He punched the thing because he's been living with the expectation to be gone soon, not to be cured after killing people and cooking meth. So he's not all that happy with the news :P
And he has to keep the lies he told for an unknown amount of time, live with them, and all the things he did will keep haunting him...
walt was upset because he didnt intend to survive the cancer. All the things, he did because he thought he would die anyway so he has nothing to loose.
You two are really starting to "get" the show. All the issues you're talking about are relevant. GREAT reaction.
Walt really thought he was gonna die. His remission was genuinely a shock to him!! Keep in mind this has been his go to reason for even starting all this.😊 love that you guys are so settled in!!
Walt is still terminal... he just has more time now and more options. He was prepared to die within weeks, and had accepted that fate. Now the future is uncertain and he has done horrible things to get to this point. Steve is pretty close on this. Things were in his control (or so he thought) before this latest news. Now he is back to uncertainty.

I think you are now officially balls deep into this show. It just keeps getting better and better, believe Confucius. You have no idea what you are in store for.
Walt was expecting to get bad news and therefore thought he was dying for sure. Once he found out his cancer is in remission, he felt angry that he had crossed the line . Now he has to live and deal with this. Rest assured that the writers on this show will explore ALL of your questions.

Brilliant episode. It's a classic. I liked this reaction because it really showed how this show is not going in the direction that a first time viewer would think in any way. And it wasn't some cheap trick they used; Walt's lung cancer is a very unpredictable situation with symptoms, response to treatment, and everything so it was a truly realistic depiction of what he is going through and how it impacts his decisions and emotions.
"Let's do it" seems like a missed opportunity to say "Let's duo it".

That reaction from Sky is so realistic. My mom doesn't have cancer, but heart and kidney issues, and any time I have heard good news after something, I'm like wait, I just want to make sure... Is this a good thing? Like you're so used to hearing the bad stuff.

This is considered a "bottle" episode. It means that it's one where the plot doesn't move forward that much from my understanding. Usually shows will throw one or two of these in a season to save money on a budget. Breaking Bad makes them special though. A lot of character development here and it's entertaining. When you have chemistry between two amazing actors like this, it really doesn't matter what the plot is. One of my favorite episodes.

My view Walt was considering himself the dying hero providing for his family. Now that he might live, Walt is now just a high school teacher breaking bad as a meth cook.

I love Walt and Jesse's relationship, sometimes it has it's downs like when they both act like bickering children lol but they have not only the greatest chemistry in the show (pun unintended) but they also have some funny moments together.
I was very confused when I saw the scene of Walt pounding the dispenser in the restroom. I believe Lacy is absolutely correct! He did things beyond acceptable, even murder! Because he thought he was going to die. And now, he isnt. He feels guilty because he went against all he knew to be right, with the excuse, that he was doing it for the right reason. Now he is conflicted. He no longer has the excuse. But now, who is he? Is he now guilty? Is he a murderer? He abandoned his morals. To stand by his morals. Such a great.show!

Walking at a brisk pace you can walk 3 miles in 28-32 minutes. 1 mile is about 12 minute depending on your pace

I agree with her interpretation. I always saw that as Walt's despair on realizing that he can't rationalize all the horrible things he'd done up to that point any more. An hour ago he'd likely told himself that what he did was necessary to help his family in the short time he had left. Now he can't do that, and is probably also wondering if he'll be able to stop cooking, or if he'll even WANT to.
Entertaining reaction again :) ... Meanwhile, average walking speed is 3 mph (so 15 miles will take 5 hours, assuming straight line, no breaks, etc). Also, you can't pay a $600K medical bill in cash, it would have to go through a bank account. If you deposit $10K or more in cash, the bank has to report it. And if you can 'prove' the money is legit (if you can't it'll be seized), you'll still have to pay income tax on it.
Hemdian your definitely my accountant and as you can tell I never had experience in the money launderers business. Damn I am totally doing something wrong. Steve

That was a great post show discussion yall. I'm starting to get into the show again. I was thinking the reason Walt was so POed was because Hank is getting closer to figuring things out. He didn't care before, because he thought h e was about to die. Now he has to steer clear of the DEA. He likes Hank and doesn't want to be in a conflict with him. And he now has too much more to live for
to risk it all. Lacey, you may be right tho, maybe he is into the rush of evading the authorities and making bank. Like he is alive for the first time, and his grey matter is finally paying off. Also, he is giving the finger to the world, and that must feel good.
On a side note: Lacey's eye makeup is on point.

Depends on how you want to use the money. You can hide that much illicit cash and spend it in groceries or a new flatscreen or other stuff and have no problems. When you want to use that money to buy something substantial is where you get into trouble. if you pay for a new car, a new house, pay off your mortgage etc.
Sorry for being so late to the party but I only discovered the channel a couple of weeks ago.
About laundering the money. It's more about origin then amount or expenditure. It's about being able to explain and to present proof of where you got that money. That's why it is easier to expend illicit money on small things, nobody really looks at how much you expend on groceries. But when you buy something substantial the government can look at that and ask how you got all that money since you have no bank records for it and it is way more than what you could make in your current job.
That's why criminals launder money, so it has a legitimate origin. If anyone aks they can say it came from that source and not from criminal activities so it doesn't raise suspicion.
Walter already came to terms with himself dying and has almost like a predetermined date he’s ready to go which was when he had the money for his family..now that’s he’s in remission he feels like it possibly was for nothing and he’s stuck in this world with real chance of one day getting caught before dying.
I thought Walt punching that thing was purely the intense relief that he has another shot at life. The old Walt would have held it all in, the new Walt needed a release valve. I view it as similar to the episode where Walt produced the explosion in Tucos building. Walt afterwards grabbed the steering wheel of his car and let out an almighty roar.

I think Walt doesn't want to live, just like the Talking pillow scene in season 1 where he explained it, deep down...so when he saw the Scan that showed the big white blob, he mentally prepared himself for his final weeks of life, coughing up blood and feeling sick, while cooking up the rest of the meth as one final push to reach his financial goals. Then, to find out that such a disastrous looking MRI image was just inflammation and he's in remission, it made him realize that he needs to keep battling this thing- this cancer- and it's not over yet; he's going to have to go through more chemo, more treatments, and possibly more medical procedures, just to live in pain.
And he also knows all of that stuff costs money- a pretty lot of money- so all the money he just produced by cooking up the methylamine in this episode, a good portion of it is going to need to be used instead for his medical bills. He was prepared to go out having basically succeeded, but now he's back in the merry-go-round of doctor visits and hospital bills, struggling. He also has to explain some things the longer he lives, whereas if he was on his way out, it wouldn't matter as much.
I wish you two would talk more during the actual reactions, especially Steve. Most of the time, it's really hard to pinpoint what your opinions are on various situations, and I can only guess what you two are thinking...
