Turning almost 17 and when I hear more & more about the decrease in recruiting for engineers - I feel the need to concentrate more on developing skills rather than preparing for JEE among lakhs of aspirants but my family denies it and has given me no other choice. I'm thinking of taking things in my own hands and start learning some useful skill in secrecy while preparing for JEE. Feel free to drop your opinions.

I believe I'm putting in effort but there are thousands of others who are doing the same as me and I've witnessed this every year - Even if 2 lakh+ students put all their effort only 16000 are selected. Hey if you’re good in STEM and problem solving. Then give your best for JEE. If you don’t even get in IITs , you will get in NITs. And whichever subject you get, please be proficient in coding.
