And just like that - the best television character ever written is introduced to the world.
    BETTER CALL SAUL!

Bob Odenkirk (Saul) is a comedy legend. Saturday Night Live, The Ben Stiller show (yes he has a tv show and it was awesome), and "Mr. Show" on HBO.. which was kinda the 90s Monty Python in that it was the sketch show other comedy writers would take notes from. Oh and he was also a producer of Tim & Eric's Awesome Show. Btw BB creator Vince Gilligan was a huge fan of bob because of Mr Show and that's why he was cast as Saul.

    1) Blue had me laughing with the "cleaning her pipes" phrase 😂
    2) D.J. Qualls playing the undercover cop was genius casting, because he'd always been eother in pothead roles or slacker teen roles. So he totally did not look like a cop.
    3) Saul Goodman is a gift from God. Also, Walter with the hat and sunglasses during his first meet with Saul is hilarious.
    4) Remember the name Ignacio and Lalo, as Tom said.
    5) The park scene with the other bald guy was GENIUS.

      3) 😂 I love how Walt thinks his little costumes are fooling anyone but Badger and the gang!! Saul is a perfect counterpart to Walt's Mr. "know-it-all" demeanor because Saul literally knows it all, hahaha!! This is going to be great!! BUT...He better not come at Jesse, though, because he will catch this adopted-mama-bear's hands.

@@maybe_katie5582 Walter is all about feeling smarter than everyone but feeling he never got his due for the intelligence he has. He's that conflict between a superiority and inferiority complex and it drives his every decision, which is why he thinks people can't see through his little disguises. Anything that makes him feel "less than" will always result in him either doing something stupid, something impulsive, or something unexpectedly clever. The thing is you mever know which one it will be.

Hi, I'm just a head on a turtle coming to say hi 😂😂😂
Also Jessica Jones season 1 was awesome. I do agree it went downhill after, but you can watch season 1 as a standalone.

As for Kate's comment on the humor in Breaking Bad, it was an intentional choice from creator Vince Gilligan. He talks about a show called Deadwood, which in retrospect many consider to be one of the all time great shows, but the show at the time was cancelled after three seasons. Gilligan thinks this was because the show was dark and gritty in totality and had no space for any kind of humor. He says any dark story needs a little situational comedy like how you add a little salt in your dessert.

Kevin and I always have a post-episode-discussion discussion (lol) after recording, and that was exactly how we felt. It was so nice to have a break from the doom and gloom and feel a little bit giddy about what is to come!
I give even more kudos to the writers when I consider the fact that the humor, if not done properly, could absolutely ruin a show/movie almost as much as it being too emotionally arduous!

    • @extantsanity
      @extantsanity 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@maybe_katie5582 Gilligan also said that he specifically likes to choose comedic actors, because comedy is so difficult to pull off. He believes that when put to drama, a comedic actor will pull off the crossover better than most dramatic actors going the other direction. When he saw what Bryan Cranston was able to do on Malcom in the Middle (after his stint on X-Files, which Gilligan also directed), he knew who he wanted for this show. And his casting for Saul was also perfection.

I *LOVE* that Saul Goodman was dragged into the desert, in front of an open grave, threatened with death... and he STILL made out with more money than when he was dragged there 🤣😂🤣😂 Even when he's on the ropes, he'll come out with $6 more to his name hahah

He gave me a little bit of Lebowski* vibes in that moment (specifically the toilet scene--"It's down there somewhere, let me look again")
Just cool and confident in the face of chaos.😂 It is such an entertaining quality for a character!
*that is probably where the similarities end between those two, though😂

The show *"Better Call Saul"* is not only a Prequel but it's also a Sequel to *Breaking Bad* Universe
As of now, I just want you folks to remember 2 things from this episode:
1). Saul Goodman says his Real name is *McGill*
2). Saul Goodman is afraid of couple of guys as he asks Walter and Jesse: _"Are you Ignacio? Lalo?"_
These are not any random names
You folks will soon find out in *Better Call Saul* the whole context why Saul Goodman was so scared of them 😉👍👍

A lot of fans seem pretty strict that you have to watch BB before BCS, but honestly I would love to hear observations from people who did it in the reverse order. Sure, there will be things you’d lose out on, but there might be a lot to gain from it - I wouldn’t know.

I think now you understand why Bob Odenkirk got his own spin off show as Better Call Saul
Saul Goodman is an very interesting character, his real name is James "Jimmy" McGill
Better Call Saul is an story of how Jimmy McGill becomes Saul Goodman prior to the events that start Breaking Bad in Albuquerque, New Mexico in early 2000's
It's an slow burn, but trust me you will enjoy Better Call Saul even more!! That's a Promise!! 😂👏👏👏
Its also an Sequel to Breaking Bad, Please Don't miss it 👌

You definitely need to watch Better Call Saul after you're done with Breaking Bad. It's its own story but adds so much context to many Breaking Bad supporting characters. It's every bit as great as BB, probably even greater in some ways.

Better call saul doesn't come close to BB with a ten foot pole. It's politically correct new tv rubbish. The cast was too old to shoot a prequel and it was apparent. Vince should have stopped at BB. We don't need to know backstories if that means a reduction in quality. Saul has more humor and charm in this one episode then he did in all of better call Saul. One of the characters from BB in that show is not even played by the same person... (possible spoilers) why was there a scene of Saul pushing a lady in a rascal scooter down a sidewalk for 10 minutes 😴 I honestly could not believe how disappointing that show was and it took them forever to finish it so most people forgot the story along the way. Even with BB's delays people could not forget the story if they wanted to. That shit stuck with them # notmybreakingbad
