. i hope this helps and god bless!
Wow - late to comment this but Nicholas... thanks from all of us lol. I didn't even know what the true costish of my setup was. *thumbs up* great job man!
I have that small flashlight too. IDK how many times it has been my true EDC because my official EDC flashlight is bigger and isn't always with me. I am surprised you don't double up on lighters? The trusty and cheap Bic lighter is super reliable and cheap. Works in cold or altitudes too. Loved this video and subscribed to see more! Thanks
I have that same tan Vanquest pouch. When hiking I carry my 938 pistol inside of it. I removed one of the inside sleeves and had vanguest hook n loop sewed on and attached a vanquest holster. Other side has gunshot first aid items.
It’s an odd thing to carry handcuffs in a forest. There was a thought process that went into setting up his kit, he has prepared himself for lack of a better word “eventuality” that may or may not exist/occur. At any rate it says something. You can tell a lot about the man by what he carries. What are you packing for?
lee larsen Uhm... he is a U.S National Park Ranger? He needs these items to perform his job. don't judge a man by his "bag" without some context and history of thier person.
Albert Johnson lol. Well there part of the uniform. The not going in with stuff in the cargo pockets. So so you can put things you find in them. I'm always getting told off for putting my gloves in my cargos. It that. It there full. You can't put things in them that you come across. It makes sense to me. People will still think what they think. And there aloud too.
If you really want to, you could just get some small molle dry bags to put on if you find anything. The molle is for everchanging missions. The main pack is to utalized completely
Mystninja, part of the reason why they don't like you putting things in your cargo pockets, is that bulging pockets looks ugly and un-uniform on a parade square. Out in the field everyone put essentials like maps and medical kits in.
sir, just found your channel, while I'm an old school alice kind of guy, I can see how this set up works for you, gotta admit that was a beut of a weapon, looking forward to seeing more of your content.
Andy great to see you out in the woods again. Excellent vid. One thing that struck me was the simplicity of your med kit. I actually exclaimed "what no tourniquet" no Israel bandage or splint either... 😱🤔👍! I see so many guy loading up on these items and from ,my now very dated, First Responder training I understand "If not an expert medic you shouldn't be applying a tourniquet, ect.." That may be wrong now but your sparse kit and statement "this is everything I need" just brought to mind how practical is it to carry a tourniquet in you back pocket ...
I have a TQ on my armor and on my duty belt, but you could pretty quickly make a TQ out of webbing from the pack and a makeshift windlass (if im injured tot he point of needing a TQ, I'm not walking out with my pack anyways). I'm currently an EMT, and have not ever had to use a TQ outside of training (luckily, perhaps).
That is a nice setup you have and I love the water spout on your bag where you can get to it easily. That 7.62 rifle is looking great too and it is nice to have snacks in your backpack, but I would want more food items in there to survive off of until I could either find fish, or animals to kill and cook.
great video keep em coming . the gear/edc videos are awesome and where do you do your camping there? do you have any over night / camping / winter videos planned ?
I really enjoy my Eberlestock as well and I am glad I am not the only one rocking a rifle saddle. I am interested, what kind of gloves were you wearing?
Love the no BS vibe, no fancy filming, there's a raw thing with you. Love it. Very impressed with your methodology behind putting your bag together
Glad you enjoyed the content! I try to make it as digestible as possible
I couldn't put my finger on why I liked our guy immediately but you nailed it. Justed subscribed.
Don't forget that the camera quality is on par!
This guy is the exact reason that I bought and packed my Eberlestock Halftrack pack for so long. I have since moved on to Hill People Gear UTE but the halftrack is still one of the best packs made in my opinion.
Ayyeee
If out in the cold, a small suggestion would be chap stick. A very small thing but it can save a ton of discomfort.
Good for oiling metals, your lips, you can use it in cooking safely too
If you run out of chap stick, you can use your own ear wax.
@ keeps you from licking your lips, so actually not too bad of an idea
Yeah, about that... A lot of people have been using a chap stick since kids, or something similar. Except you don't actually need it, it's just marketing like many other items. Your body gets used to the added oil and produces less natural protection and that's why you're getting dry lips or cracked lips without it. Got a half track recently and have been looking for a video just like this to build my set up. Thanks for the video.
No problem 👍
Mr Andy, You are scary efficient in Your pack layout, operation & the great delivery of this vid !!!! Others should take a lesson from Your presentation !!! WOW !!! Way to Go !!
presentation and functionality are not quite the same things..
Wally Ceiphert yes I’m taking lessons from him to use on my videos, great presentation.
Thanks Wally, a few things have since changed but for the most part love this set up
I find first aid kist problematic as they aren't geared to proctect fully for a treker. I solve this by buying a waterproof case from a hardwear store. Thanks, Mike!
What kind of rifle is that I want it.
Ronny Morris It's some AR-10 model.
Ronny Morris, read the video description.
Nice setup bro.
Thanks man!
Going out for my first time tomorrow with the CSM. Really helpful video. And gave me some good ideas for some extra stuff to pack. Thanks man! Sub button pushed brother.

