For years, I just wanted a place of my own. I couldn't breathe. Eventually I was able to carve out a space, just enough to breathe. And now, I have that place of my own, with friends who support me along my journey called life.
This band was the entirety of my wedding playlist for a marriage that crumbled and a future that sputtered out. I wound up in jail for nearly two years. She went her own way with a new guy and our son. I'd lay on my bunk and burn what little money I had just to listen to The Midnight. Now I'm out, I'm free, I'm doing okay I guess, but I'm lonely and I swear my cells are stuffed with sadness and pain and regret. Like as if the future I couldn't capitalize on is now steps behind me shouting and taunting. Recovery is tricky. This song smells like balloon fiesta with my then-wife. It looks like a glance toward the passenger seat as we headed into the mountains to camp a weekend. It tastes like a cheap dinner shared on a second hand coffee table. It sounds like the first cries of our son entering this world. It feels like a past I remember and love but a past that fits now in a box; a life I can't get back. A dimension I'll never be able to access ever again. Thank you both for your work because I'm not sure where I would be or what I would feel without you.
The Midnight tracks have become a part of my family tradition to listen with my brothers and loved ones! Takes us back to a time where we are all together always. It's medicine for the soul.

I agree! I'm in illinois where they all listen to country music. Nothing wrong with that though. I just wish I could find someone around here with similar music interests.
@@travisryan31 I am in Western Illinois and have been listening to these guys for close to 4 years. In fact, my high school son told me his teacher was playing Lonely City in class while the kids were working!

The Midnight are masters at 1980’s slow jam hits, never get tired of listening to them. Their vizual art is absolutely out of this world, I am looking at the 1980’s in an entire video. His voice is something special. Gorgeous poetic lyrics. ❤️🌟🥰🤩😘🏆😍💎🎶🎵📺🫶🏻♥️✨⚜️👑🎙️🎤🥤💾📼
I think Tyler is just so talented and never fails to write beautiful songs. What a cool band.. I’m 33 and I have a 14 year old daughter that loves the Midnight too. Carve out a space, just еnough to breathe
For the long nights of uncertainty
Place of her own
Place of her own
Place of her own
Summer's so hot and winter's so cold
On the F train to the south slope
And most people are okay in their own way
It's a nice way, but it's a long way
He left a hole the size of the world
And she ain't never had nothin' and wasn't askin' for gold
Just a place of her own
Just a place of her own
Just a place of her own
Carve out a space, just enough to breathe
For the long nights of uncertainty
Place of her own
Place of her own
A place of her own
She says, "yeah, you leave, yeah, you go
Where do I belong? where do I belong?"
"Yeah, you leave, yeah, you go
Where do I belong?"
She says, "yeah, you leave, yeah, you go
Where do I belong? where do I belong?"
"Yeah, you leave, yeah, you go
Where do I belong? where do I belong?"
He left a hole the size of the world
And she ain't never had nothin' and wasn't askin' for gold
Just a place of her own
Place of her own
A place of her own
Carve out a space, just enough to breathe
For the long nights of uncertainty
Place of her own
Place of her own
A place of her own

Shades of 'The Comeback Kid' in this one.
