For me the challenges have been around supporting my mom with end of life dementia. They are my go to music when going out running and they never fail to energize me and keep me determined and positive - as they say - 'If you can feel your heartbeat, You’re not done yet' :)
I think as long as it never fully goes away, keeping it for the songs where it matters most lets it shine even more as opposed to getting too worn out being in every song

Another band (that you may also enjoy) that does that is The Paper Kites. Each album they have is a different aesthetic and tells a different story. And they also do a very 80s-esque sound for a number of their albums (Twelvefour, Roses, On the Corner Where You Live, and On the Train Ride Home). One of their albums has a "enchanted creatures living in the woods" vibe (Woodland) and another has a "folky songs you listen to during a road trip through the redwood forests vibe (Young North). Another has that "driving through the city after a bad break up on a summer night in the rain" vibe (States).
I love "The Midnight" so much because they bring back so many memories of the 80's. I agree with most of the other commenters here. The Midnight doesn't always need a saxophone in a song to be good. This is the prof. Thank you.

When a new MIDNIGHT song pops up, you immediately like and add to favorites before even listening because you know it is good. This is honestly MY NEW FAVORITE SONG!
This song is legit the song I listen to when my depression is trying to take over. For some reason it snaps me out of that state of “nobody cares so why should I?” And puts me into a sort of “I’m ok with who I am” state
When I heard the Van Halen Jump synth in this song I immediately picked up my guitar and figured the whole thing out from start to finish in less than 20 minutes. I then made a solo for the instrumental ending... Even added some EVH style finger tapping to it. It's been a LONG time since any song made me spin my chair around and pick my guitar up immediately to learn it. As a huge Van Halen fan as a kid, the fact I wrote a solo that applied a touch Eddie's style to the song just felt like a fitting tribute to him. This song is just incredible. I like a lot of others miss that saxophone sound, but when the result is music like this? I'm fine, totally fine, keep doing what you're doing because it's working... lol.

I don't understand why anyone on earth is more popular than you guys. Your songs are audio healing potions, and healing is what this world needs more than anything. Maybe like any health care professional you're fated to be perpetually underappreciated, but thank you for continuing to be so emotionally, mentally, and spiritually uplifting. Ugh, everything The Midnight puts out feels like brand new nostalgia. That stylistic 80s-90s synth vibe, with their songs ranging from feeling pensive and brooding all the way to lighthearted and carefree, while still managing to retain such a strong feeling of originality throughout each song? *chef's kiss* beautiful.

This is a great song, good job on getting 80s themed. I do want more kids and endless summer songs, those gave me tears 🥲 with the instrumentals without the lyrics and then the Lyrics came. 😭😭
I love all of their EP's, but the only LP I like for the most part is Endless Summer. Kids is quite terrible and overly cringe, and Monsters has Deep Blue and a couple other "ok" tracks. So far I really like both singles for this album and am hoping its great from start to finish.

I became a huge fan of this band the moment my boyfriend played one of their songs from his play list when we were on a date. Several years later that boyfriend is now my husband. That stylistic 80s-90s synth vibe, with their songs ranging from feeling pensive and brooding all the way to lighthearted and carefree, while still managing to retain such a strong feeling of originality throughout each song? *chef's kiss* beautiful.

I love all of their EP's, but the only LP I like for the most part is Endless Summer. Kids is quite terrible and overly cringe, and Monsters has Deep Blue and a couple other "ok" tracks. So far I really like both singles for this album and am hoping its great from start to finish.