I agree. Good comment.

Came across your video while searching for a backpack with rifle carrying abilities. Very informative and I plan on implementing some of your ideas,
*thumbs up*
What's your pack's total weight? Thanks.
I'm not sure of the weight, its not too bad for me to cary long distance but thats all relative. I am going to do an updated video and I'll be sure to include this information. Thanks for the good idea!
You need a tourniquet
I saw plenty of para cord in there, but not any superglue.
you read my mind 11 months earlier
lmao paracord for a tourniquet...
Hudson thought that to
OSHA banded them recently, there are better options
Excellent video. The info was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the upload and the links.
*thumbs up*
Love the pace of this video.
*thumbs up*
Is this what you do now that you're not in movies, Justin Long?
*thumbs up*
The back pack looks quite heavy and non - waterproof (wet snow). And I would never carry my lighter away from my body heat ;-)
*thumbs up*
I would like to see a total review of what you keep in your pack for the different conditions out in the wilderness
*thumbs up*

what type of gloves!?!?
Dave Rickards sad he never answered this. I’m looking for gloves just like this for warmth yet dexterity.
Nomex flight gloves
Sex gloves,to go with cuffs
Look like nomex gloves. I was issued a green pair. Great for dexterity but not for warmth.
got them from outdoor research
OZ =LB= Pain
In the Marine Corp, we would call him a gear queue.
Good to know...
Andy!!! Great frickin video bud. I fell in love with the Halftrack and bought one last spring. Its a great ruck, but have yet to find a real "home" for it in my system. You just solved the problem. I just need to rearrange my pouches.
Mr Ray!! Thank you man! Glad this would help out and you found something that worked for you! Hope you are liking the new content
This was a lot more impressive than I thought. Ive got a 5.11 rush moab 10 coming tm to stack up.
*thumbs up*
@@innerbarkoutdoors ive now attatched a medical trauma pouch to my EDC bag

No knife?
Knife is on my body
rickyboyz100 probably on his person.
Thank God! Better than in the body...lol
Great set up BTW
No axe?
thankyou for your tips i will be organising for dominant hand bias brilliant simple idea once its pointed out again many thanks

@@Marinesrock07 hes a national park ranger

Case a squirrel trys to steal his nuts..
Your pack looks extremely low, and your load lifters are loose. I'm in the Army, and that's a serious no go, if you're worried about comfort and pace.
that backpack doesn't fit him, and the gun seems to be the heaviest load he got, should be the closest to his back for balance and spine safety
Thanks for your comment, since then I have adjusted it to fit me better :)
InnerBark Outdoors
Load your heaviest shit closest to your body and it’ll be like night and day and just use a sling for your rifle. It’s like night and day. Just grab one of those fancy new adjustable slings and it works for whatever you need it for.
what a tremendous video/resolution quality, nicely done
Thanks!!
Great set up. Looks like what I need for hunting next year
*thumbs up*
What gun is that ?
It's the Aero Precision M5E1 (308win)
InnerBark Outdoors thanks! Nice set up, I love your videos by the way
InnerBark Outdoors I can't wait till my M5 is built! Waiting on the stripped lower, finally found one after months of waiting

Andrew Harris He works as a US National Parks Ranger
+andrew harris to kidnap people
Just in case he finds a stranded lady and needs to get freaky. Isn’t that why we carry cuffs? No? Just me so.. disregard
Just in case he runs across angry wildlife..LOL
To Andrew Harris, can't believe how smart you are. Cuffs you need just in case you encounter humans with criminal intent and you don't want to kill them. Some humans want to abuse other humans by insticnt. For example abusive police officers, they will abuse you if they think you can be abused.

no problem man i have a build list though in the comments section if you want to check it out
Good job. Also I carry a roll of toilet paper, zippo and fluid for it along with a few sheets of newspaper folded up for lighting a fire.
Nice list of things! Taking note!
Nice set up. I'm not at all familar with these type of back pack set ups but I'm pretty impressed with how much you got in there. 👍
Thanks Robert
Why would you carry 3 different sets of cuffs? How about some para cord and learning some knots? You can use the cord for many things and cut some pointless weight.
Cuffing a suspect is the most dangerous part of an arrest, so the faster you get it done, the safer it is for everyone.
That makes sense. I enjoy your content, thanks for making quality stuff!

Your camouflage should be white.
sandy brown is not found in that snow, white is pretty nice, but the key thing is to brake up the shape rather than color.
Oh you are a genius!! Why doesn't he do that? It makes so much sense bc everything in his terrain is white. Just look at all those white trees behind him.... smh
I see where you might think thats a great idea, and in some cases it might be. But for me it's not ideal. Thanks for the comment tho, if I end up doing more snow hikes/winter time I'll consider it.

thanks!

Appreciate that Ian
Eberlestock makes some kick ass packs. Would love to get me one
I have a few and never been disappointed!
InnerBark Outdoors Agreed and hope that stays the case. Stay safe.
What a great setup!
*thumbs up* Thank you kind sir
Cool video. Nice bag and setup. Very, very, very nice rifle.
Thanks vic
Was looking to see if people mount full scabbards on molle back packs but this is way better for what I'm needing new sub for you brotha!
Thanks Cody! Glad to have you here!
Nice Setup, thx for showing 👍👍👌
Anytime *thumbs up* *thumbs up*
Great video and good information! Thanks!
*thumbs up*
That is a nice setup you have and I love the water spout on your bag where you can get to it easily. That 7.62 rifle is looking great too and it is nice to have snacks in your backpack, but I would want more food items in there to survive off of until I could either find fish, or animals to kill and cook.
*thumbs up*
great video keep em coming . the gear/edc videos are awesome and where do you do your camping there? do you have any over night / camping / winter videos planned ?
None planned but that doesn't mean that there won't be any :)
Outstanding!! Gear bro . thank you

Hi Justine, thanks for the support
I really enjoy my Eberlestock as well and I am glad I am not the only one rocking a rifle saddle. I am interested, what kind of gloves were you wearing?
If i remember correctly i was wearing winter weight general issue flight gloves :)
Life straw, knife, para cord, spare socks, small tarp, metal cooking cup, are a few things I would add.
*thumbs up*
Love your setup. great rifle.
Thanks, LT!
I would like to see the main compartment load out. I’m thinking about building this pack for through hiking.
*thumbs up* I'll keep that in mind
Sick setup!
I think so too, thanks
I've got 2 eberlestock packs love them
They are sweet!
I never thought of using a rangefinder for navigating points. that and a compass bearing would really help.
It's something I tried when I only had one good landmark to work off of. Hope you use it!
OUTSTANDING.
THANK YOU
